So much has been mde about the Giants. The bottom line is that the defensive line just bincredibly stoppped the Pats. They were OUTSTANDING ! They beat the top dogs and my (NE Pats). Thats not the TD. I DO NOT believe that Eli Manning beat the Pats. The Giants defense held the most prolific scoring team to 14 points! Eli didnt win that game ! The Giants DEFENSE won that. For all teh Gints fans out there saying how great he is NOW... look under that 32nd st bus ya all threw him under ! The Giants defense won the Super Bowl. THey were OUSTANDING ! Take it away and imagine, but they were the MVP's

I am a little confused as to what you are really saying here, but I'm guessing the main theme is: "the Giants front four on defense was the biggest reason the Giants won the Super Bowl." This isn't true. They didn't make that dramatic last minute drive, they just held the Pats in check. In other words, the defense did their part and gave the offense a chance to win.

Ultimately, the biggest reason the Giants won was that they, as a team, decided the Pats were not invincible, and they could be beat. It was also the remarkable play of Eli and the marvelous job by the Giants' secondary, along with the front four. To merely give it to the front four is a huge detraction from the marvelous job the DBs did against the best passing offense in history. A big reason the Giants line got to Brady so much was there wasn't a throw.

And I do agree with the MVP choice of Eli. He played nearly a perfect game, and led them on the game wining drive that included what really may have been the best play in football history. In this game you either had to give the MVP to one person or the whole team, and it makes more sense to go with one person, thus Eli is the deserving MVP.

First, this was a TD that I challenged about the better pick.. Brady at 199 or Manning (Eli) at # 1.. but since you took it instead of that wuss Giant fan, ok.

"Ultimately, the biggest reason the Giants won was that they, as a team, decided the Pats were not invincible, and they could be beat. It was also the remarkable play of Eli and the marvelous job by the Giants' secondary, along with the front four. "

Oh for petes sake, BLAH BLAH BLAH. Get the hell over it ! The Giants defense won the SB. The Patriots were 30 seconds from winning that game! Oh MY GOD ! Give it a REST about Eli.
OK, Thats done. Any Giant fan who denies that they wanted Eli traded and Coughlin fired at week 5??? raise hands??
yeah. Thats what I thought.
Lets face facts. Manning has struggled for 3 years.
Yes ! I agree, The New York Giants won ! YAY GIANTS !
Did you watch the same game? The Giants defense held the most incredible scoring offense ever, to FOURTEEN points ! Are you KIDDING? The Giants offense didnt win that game. Mike Strahan and his defense did.
This is such an insane argument.
No fan even PATRIOT fan who saw that game will credit the Giants offense over the Giants defense..

Wow, you sound bitter that your team is now the worst 18-1 team in history.

And yes, Eli has struggled, but he has more rings than Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, and Chris Carter combined. He also has more rings than Randy Moss and Junior Seau. In fact, he has more rings than Tom Brady since Manning joined the NFL. So stop dogging him.

In fact, I am already tired of this TD. You make little sense and are obviously bitter about your team blowing it. In all honesty the biggest reason the Giants won was the Pats took it for granted. Sure, the Giants played magnificently as a team, but the Giants best was nowhere near the Pats best.

Im not at all bitter. On the contrary. I thought it was an excellent game.
And I dont care about losing a TD.
You will never convince me, that the Giants defense didnt win that game.
They rattled Brady and the Patriots offense so badly that they couldnt move the ball. AT all. They shut down the most powerful offense in decades.
Eli Manning scored 17 points. Thats it. 17 points. It was enough to beat the Patriots that day but it wasnt the Eli Manning show.
It was the Strahan and company show.
17 points is nothing in a football game.

I am in not discrediting what Manning did in those last 30 seconds. But if the Giants defense had done what every other defense did all season, the Patriots would have had 42 points and those 17 that Eli managed would be NOTHING.
That last TD would have just been a mercy TD.
It wasnt though. That TD gave the Giants the win ONLY because the defense kicked some Patriot offensive **** all game long.

I don't need to convince you, I just need to convince the voters.

Eli was the MVP and had good numbers. Your original point, in case you forgot, was that Eli didn't deserve the Super Bowl MVP. At least it is what you indicated in your opening argument. And I am convinced that even if the Giants defense played like they did, without Eli it would have been for nothing.

Eli finally stepped up and played like a star on a big stage, and his performance earned the MVP award. It is stupid to credit the Super Bowl win to any one player or section of the team. The entire team contributed in large amounts to get the win. But I believe Eli's performance was more impressive than the D-line's performance.

What do you need to do to win? You need to SCORE POINTS.

What the defense did was give the offense an opportunity to do that. And they did, and the Giants won.

this is old news anyway, its April, draft time, not SB

Everybody scores points. Thats not what you need to win. What you need to win is to score MORE points than your opponent. Cuz even the losing team scores points.

April 4, 2008  04:58 PM ET

Well the defensive had a huge job in front of them, stopping Brady, but if your offense doesn't do good you can't score and win. Even though the defensive had a HUGE role in the Super Bowl victory, would the Patriots be undefeated if Eli Manning and David Tyree didn't play well? Probably. KP is on the right track, but I'm voting right.

What Manning and Tyree did was a single moment. Take away the effort of the front 7 and you have a blowout like there used to be in the 90's.

The Giants offense did just enough to win the game. But the D-line should have shared the MVP.

April 4, 2008  05:31 PM ET

GRRRRR
You people dont know football ! Eli is a pansy ****
That DEFENSE won that game !

April 4, 2008  05:33 PM ET

Oh for the love of peace, can ya JUST WAIT !
Wait till we make all arguments !
The TD was SUPPOSED to be about some hothead Eli fan vs Brady..
and it got changed somehow ...

April 4, 2008  06:09 PM ET

I think you handle the GRRRRRRR very well all by yourself. I'm not sure that it's that people disagree with your point, but more that you present it in an unclear manner. Whenever I argue that the Giants defense didn't win the game I normally get yelled at and shot, especially if I'm in NY.

April 4, 2008  06:10 PM ET

The Giants won it...

April 4, 2008  06:19 PM ET

I'm holding my vote until all the arguments are in and my blood sugar isn't as low as it is now.

April 4, 2008  06:21 PM ET

The Giants won it...

STS | 04/04/08

I am VERY aware of that !
The Giants defense was the key. NOT Eli Manning

April 4, 2008  06:27 PM ET

You asked who won the SB you didnt say what was the main reason the Giants won the SB... just stating the facts sit.

April 4, 2008  07:01 PM ET

HAHA KPkahder looked what happens when you try to prove me wrong, you get beat down 19-3. That is hilarious. Now shut up and accept the fact that Eli played a big part in beating the undefeated (make that 18-1) Patriots
