Look at the off season pick ups for the Pats. Randy Moss, Daunte Stallworth, Wes Welker, Kelly Washington, and Adalius Thomas. That means more targets for the great one Tom Brady to throw to, and a LB to replace the missing Banta Cain and Seau. The Pats are a lock for the AFC with the Colts losing a lot of key players and the Chargers not adding anyone. Not to mention Chicago sticking with Rex.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to predict who will win a Super Bowl before training camp even happens. You're basing this on two average recievers, an underachieving one, and Randy Moss who no one knows which one will show up: the good or the bad. There are a lot of good teams out there like the Colts and their great offense, the Chargers who just keep getting better, and my favorite: the Bears. Rex is fine by the way and he's going to be a star. There's no way you can aleady crown the Patriots.

The Chargers dont have it all together, especially after firing a great coach and signing an underachieving one. The Chargers needed to add better receivers and they havent. The Colts arent as good as last season after losing Stokley, Rhodes, June, and both starting corners. The Bears still have a career backup QB as the number one guy in Rex. Rex isnt fine, in fact he's the mirror image of Kyle "I Should Have Been A" Boller. And Moss and Stallworth arent average.

No team is perfect. It's not possible to already predict who will win. What if in the first preseason game Moss, Brady, and Adalius all tear their knees up. Then what? You can not already declare a super bowl champion in april. Lets wait until these teams play some games and see how they work together. After midseason you want to crown them then you can do that but to already say that they're going to win it for sure is rediculous. There's other great teams in the NFL.

Of course there are other great teams in the NFL, thats the reason I started this outrageous throwdown. Its so early, and so many people will think otherwise on my argument. This was just to get everybody thinking on who so far looks the best. The only reason I truely, wholeheartedly believe the Pats can do it, is because of their recent success, and how they have better players than some of their recent winning teams. Just humor me and everyone else and think up a legit contender for 08.

well you didnt say the Patriots look the best so far. You said they'd win the super bowl. theres a difference. You cant base this season on past successes either. Look at the Miami Heat. Or the Dallas Mavs. Just cuz a team does good in sports doesnt mean it'll last. I honestly think the Bears will win the Super Bowl this year. Best D in the game and with an improving offense they're gonna get back there and win it this year. But i cant even say they will cuz the NFL is unpredictable.

I think the Chargers have all the pieces.

Randy Moss is a cancer on any team! The Raiders found that out for two years. Hope you enjoy the begining of the end for New England!

for once i agree, kinda, with chicagofan23. but this is funny, Moss is this years new T.O for the season...or is T.O just last years Moss...who knows, . but whoever likes the patriots, get ready for an unwanted media storm where every misstep, and every regular step, is going to be regurgitated by **** eisen.

Point to New England support on this one because a.) Randy Moss has never been on a veteran laden team before and will finally learn that he doesn't need to be the face of the franchise (Ala Corey Dillon) and b.) Rex Grossman is going to be a star? Alright. Is this you Jay Mariotti? Seriously, I hope that you people in Chicago don't think he's a fixture there. I honestly predict the Bears to win 10 this year but it's not because of Rex. It's because of Urlacher. Please teach that man to throw a football and your problems will be over.

Of course you can't say for sure who will win now because of injuries, luck, and all the other things you can't control. But you have to say the Patriots are the favorites right now. They were already only a play or two away from making the Super Bowl last year (like they wouldn't have beat the Bears!) and have had the best offseason of anyone in football. Adalius Thomas will be awesome in this defense, and Stallworth, Welker, and Moss give Brady a great group of weapons.

spending money doesn't equal championships, look at the Raiders, Cowboys and the Redskins of the past 5 years, they all pick up big names (including at one point Moss) and they didn't win anything. The Pats have been good without spending money, they messed it up this year. I don't see them being better than Indy or Denver this year.

Moss is only a cancer when he doesnt have a QB to throw to him. In Oakland he had Aaron Brooks, Kerry Collins, and Andrew Walter. With Brady to throw to him he'll be happy. And we all know when Moss is happy everybody is happy.

April 30, 2007  10:22 AM ET

The Pats are a Super Bowl Caliber team clearly. They upgraded across the board, considerably at the WR position from a team that lost the AFC Championship. Moss will not be a cancer in New England, he will be a cancer to opposing defenses. Regardless of his output, he is going to draw double coverage all game, opening up the offense to do anything.

Bscwartz, last year I certainly did not have Miami in the Super Bowl. In fact I dont even think I had them making the playoffs.

April 30, 2007  01:35 PM ET

Please tell me who in the world thought Miami would have made the Super Bowl last year BSchwartz07. Tell me, so I can laugh at them.

NE is going to have a good team next year, i'm not saying that i'm just saying we have a few months before the first game. And a lot can happen during a season, so lets wait a bit before we crown a champion.

SI.com and was published in SI that miami would play carolina in the super bowl.

The Pats have a much better shot at the SB than Chicago, but having said that it's impossible to predict what happens from now until the beginning of the season (e.g., injuries) and especially beyond that.

Fair enough. Good throwdown.

If you had to bet your life right now on one team to win the Super Bowl, who would it be? For me it's the Pats. They lost Dillon who would have been phased out this year anyway, they had injury concerns in the secondary and drafted Meriweather out of U of M, they had age concerns at LB and signed A Thomas, they had a rag tag WR corp and we know what they have added there, what concerns are left? I would like to see them add a little more youth to the LB corp but they are still pretty solid with Bruschi, Vrabel, Colvin and Thomas as their starters
