That Level of futility will be near impossibe to match this century.
They say the preprinted t-shirts of the SB losing team go charitibly to 3rd world countries. Damn, they must think the BILLS are awesome !!!!!

Hey man, you never know who or what will happen in the future (whether the next five years or next twenty years). Also, you must remember that the Bills were an AFC powerhouse every one of those years, dominating just about every team they faced. But if any team could do that it would be the Colts. If you've noticed they've had an excellent record every year and would always lose in either the AFC Championship game or the AFC Divisional playoffs. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the Colts and all, but if anybody were to match what the Bills did, it would be the Colts. Or possibly even the Patriots, but I don???t really see that one coming to fruition (they would only be a choice in this because they are able to continually make it to the playoffs and to Super Bowls, but again, I really, really, REALLY don???t think Tom Brady would fail in the Super Bowl four times especially since he???s already won three of them). But back to the Colts: they would probably do that just because it would be Manning???s luck. He is arguably the best QB to ever grace the gridiron, but until last year, were unable to win anything of much note. I hope that doesn???t happen to them, but it is possible.

As you said,
"you never know who or what will happen in the future ", but lets face it, the majority of these "throwdowns" are nothing more than bar talk with no true answer. To even represent 4 times reguardless of the win/ loss ratio, is a feat in itself, but I argue no team will lose 4 in a row for a very long time, if ever.

Again, the use of the word futility designates that you feel the bills were terrible in accomplishing (if you can call it that) what they did in making it to four straight Super Bowls (and getting crushed each time by NFC East teams). But is going to four straight Super Bowls and losing really all that much to brag about? I mean, if you won one of those SBs and lost the other three, you could say you are 1 for 4 (though, that still isn't all that great, but better than 0 for 4). What is your point with this throwdown? Which team will be amazing, yet suck all at the same time and continually lose Championship/Super Bowl games year in and year out? The Colts as they had already been on that road and luckily for Peyton Manning he won his first Super Bowl and I bet he hopes he doesn???t go on the Jim Kelly streak.

The point of the throwdown is simply to ask the question, Will a team ever lose 4 SB in a row. Not how they got there, not what they accomplished. But 4 in a row.
Oh yeah, a jab at R. Goodell as well :)

LOL...But yeah, as I explained above, I'm pretty sure in the future (maybe not in the near future) someone can accomplish such a task. It may not be a glorious task if you lose them all, but either way, it is an amazing accomplishment. Hopefully it isn't your favorite team...

What?

Do you mean going there 4 straight times? Or appearing 4 times and losing?

June 13, 2007  02:59 PM ET

lose the SB 4 times in a row

June 13, 2007  03:05 PM ET

I'd just be happy getting to a super bowl............

June 13, 2007  03:06 PM ET

Yeah, especially four in a row, but that really effects your psyche when you keep losing them especially after your first Super Bowl loss was only by a single point and your kicker missed the winning field goal.

June 13, 2007  03:07 PM ET

I THOUGHT WE WERE HOMIES MAN??????

The AFC was WEAK! The Bills were damn good team, i would look at as NO OTHER TEAM WILL MAKE THE SB 4 YEARS IN A ROW!!!

I am a homer though, and damn proud
GO BILLS!

June 13, 2007  03:08 PM ET

lol i knew this would draw you out !!!!

June 13, 2007  03:11 PM ET

what is a "homer" ?

June 13, 2007  03:12 PM ET

I'm confused. Did Rodger Goodell (big Bills fan) just vote for you? You are saying the Bills were terrible in losing four straight Super Bowls...at least that what I collect from reading your title. Also a homer is someone who cheers for their hometown team (i.e. Buffalo) and sees no one else as being right when talking badly about that team and that only good things can happen...or something like that.

June 13, 2007  03:13 PM ET

Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No! Look at the gap between the AFC and NFC during the 1990's. It's the same gap today except the AFC is on top.

June 13, 2007  03:23 PM ET

A homer is a guy who says stuff like "THE BILLS ARE THE BEST TEAM EVER" , just cause your a Bills fan!

Or that Calvin Johnson is a better WR then Jerry RIce,lol!

June 13, 2007  03:28 PM ET

No, I was sayin that the bills making it to the SB 4 times was a good thing! Not a bad thing!

June 13, 2007  03:29 PM ET

The Bears seem like a team capable of getting back to the Super Bowl in the NFC only to get defeated again. To do that 2 more times after that is highly unlikely but it is possible.

June 13, 2007  03:31 PM ET

Goodell, I was talking about smack'em; he is talking as if making it to four straight Super Bowls is a bad thing.

June 13, 2007  03:33 PM ET

I remember when the 'Skins rampaged through the '91 playoffs.....that 'Skins team was DOMINATING to say the least....

#1 in offense points....# 2 in defensive points...1st in defensive pass yards per attempt...5th in TD's allowed passing....3rd overall in defensive yards allowed.....offense averaged over 30 points a game......allowed 14 points per game on defense......combined score in their 3 playoff games was 102-41.

*Memories*

June 13, 2007  03:35 PM ET

Yeah...and they dominated the Bills in the Super Bowl (the score was much closer than the game was).

June 13, 2007  03:37 PM ET

It can be done.

June 13, 2007  03:38 PM ET

Oh yeah...their 2 losses that year were by a combined 5 points. (One by 3...one by 2).

June 13, 2007  03:39 PM ET

The Super Bowl score was like 31-24 and the Bills scored like 14 points in the last few minutes, but it was just too little too late.

June 13, 2007  03:47 PM ET

....and scott norwood lines up for the kick with 8 seconds left.... and the snap.... the ball is down.... and the kick... WIDE RIGHT....WIDE RIGHT.... WIDE RIGHT..... lol

June 13, 2007  03:48 PM ET

Giants won 20-19...that sucks for the Bills because that was the closest they got.
