All bias aside I would have to argue they have the best shot in the SEC.

3 reasons Why:

1. Returning starters with experience in big games on both sides of the ball.
- The returning starters on offense and defense are seasoned, even the 5 starters the Dawg's lost from last years 11-2 program shared ample playing time with the current starters who will be replacing them this year.

2. A every game running back for the first time in a long time in Knowshon Moreno
- Georgia has been plagued by injuries at running back over the years having to rely on multiple backs, this year could be the chance for a very good running attack for the Dawgs. With Southerland, who has developed into a great blocking FB, clearing the road for Moreno one would think he has a very good shot at breaking 2,000 yrds and 15TD's.

3. No real contender in the SEC..!?
- I'd be stupid to say any team in the SEC doesn't have a shot at knocking off Georgia this year but the two biggest Tests will be Florida and based on rivalry alone Tenn. Every year, no matter what the record of the lesser of the two teams is, that game is a toss up.

More to come....

Ok, I will say that Georgia will porbably NOT win the SEC Championship and i will rebutt your 3 arguments.

1. Just because they have returning starters with big game experience doesnt guarantee them fo anything. Look at the Patriots. Most of their starters were part of the group that won 3 SBs in 7 years, and they lose to the Giants on the greatest stage of all. Despite what the media hypes and what they want you to think, experience has nothing to do with winning chamiponships. its all about momentum and luck: being able to stay injury-free and keeping momentum on your side.

2. An every game running back is good to have, especiay in college. But they cant rely solely on the running game. It would make them too one-dimesional and easy to attack with various defensive packages. Now if Moreno was used in an every game situations trategicaly, it might work. But just feeding him the ball and telling him to run could get predictable.

3. Arent you leaving out LSU, who not only happens to be the SEC Champs currently, but um, also the NATIONAL CHAMPS?? Until proven otherwise, Les Miles' Tigers are the team to beat in the SEC, not just Florida and Tennessee

I completly agree that experiance at the starting positions is not all you need. However, in regards to Momentum, I cant think of any team that had more momentum at the end of 07 then Georgia. Obviously I can't attest to any possible injuries as that is like you said based on luck, but having the experiance and if they can carry that momentum from last year into this season with the confidence they ARE one of the best teams in the SEC it will be a very formidable team for any SEC team to face.
Yes being 1 dimensional is never good, however the Dawgs aren't 1 dimensional by any means. With a big threat back like Moreno, all that is going to do is open up the passing game(Finally) for Stafford. I will be the first to admit that Stafford has not lived up to his potential, but I truly believe he will have a special year this year barring any injuires. With the constant threat of Knowshon slicing up Defenses Stafford should see a lot more open looks then he is used too.
True, LSU is the defending champions, but lets be honest, they have serious issues at quaterback going into spring ball, and they lost 10 very talented starters and leaders. Edge I think goes to UGA

OK very good points. But the SEC is the toughest fo all conferences, and Alabama was said to have had the besst recruiting class. No offense to Georgia's coach, but there are 4 or 5 other SEC coaches that are capable of bringing more out of their players. Georgia, Flroida, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU will all be in the discussion at the end of the year. So eorgia is not a clear cut favorite.

"Obviously I can't attest to any possible injuries as that is like you said based on luck"........AND THEN YOU SAY....."I will be the first to admit that Stafford has not lived up to his potential, but I truly believe he will have a special year this year barring any injuires. "

So even you realize injuries are a factor. Moreno can get injured. Stafford can get injured. Maybe Georgia starts 0-2 and loses to a Div 1-AA like Michigan, who was a fave for the NC last year, did. It is not reasonable to say just based on 3 factors that Georiga will win the SEC Championship, when there are so many teams that are not only better, but are capable of winning it all, not just the SEC.

I am confused why you are talking about non SEC teams and the Natl. Champ. when the topic is who will win the SEC Championship. That aside, I am basing my argument on what I know right now, and what I know right now is no one is injured(OLB discluded), and Georgia DOES have one of the most talented and veteran squads in the SEC. You say Stafford/Moreno could get injured, they could also not get injured...you really cant bring that into discussion realistically.

I was not basing my argument soley on those three factors, I chose those as the three most influential reasons I believe they will win. In regards to Stafford and the passing game, whats wrong with admitting short cummings in the past? Stafford ended last season with 2500+ yards, 19 TD's and QB rating of 128.9. Imagine what he will do with a Heisman caliber Tailback relieving pressure on the passing game and a more seasoned line and Skilled position set?

The fact that you said TN will be in the discussion for the SEC championship is ridiculous. They are by far the most undertalented Team of the major players in the SEC. Also, Mark Richt's record at Georgia is 72-19, id say he gets results from his players

What teams did I mention that are not in the SEC? I mentioned LSU, FLorida, TN, Auburn, Alabama, all SEC teams? Do you even know the teams in the SEC? BUt thats besides the point.

You mentioned earlier that you are absing this on what you know now. Well what we know now is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. We wont know anything until the week of the SEC Championship game. Until then, its all talk, and its all going to be about the 6 or so teams I mentioned above.

You also said trhis:
"True, LSU is the defending champions, but lets be honest, they have serious issues at quaterback going into spring ball, and they lost 10 very talented starters and leaders. Edge I think goes to UGA"

Every team loses players every year. Its not just about the players. Its about how those players are coached as well. Most teams lose alot of players to the draft. But every year its the same teams coming out on top. What does that tell you? It tells me that losing players dont mean jack. Lots of coaches bring out the best in their players, no matter how crappy they were before that. And the best coaches to do that are in the SEC. The SEC title is up for grabs in 2008, just like any other year.

Righ off the bat my aplogies for miss spelling Championship:) I swear I am a undiagnosed dyslexic! Goodluck RU!

Goodluck RaB, and its cool, i make tons of typos too, lol

April 1, 2008  05:19 PM ET

Georgia will most likely win the National Championship next year. Probably over my Buckeyes.

April 1, 2008  05:23 PM ET

The third argument by RU is irrelevant. LSU lost many players to the draft. Vote left.

HA - well I am not miss cleo, the point was to, based on last year and current facts backup that Georgia has the best chance at the SEC chamionship title. Otherwise what is the point of a throwdown if you cant predict something and back it up with the current facts? Anyways, it was good to hear someone elses perspective - thanks!

April 1, 2008  06:19 PM ET

welcome, and i understand your point totally, and predicions are good, but thats why i argued your prediction, because im predicting that any one of 6 teams will have a shot at it

April 1, 2008  06:20 PM ET

Didn't LSU lose their starting QB, Glenn Dorsey, and Perriloux (spelling) is in big trouble? Advantage, Georgia.

April 1, 2008  06:22 PM ET

UGA WILL NOT WIN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP BUT THE NATIONAL TITLE! UGA ain't playin games this year.

Well, there is Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, more teams in the SEC than just LSU. Advantage NOBODY, especially not Georgia

April 1, 2008  06:32 PM ET

Bama, and TN = NO chance, again based on current personel and talent level. Florida has a very good shot, I just think Georgia is really thriving off of last years momentum, they got a taste of what it could be like if they live up to thier hype and they liked it. No one knows what will happen, I just really think Georgia is the logical favorite to win the SEC
