Only retired players. Not in order.

1. Jim Brown
2. Jerry Rice
3. Joe Montana
4. Lawrence Taylor
5. Deacon Jones
6. Johnny Unitas
7. Walter Payton
8. Don Hutson
9. Dick Butkus
10. Bob Lilly

What kind of list is that?? No Offensive Lineman?? Cmon now.......Where would Payton OR Brown be without the big brutes up front???

No Order

1) Joe Montana
2) Jerry Rice
3) LT
4) Anthony Munoz
5) Don Hutson
6) Walter Payton
7) Dick Butkus
8) Deacon Jones
9) Bruce Mattews
10) Barry Sanders

Now, I dont care if I lose this TD......But O-Lineman NEVER get any respect when making all time lists. Why would you omitt the guys who are responsable for paving the way??

Munoz is probably the best Tackle in NFL history, followec by Jackie Slater. Munoz was a monster and a true immovable object. Bruce Matthews is one of 2 players in the history of the NFL to go to 14 consecutive Pro Bowls... The other is Merlin Olsen, who I want to put on the list. Matthews made the PB as both a center and a Guard. Made All Pro as both a center a guard as well. He got 12 AP nods from the media.....

In his 19 year career....He started EVERY GAME, EVERY SEASON but one. Out of the 296 games he played in the NFL, he started 292 of em.

I understand what you are saying. And I also understand that sometimes offensive linemen don't get enough respect. But, let's face the facts here.

There are so many great offensive and defensive players, that the offensive linemen really cannot compare to.

If you were starting a football team, who would you rather have, Joe Montana (arguably the greatest QB ever) or Anthony Munoz (arguably the greatest tackle ever)?

I would take Montana. A quarterback makes a bigger impact than an offensive lineman.

But thats not the point. My question to you is: How can you not include Bob Lilly, one of the greatest defensive players of all-time?

Barry Sanders, had he played a few more years, could be the greatest ever. Bob Lilly was a beast. 11 time Pro Bowler and 10 time All pro. Just amazing.

And, where is Jim Brown? IMO, Jim Brown is a top 3 player ever. He completely changed the way NFL running backs were. His combination of size and speed is one of the greatest. Also, he has the stats. He's 8th all time in TDs with 126. 8th in rushing yards. 9 time Pro Bowler and 9 time all pro.

How can Jim Brown NOT be on your list? He changed the way the game was played, period.

I put Jim Brown on my list, then my page closed. I had to re-do my list and I guess I forgot him. Jim Brown is top 3 of all time for the RB spot.. I cant argue that

Even though I didnt put Brown on the list (accident only)......Your purposeful ommittion of any players on the Offensive line is not excusable. How can you overlook the guys that make it all possible...The offensive line is hands down the most important unit in the game football. With guys like Joe DeLamielleure, Jackie Slater, Art Shell, Gene Upshaw, Forrest Gregg, John Hannah, Dwight Stephenson, Jim Otto, and Mike Webster. These are the real hero's of football.....

Bob Lilly's All-Pro and Pro-bowl total doesnt come close to Bruce Matthews. Mattew's was the NFL's best interoir lineman for almost 2 decades. Besides Hannah, he is THE BEST interior lineman of all time.

Sorry, I was typing up my argument and didn't know you said it was an accident in the comments.

Purposeful? Partially. But I must ask you a burning question:

Who leads a team to a Super Bowl? An offensive tackle? No.

Who wins an MVP Award? A guard? No, never has that happened.

Who is the sparkplug of a game winning, Super Bowl-winning drive? A center? Of course not.

The offensive linemen, I will agree with you on one thing: When playing the game, they're important. But when it's all said and done and you're looking at their careers, who would you say is better?

Bob Lilly played 13 years and made the Pro Bowl 11 times. Bruce Matthews played 19 seasons and made the Pro Bowl 14 times. Doesn't even come close, huh? Yeah right.

Lilly played 6 less seasons than Matthews yet still Matthews made the Pro Bowl only 3 more times. That is what I call consistency, my friend.

Let me answer your questions....

Who leads a team to a Super Bowl?

An offensive tackle AND the Offensive line. Without them, there is no running lane or pocket to throw froms

Who wins an MVP Award?

A guard SHOULD be able to win a MVP and for you to "Dis-credit" his positition just becuase he doesnt score TD's is retarded

Who is the sparkplug of a game winning, Super Bowl-winning drive? A center?

Yes, A center is the sparkplug. The Spark-plugs MAIN responsibity is to give the enigine the spark it needs to start. Well, thats EXACTLY what the center does. He gives the "spark" (Ball) to the QB.

For you to completely bash the offensive line is pointless.....The RB's and QB's and WR's get put on thier respective pedistool by the LINEMAN in front of him. The offensive line is the MOST IMPORTANT UNIT in the NFL. They are what gets your team goin.....
