Dallas should have kept Devin Harris.

Dallas was better off with Devin Harris. Harris was better at scoring and altogether better at defense. Kidd has failed to create a spark for Dallas like Gasol has done for the Lakers. Dallas has snot beat a playoff team with Kidd, mainly due to his poor defense against the younger PG's and his lack of scoring. While Kidd is good at rebounding and assists, lots of point guards could rebound beter if they were more committed. He is a great passer but his lack of scoring and defense will hurt Dallas in the playoffs if they even get in.

Has snot beat a playoff team??? Ok, give the rookie the benefit of the doubt......

This trade (like the Phoenix trade) was done with a title in mind......The Mavs werent going to win one this year with Harris running the show......The Suns werent either........So they went out and got a big name and a better player

They improved slightly with the Kidd trade since he is a better overall player RIGHT NOW......How many triple doubles has Harris had this year???? Career????

Saying a lot of PG's could rebound BETTER (is the correct spelling) is hardly worth responding to..........

FYI: Even though he isnt as good a defender as he used t o be, Kidd is better defensively right now.......

Ok first of all, I left out one t in better, big deal. This isnt a spelling bee. You say Dallas is better off with Kidd, how many teams have they beat with a record above .500? NONE! The last time the Mavs played the Lakers, Kidd had to guard Bryant and Bryant went for 50 points, how can you say Kidd is better than Harris? I guarantee if you ask Tony Parker who he would rather play against on offense , he would say Kidd without a doubt. Even though the Suns are still ajusting with Shaq, they have beat a team above .500.

He had 19 points last night, but before that he had not scored more than 5 points his last 3 games. Last time I checked Kidd doesnt have a ring either, would help you in that regard. Look at the Nets, they have been playing much better since Kidd has left New Jersey. The results of both sides speak for themselves. Dallas has yet to beat a team over .500 and New Jersey is playing better without Kidd.

Its not a spelling bee, I am just trying to help you out since people will make snap judgements when they see an incoherent argument like you wrote......One big runon sentence........

ajusting=adjusting

Kidd has taken Nets to 2 Finals appearances.......

NJ is not playing better without Kidd.......They are 9-13 since the trade......

Dallas is 10-9..........????????

Kidd in Dallas: 9.1ppg, 9.5apg, 6.2rpg, 2.3spg, 41.4%, 46% on 3's.......

OK sorry I snapped. I do need to look over my arguements before I submit them.

Anyway, One could argue that NJ is playing better than Dallas because NJ record has improved without Kidd, while Dallas record has been worse with Kidd than it has been with Harris. But my biggest point of all is that Dallas has failed to beat a team over .500 with Kidd. Harris has taken the Mavs to one Finals apperance, and if he would have stayed in Dallas longer he would have had more. It is unfortunate that Dirk got hurt, because now Dallas is in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs. But while these two played together, they culd not beat a team over .500. When Dirk played with Harris, they are a perrenial 60-win team.

How do you say that it is all Kidd's fault that they havent beaten a team over .500??? He is ONE of a STARTING FIVE......

5 of the 9 were on the road.......

Of the 9 losses, most of those over .500 teams are playing close to .600 ball or better.......

The Nets are playing .390 ball with Harris and when they made the trade, I believe they were the 8th seed and are 1.5 games out now......

The Mavs still in the playoffs despite the losses to .500 and better teams

Yes, vote left. Kidd is really just a desperate attempt at an already lost playoff hope.

March 29, 2008  12:59 PM ET

If they dont make the playoffs, its because of Nowitzki getting hurt

The adjustment period with Kidd has been a little harder than Shaq with the Suns

March 29, 2008  01:00 PM ET

And Kidd has gotten them a brief moment of more national attention, but really, I still don't give a **** about the Mavs.

March 29, 2008  01:05 PM ET

Basically they mortgaged their future to try and win it all this year. I think he gave them a better chance to win it all this year until Dirk went out.

March 29, 2008  01:08 PM ET

C note how can you say that, they havent beat a team over .500 with Kidd even before Dirk went down.

March 29, 2008  01:17 PM ET

I think the biggest issue when Dirk went down was that the team wasn't gelling like it was thought they would. Experience at point guard would pay off come the playoffs.

March 29, 2008  01:17 PM ET

I would of rather had Jason Kidd than Devin Harris. Dallas may be doing bad right now because they lack a big man so it is not really KIdd's fault, plus, Kidd has more playoff expirience if they do get into the playoffs.

March 29, 2008  01:19 PM ET

No vote for either side. Why? I still think Dallas needs to be blown up after choking against Miami and Golden State back to back. Adding Kidd makes no differences because Kidd has never won anything either (yes, I know the two Finals appearances). Dirk is supposed to be the leader of this club and for lack of a better word, he is damaged goods. Did I spelled everything correctly DJ? =)

March 29, 2008  01:20 PM ET

Even before Nowitz got hurt, they needed another big man......

March 29, 2008  01:21 PM ET

Yes

Oden

But its no difference

LOL

March 29, 2008  01:21 PM ET

You could have voted based on arguments, though

March 29, 2008  01:28 PM ET

Alright dude, you got my vote for the grammar mistake! =)

March 29, 2008  01:29 PM ET

Wow, I did not know I would lose a vote over 2 grammar mistakes. That sucks.

March 29, 2008  01:30 PM ET

I thought Dallas made a bad move but I am little bias towards Harris.

March 29, 2008  01:39 PM ET

Sorry, Americas Team

He is joking

No offense but I got the better arguments

March 29, 2008  01:42 PM ET

no offense taken. But I still think the Mavs didnt improve with Kidd. Im not blaming Kidd alone for the recent stretch against under .500 teams, but they beat above .500 teams with the same group when Harris was point guard.

March 29, 2008  01:44 PM ET

They didnt improve a lot

But Kidd is better than Harris RIGHT NOW

He is a future HOF'er and has 2 seasons left

March 29, 2008  01:45 PM ET

They need a legit big man because they traded away a lot of depth in Diop (solid defender and rebounder), Hassell (great glue guy and defender) and Harris.......

They really should have gone after Shaq

It can be tough sometimes... I do not completely, automatically vote against someone because of grammar or syntax mistakes... but if the argument is not readable enough, or there are enough grammar/syntax errors, it does go into my decision. In the end, this is a debate forum, not merely a pick-the-most-popular-choice forum. Some will vote irrationally at times... I try to take a more holistic view. Being clear, concise and correct in your argument is important to sway voters to your thought processes...

I really like Devin Harris, the ol' Badger... but I think that there is simply more to Dallas' downfall than merely having Kidd instead of Harris. dj's arguments swayed me more, so I am voting right >>>>>>>>>

(and, just so you know, it is NOT because of grammar mistakes that this decision was made...)
