Coach Calipari said 3 weeks ago that his teams poor free throw shooting will not be an issue towards a National Title. Whoops! It looks like that statement came back to bit him. In fact Memphis chocked pretty badly in the final 2 minutes of that game last night. Who can argue that fact that Memphis collapsed on there own and Kansas was waiting to take advantaged. Yeah Big 12 Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't watch the game, but I think I know what you are talking about.

Memphis didn't lose just because of the free throws. There were probably a lot of other flaws, like missing 3-pointers, missing shots from the paint, etc. They didn't lose because they missed their free throws. Maybe that is one of the reasons, but it isn't all them missing free throws

I am sorry if you meant that it was one of the reasons.

Buccaneer how can you hope to win this TD without even having watched the game. It really was the Free Throws that killed them in the end.

April 8, 2008  08:55 PM ET

Yeah, it most certainly free throws down the stretch.

in the end..........

April 8, 2008  09:07 PM ET

It was so much about the free throws I dont know why anyone would of even accepted this td! Arniss is leaving much open to argue about

isnt

April 8, 2008  09:10 PM ET

in the end they needed to foul. They still should have won in regulation even missing the foul shoots. They were 5 for 9 in the last 5 minutes that's not that bad

April 8, 2008  09:21 PM ET

It wasnt the free throws as much as they should of called a TO so the coach could of told them to foul... if they couldnt get the 3 off they couldnt tie go to overtime or lose in over time.

They were 1/5 from the line in the last 75 seconds. CDR was 6-6 before that and went 0-3 in the end. That's crumbling under pressure and having the law of averages bite you in the **** hard. But, they should have fouled at the end too.

April 8, 2008  09:55 PM ET

that is in the end. how did they do the rest of the game on free throws??

I'm not even going to wait for the end. Only reason; everything else derives from this simple fact. MAKE YOUR FREE THROWS! Last I checked shooting 60% from the line didn't qualify as "not that bad". That's bad; that's so many wasted free points.
How'd you miss this game Buc!?
