Lets compare stats here:
Youkilis vs Pena
avg:288-282
hr:16-46
rbi:83-121
sb:4-1
edge Pena
Polanco vs Sanchez
avg:341-304
hr:9-11
rbi:67-81
sb:7-0
edge:Sanchez
Duncan vs Brynes
avg:259-286
hr:21-21
rbi:70-83
sb:2-50
edge Brynes
Harang vs Bannister
win:16-12
losses:6-9
k/9:8.5-4.2
whip:1.14-1.21
era:3.73-3.87
edge Harang. However, i do not consider Harang underated because of the fact that he is the ace of the reds. Bannister came up mid season and did not get as many starts.
Corpas vs Gregg
win:4-0
sv:19-32
k/9:6.7-9.3
whip:1.06-1.23
era:2.08-3.54
edge:even
I do not consider this a fair matchup because of the fact corpas came up midyear.. I call it even because gregg has a lot higher k/9.

I guess you think stats are everything, right? They they prove who is better?
WRONG. BIG TIME WRONG.
Pena is NOT underrated. Everyone knows about this guy and how big a masher he is. Heck, in my fantasy baseball league he was drafted IN THE SECOND ROUND!!! Do you call that underrated? No.
Harang really is underrated. Since you go by stats, I will too. And you shouldnt even be comparing Harang to Bannister, you should compare him to Oliver Perez, who I took off my list. I still have Bannister.
During the past 4 seasons, Harang has had a total of 53 wins. In his last two seasons he has had 16 wins each, and last season he came in 4th in Cy Young voting, yet this guy never gets any credit.
How is Corpas and Gregg even? You went by STATS. The STATS show Corpas is better than Gregg. Hey buddy, I'm just using what you did. You're pretty much contradicting yourself.
Sanchez has an edge HOW? Placido Polanco was third in the much-more-powerful AL in BA. Sanchez did not finish in the top 10 in any NL batting category. Just because Sanchez has more homers doesn't mean jack. Polanco finished 17th in AL MVP voting, and yet no one knows about him. Sanchez didn't obviously.

Report Offensive CommentPena isn't underrated in the least. Mabey a little overrated. He gets mad props for having a career year. He just had a huge explosion last year and no one knows if he can repeat. Plus, he is one of the worst defensive 1st basemen in the league.
J (Browns 19-0) Carbathlee | 04/11/08, 03:12 PM
Report Offensive Commenti never hear pena as among the top 25 fist baseman in the league however "J"
Drainer*BS | 04/11/08, 03:20 PM
Report Offensive CommentSome of these guys are just bad, not underrated.
Porkins | 04/11/08, 03:21 PM
Report Offensive CommentSorry drainer I'll have to pass this one up, you did too good of a job. I don't want to only have one or two differences.
Sully. | 04/11/08, 03:21 PM
Report Offensive CommentIt's a little unclear as far as determining who is actually underrated because everyone has different views and not everyone has the same criteria. One player who is deemed underrated by one person might seem overrated by another.
The Bandit | 04/11/08, 03:41 PM
Report Offensive CommentYeah, thats true. But I'm going to try my best to determine who is actually underrated.
0x NBA/NFL Champion | 04/11/08, 03:52 PM
Report Offensive CommentI really don't if people view my guys as underrated, so I will have to decline this, sorry.
0x NBA/NFL Champion | 04/11/08, 04:11 PM
Report Offensive CommentCloser should be Jason Ishringhausen.
RHATER is Gone. | 04/11/08, 04:26 PM
Report Offensive CommentI don't really consider Eric Byrnes underrated. Most people have known he's good for a while now.
RHATER is Gone. | 04/11/08, 04:27 PM
Report Offensive Commentisrinhausen is not underated.
Drainer*BS | 04/11/08, 04:31 PM
Report Offensive CommentI think Byrnes is overrated actually.
erwin: Back Again. | 04/11/08, 04:39 PM
Report Offensive CommentHuh. I think Byrnes is just good. Not over or under. Love the pick of Harang. He's still underated, but I consider him the most well known "underrated" player. Does that still make him underrated? Not sure. I'll wait. Polanco is a great pick too. DUNCAN? Okay, I've watched him a lot, and he's just bad. His glove is horrible, he strikes out way too much for the number of HRs he hits, and he is a slow runner.
RHATER is Gone. | 04/11/08, 04:46 PM
Report Offensive CommentHe should be traded, but the Cards won't because his dad, Dave Duncan, is the Cardinals' pitching coach.
RHATER is Gone. | 04/11/08, 04:46 PM
Report Offensive Comment^ Duncan, that is.
RHATER is Gone. | 04/11/08, 04:47 PM
Report Offensive CommentYou guys both have good lists. However, I feel there are a few guys that are underrated who aren't on either are Brad Hawpe, Tom Gorzelanny, Garrett Arkins, and Brandon Phillips.
0x NBA/NFL Champion | 04/11/08, 04:47 PM
Report Offensive CommentI thought about Phillips too. I'm not really sure Gorzelanny is underrated. He's the ace of the Pirates!
erwin: Back Again. | 04/11/08, 04:54 PM
Report Offensive CommentYeah, but Harang is the ace of the Reds, and he is underrated.
0x NBA/NFL Champion | 04/11/08, 04:55 PM
Report Offensive CommentSome players on this list may be underated to me just because they play in the National League, but erwin, great pick on Placido Polanco. Because of that, I'll vote for you.
You could also make a strong case for Howie Kendrick at 2nd or Mike Lamb at third.
Never heard of Lamb? There you go . . . look up last season's stats . . .
Dawgee - U-M owns all | 04/11/08, 04:56 PM
Report Offensive CommentTrue...
And to Hater, Duncan isn't that horrible. When you hit 21 homers and drive in 70 guys in just 127 games, I think that's pretty decent, don't you?
