NFL Season predictions: Awards

We'll predict who will win every award. Just have your list in your first argument.

NFL MVP: Tony Romo

NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: Darren McFadden

NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year: Vernon Gholston

NFL Coach of the Year: Ken Whisenhunt

NFL Comeback Player of the Year: Dwight Freeney

NFL MVP: Peyton Manning

NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: Darren McFadden

NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year: Vernon Gholston

Coach of the Year: Tony Dungy

Comeback Player: Donovan McNabb

Well, first for our MVPs...

Peyton Manning is still one of the league's best quarterbacks. But Tony Romo is right up there with him. Romo threw 36 touchdowns last season, leading the NFC and second in the NFL. He's only 27 years old, and I think he's just entering his prime. With all the weapons the Cowboys have, he'll be the MVP.

Tony Dungy for Coach of the Year? I don't think so. His Colts are so good every year that it's not much of a surprise anymore to see them win 12 games. But Ken Whisenhunt has just completely turned around a historically bad Cardinals team. After finishing 8-8 last season, they will only get better behind the leadership of Whisenhunt.

Donovan McNabb for comeback player? No. First, he still played 14 games, while Freeney played just 9 games and had a career-low 3.5 sacks. McNabb had a pretty decent season. Here are his stats.

Yards: 3324
TD: 19
INT: 7
Completion%: 61.5
Rating: 89.9

That's really a pretty nice season there.

Freeney was known as one of the NFL's best edge rushers, but only played 9 games due to injury. He'll definitely regain that step and maybe get 10 or more sacks.

Peyton still has great weapons also Wayne, Harrison, Clark, Addai, and Gonzalez are way better than Romo's weapons of T.O. and Witten. We have only seen Romo for 2 years, one great one and another solid one. Every year Peyton has great years, he is a lock for close to 30 TDs and about 4,000 yards. I believe the Colts come into this season with something to prove and Peyton has one of his best season's as a pro while leading his team to a great record and winning the MVP.

Where does it say that the coach of the year has to be a surprise team? Like I said I think the Colts will put together a great season and will win Dungy the coach of the year. For the Cardinals, how has one 8-8 season "completely turned around" this team. There D is bad and the only thing that Whisenhunt has done put in a quarterback by committee system that is ridiculous.

McNabb stats were ok but they are worse than they look, check out the game logs, he had some really good games(8 tds came in 2 games) and the rest were pretty average or bad. I predict that McNabb will realize that his window is closing, he has to win now and will put up much better numbers this year.

I need more room Good Luck.

Peyton Manning is a proven player. But Tony Romo's younger and has a TON of talent around him on the offensive side of the ball. He has T.O., arguably the league's best receiver, and Jason Witten, a top 3 tight end. Witten is almost like a number 2 receiver.

Peyton always has great years, and he is still a great player. But Romo's right up there with Peyton as the top QBs in the NFL, and he's played great. Romo's time has come.

I never said the COY had to be a coach from a surprise team. But sometimes it is. Remember Sean Payton in 2006? Taking the Saints from 3-13 to 10-6? Yes, that is what Whisenhunt is doing. The Cardinals have alwyas been horrible. But now I think they might have a real shot at the playoffs. All behind Whisenhunt.

McNabb had a pretty decent season, and that's what people are gonna look at: how well he did last year, and how well he does this year. McNabb really is declining, but he had a pretty good season. For most QBs that's a great season, when your QB rating is 90.

Dwight Freeney was known as one of the NFL's best pass rushers, then he was injured in week 9. Before that he had been having an off year. But he's rejuvenated now, and he'll win it.

Say what you want about Romo's weapons but the Colts still have one of, if not the best, offense in the league. Wayne and Harrison, there is not a better receiving core than that, a case could be made that both are better than T.O. Dallas Clark is known as a tight end that should play wide out. He is a great receiving threat also. Peyton Manning has much better offensive threats than Tony Romo has on offense and this will be the difference when Manning wins the MVP this upcoming season. The threat of Wayne, Harrison, Gonzalez, and Clark is just too much.

The Cardinals have a good offense but their defense is still bad, the only way they make the playoffs is if they win their division, even then they have to beat Seattle. There is no way they make a wild card in the NFC there are too many other teams better than the Cardinals. Whisenhunt won't win coach of the year if they don't make the playoffs.

Freeney's injury is one that takes quite a while to recover from, Kevin Jones had the same injury and didn't look the same this past year. Most likely he won't be fully healthy until halfway through the season. McNabb will be fully healthy and will put up great numbers this year

The only thing I agree with erwin is O-ROY. I'll wait for Philly to argue.

This is a very diverse topic Hater. So many different choices.

I also thought about putting Keith Rivers at DROY.

Cool. Prediction TD's. They're the coolest. Good selections erwin.

Report Offensive Comment

Exactly, erwin. Too hard to do prediction TDs. right now. So I have to wait to see which way I'm leaning.

Report Offensive Comment

Very tough to make predictions so early, even before the draft.

How can Mcnabb be comeback player when he played 15 games last season???

Report Offensive Comment

Because the award isn't about just overcoming an injury.

That's what I was gonna say. Maybe "bounce-back" player of the year. Oh, they don't have that award.

Report Offensive Comment

But I love the MVP for Tony Romo. I don't know if he'll get it, but I would love to see it.

Report Offensive Comment

McNabb is done. Hate to break it to you all. He'll get hurt. Just wait.

Report Offensive Comment

I have to go to work, Ill post my agrument when I get home.

Report Offensive Comment

If I could combine the picks, it would be easy to choose. No way does Romo get MVP (I would love to see it though). No way does McNabb get comeback player. No way does Whisenhut get COY. I'll wait to see how you each defend the picks.

Marvin Harrison for comeback player.

Now THAT'S possible.

Good first argument <------

Report Offensive Comment

I don't see why everyone is expecting Marvin to comeback and be much of an impact this season. He's getting old, I'm pretty sure last season was just a harbinger of things to come for the guy. I love him as wideout, but I really think he is in the twilight of his career.

Also possible. Both he and Harrison are better picks than McNabb.

Deuce Mcallister for Comeback Player of the Year. Bank on it!

Ha, imagine that, this coming from a guy that had Deuce as his avatar.
