AL West-Seattle Mariners: The Mariners, if you haven't noticed, have a very good pitching staff...The top three starters are very good in Bedard, King Felix, and Chief Silva. Washburn and Batista aren't exactly slouches either. The offense was 12th in MLB in runs last year, and they added Brad Wilkerson to the outfield, plus, the young guys have added another year of experience. All signs point to a Mariner win in the West.
AL Central-Cleveland Indians: The Indians, of course, won the AL Central last year, with the exact same lineup. The Tigers made a splash in the offseason, but Willis struggled in the NL, and now he's moving to the AL. Cabrera will help, but how much can one guy do? The Indians are the more balanced, better team.
AL East-Boston Red Sox: They will overcome the struggle early after starting in Japan, but they don't have the types of major question marks that the Yankees have, and they have Manny in a contract year, what more could you want?
WIldcard-New York Yankees: The Yankees do have those question marks in the rotation, but they ALWAYS find a way to sneak into the playoffs. The offense is just way too good for the Bronx Bombers to miss the playoffs.

I agree with everything, except the wildcard. I take the Tigers.
The Tigers have an all-around better team. Comparisons of regular starters:
1B - Jason Giambi vs. Carlos Guillen - Guillen
2B - Robinson Cano vs. Placido Polanco - Polanco
SS - Derek Jeter vs. Edgar Renteria - Jeter
3B - Alex Rodriguez vs. Miguel Cabrera - A-Rod
C - Jorge Posada vs. Ivan Rodriguez - Rodriguez
CF - Melky Cabrera vs. Curtis Granderson - Granderson
LF - Johnny Damon vs. Jacque Jones- Damon
RF - Bobby Abreu vs. Magglio Ordonez - Ordonez
DH - Hideki Matsui vs. Gary Sheffield - Sheffield
6-3 Tigers.
Running out of time...will argue more in 2nd argument.

The Tigers no doubt have retooled and reloaded this offseason, adding Cabrera, Willis, and Renteria, but you have to look at who the teams play this year.
The Tigers have to play the Twins, who may be young, but they can surprise (*cough* homer *cough*), the White Sox, who improved their team after last year, and the Indians. They have one easy team in the Royals.
The Yankees get the Red Sox and Jays, but then after that, it's the ORIOLES and RAYS.
As to your rankings of the players...
1B-Guillen...
2B-Polanco
SS-Jeter
3B- A-Rod
CF-Granderson
LF-Damon
RF-Abreu
C-POSADA!!! Posada had an incredible year last year, and as you seem to be going off of last year's stats, I don't know how you are saying that Posada is worse than Pudge. Over their careers, Pudge has had better stats, but he's started to tail off while Posada has come on strong.
DH-MATSUI!!! Sheffield and Matsui have fairly equal power over the last three years, and Sheff is 39 years old...you think that might come into play any time during the year???
That's 5-4 in favor of the Yankees....
The Yankees have the better lineup, and they have a much easier schedule....
