Picks 1rst, arguements 2nd and 3rd:
MY PICK IS.....RYAN HOWARD
Dyhard -- Badgers vs Marshall said 03/30, 12:05 AM
Prince Fielder
I'm arguing. That is a waste of an argument, especially when there are only two choices to pick from.
Anyway, on to the argument.
I picked Prince Fielder for a couple of reasons.
Prince Fielder is a good hitter, and last year, he did very well.
Prince Fielder:
50 HR
119 RBI
.288 BA
.395 OBP
.618 slugging %
165 hits
121 strikeouts
.989 fielding %
1163 putouts
99 assists
115 double plays
14 errors
Ryan Howard:
47 HR
136 RBI
.268 BA
.392 OBP
.584 slugging %
142 hits
199 strikeouts
.991 fielding %
1191 putouts
103 assists
124 double plays
12 errors
Prince Fielder had a better BA, better OBP, and a better slugging percentage. He also had less strikeouts.
If Howard wouldn't have missed those three weeks, he would've had a worse BA, worse OBP, worse slugging % than he already has. Plus, he would've had well over 200 stirkeouts. He set the record for stirkeouts in a season, and he missed 3 weeks!!
Another reason I picked Fielder over Howard, is because Fielder is a better fielder. Yes, Howard had the better fielding %, but only 2 errors seporated them. Remember, Howard missed 3 weeks. Howard would have more errors.

Okay, well lets look at the past two years between the two 2006 and 2007 their average homeruns are Fielder with 39 and Howard 53. That is there average number of homeruns over the past two years.
Average over 2 years for BA: Fielder .280 and Howard .291.
Average RBI is 22 years: Fielder 100, Howard 143
Average SLG over 2 years: Fielder .581 and Howard .622
Average OBP over 2 years: Fielder .371 and Howard .409
Average Hits over 2 years: Fielder 160 and Howard 162
Average strikeouts over 2 years: Fielder 121 and Howard 190
So, there are the averages over 2 years in hitting and as you see Howard is better except in strikeouts, he strikes out a lot, but hits more HR.
Average FLD % over 2 years: Fielder .991 and Howard is .991
Average PO for 2 years: Fielder 1211 and Howard has 1282
Average A for 2 years: Fielder 94 and Howard has 97
Average DP over 2 years: Fielder has 114 and Howard has 132
Average E over 2 years: Each have an average of 13 errors.
So, as you see again that Howard has better stats except for two and they have the same exact stats.
I will explain more in my next arguement because I don't have enough room.

Fielder doesn't have as good of a 2B and SS that the Phillies have, so his putouts, assists, and double plays will be less than Howard.
Fielder is only 23. Howard is older, and was older than Fielder in the last two years. Howard should have better stats. Howard is 28.
Howard has had more experience than Fielder. Howard has had more time to get better.
Fielder hasn't had that much experience in the MLB, and he still had an average of 13 errors between the last two years.
Ryan Howard, in his rookie year, he had 5 errors in 84 games. In his first full season, he had 14 errors.
Prince Fielder, in his rookie year, had 11 errors in 152 games.
That is a total of 3 less errors, and he was 5 years younger than Howard.
Howard has a lot of power, more than Prince Fielder, but Prince Fielder will be able to hit for a better average because he will have more experience.
Howard, in his second FULL season, set the major league strikeout record with 199 strikeouts. He missed 3 weeks!! Doesn't that say something to you? To me it says that if you need a hit, Howard will more likely strikeout than get a hit.
Howard:
Hits:142
Strikeouts:199
57 more strikeouts!!
YanksFan said 03/30, 06:22 PM
Howard would have passed Fielder in HR and RBIs if he wasn't injured becuase he is better with talent and has more power. Howard has better fielders, that is true and also Fielder does not have a bad SS in J.J. Hardy so he could still have more DP. That is why Howard is better.
Dyhard -- Badgers vs Marshall said 03/30, 06:55 PM
HR doesn't make the player. Hits, and fielding, and getting on base does. The way the player plays makes the player.
Fielder is a better fielder.
Plus, it is hard to compare these two because they are so similar. The only thing that is different is that Prince Fielder doesn't strikeout as much.
Howard had 57 more strikeouts than hits last year. That is not impressive at all.
If Howard came off the bench one game, what is more likely going to happen, Howard striking out, or Howard getting a hit? Howard is more likely going to strikeout.
Prince Fielder had 165 hits compared to 121 strikeouts. That is 44 more hits than strikeouts.
If Fielder came off the bench, what is more likely going to happen? Fielder is going to to get a hit.
That is what you want from a player, a player who is going to get a hit more than he is going to strikeout.
He was injured for 3 weeks and still got the strikeout record. That isn't impressive at all. He beat it by 4 striekouts. If he would've played those three weeks, he wouldn't have a lot more K's thean what he had.
That is why I choose Fielder.

WHY WHY WHY???!!!!
Pick first only has any sort of relevance and reason IF he can PICK! Seeing how you gave him ONE option, what the hell? You know what he is going to pick. So just put up an argument.

He could of HAD a hot streak, yes, but I don't think that he won't strikeout at all. He will strikeout and get above 200 strikeouts. I also think that he will have 2 or more errors in those weeks.
