Most Ignorant thing to happen in Baseball the last 5 years.

In my mind the most ignorant moment in baseball the last 5 years was when Randall Simon hit one of the sausages in the sausage race at Miller Park during a Brewers game. It was totally uncalled for Simon to do that and was a true act of ignorance.


Well, that was pretty dumb and ignorant, but I got one for you. I don't know if it has to be Major League baseball, but at least it was in the minors. Delmon Young throwing the bat at the umpire after being called out on strikes. That is a true act of ignorance.

If it has to be major league baseball. How about when the two White Sox fans jumped out of the stands at a game and attacked the first base coach. I think it was the coach. Anyway, there is another ignorant act just in case it had to be in the BIGS.


Minor League is fine. I agree that Delmon Youngs stunt was dumb, but he was in the heat of the moment and lost his temper. ( Not to make an excuse for what he did) Simon watched these sausages run all the way around the field, and then he decided to hit one of them with is bat.

I think Simons is worst because it could have potentially caused more damage. Both could have been serious, dont get me wrong; but one was a umpire and one was a girl. The umpire got hit in the chest as I remember, and he has padding right there. ( Im sure it still hurt) This girl was hit up by the face if I remember right, and she only had the costume to protect her. My main point for this arguement is that Young did something when he completely lost his temper; Simon was sitting in the dugout as he watched all the sausages come around. He had plenty of time to think his method through before he did it.


Ohhhh, I think I have a new one to throw out there. How about when that minor league manager when nuts after getting throw out of the game. He covered home plate. Blew the rosan (spelling :)) bag up like a grenade at the umpire's feet and then blew kisses to the crowd as he left. He did more than all that but I don't remember it all.

Also, to respond to a comment below, throwing a bat at someone, especially an umpire, qualifies as an ignorant act. How childish and pointless is it to throw a bat at a another person b/c he called you out on a bad pitch!

Well because ignorance is state of not knwoing or being uneducated. Throwing a bat does not qualify for that in my opion. I think that it would have to be provoked. Delmon Young knew what he was doing so it was stupid and dumb but not ignorant.
