Bye to manny said 04/11, 06:39 PM
I'm really just seeing whos gonna pick this up.
The Quarterback is involved in every single play. Whether its throwing or handing off or even kicking a field goal. The QB has the choice of what to do and where to go when the WR just hopes it works or if he can get open in time.
I sort of just think the QB has the ultimate decision and its kind of a more important job.
Deep South Sider said 04/11, 06:48 PM
If that quarterback is Brady, but if it's Rex Grossman, than your Wide outs need to be heros. Not only do they have to bail their lousy, indecisive leader out on almost every dropback, but they have to keep his wanning confidence level up so he doesn't screw up even more. Plus, they have to block for runnning plays while the QBs just stand and watch.
Bye to manny said 04/11, 07:05 PM
That works both ways. Bad Quarterback, Good recievers. Good quarterback, bad recievers. They do not have to bail out their "lousy, indecisive leader" out. Once that ball leaves the quarterbacks hands its the WR's responsibility. Or yes it could be the quarterbacks responsibility to get the ball straight to them.
The quarterback has the more important position. Don't get me wrong I know how hard those WR's run and I respect that. But the quarterback has to be good at knowing where to put the ball and how hard to throw it.
The Quarterback never just stands and watches. He has to know if a Linebacker breaks through and is on his way to a sack. And at the same time spot the open reciever.
Trust me that is hard to do. And when they dont see the linebackers, they can get smoked believe me. The quarterback usually touches the ball every single play. That has to matter some. The WR sometimes doesnt even get a pass on a full set of downs.
"Lousy, indecisive leader" catches my eye. The quarter back always has to be the leader out on the field. If he isnt then obviously the team doesnt have the right guy. He is the one who is responsible for pumping the team up before every game
Deep South Sider said 04/12, 12:15 AM
The quarterback does just stand and watch...when he hands the ball off on a running plays (that's what I was implying). Assuming most teams run the ball on at least 38% of their plays, the QB is just standing the same pocket zone for almost an entire game. Actually, if you think about it, all 21 other guys on the field move around more than your prototype Pro Bowl quarterback.
I think the only argument I can make that can convince people to think outside the obvious is that football has undoubtedly become the Thinking Man's Game (you have to be Belichick savvy with the salary cap and all). So what's the original Thinking Man;s Game? Chess! And as most people consider the most important piece in football and chess to be the Queen/QB, all the best chess players will tell you that it's just another piece on the board...Translation: EVERY PIECE (POSTION) MATTERS EXACTLY THE SAME WHEN PLAYING THE BEST!!!!
Your boy Brady was the league's "Most Important," but guess what?? It was the Giants TEAM that kicked his "Most Important" butt...especially Mr. Burress.
Bye to manny said 04/12, 03:44 PM
I just want too point something out ot you. Ya Burress hada good game and got the game winning catch and all. But it wasnt him who made the difference.
It was the Giants D-Line. They played an AMAZING game. They knew where to go and what to do on the Pats O-line. It wasnt Burress who made the difference, it was the D-Line.
Sometimes the QB scrambles. If there is not WR's open. He either throws it down, or scrambles. If you have ever seen Michael Vick he could be just as good as a runningback as QB.
The QB still has the more important job. If the WR's not open as I said before it is his responsibility to know what to do with the ball. It can work both ways this time too. The wide reciever doesnt have the opening and the QB has to bail him out. It works both ways with the WR
Deep South Sider said 04/12, 08:48 PM
No, the most important job on every team is the head coach (sometimes the GM). So you first admit that it was the Giants' D-line that had the amazing game; not Mr. Manning? That tells me that you know the most important element on every team in the game of football is the team leadership. That team leadership does not seclude itself to just one person that happens to hold the ball more.
Now, obviously, I would contradict my own arguments by siding with the true statement in the topic that would have me saying that WRs are more important than QBs. I know you were begging for a TD win, but I'm just trying to show you the light by proving that no postion is "more important" than any other when you are set to win Championships. Yeah, Brady has three, but where would he be without Belichick and his staff? And Peyton didn't get his ring until a guy named Bob Sanders came to town.

Qb is the most important position, WR is the least important.

Works both ways indeed. But you need a great QB. Great QB's make avg WR's look good. Tom Brady did it for a while.

Although it is pretty obvious that the QB is more important, they are also more involved in plays detrimental to the team such as fumbles via bad snaps and sacks. Interceptions as well but that is more of a contributory mistake where the WR is also partially at fault due to wrong routes, etc.

qb's are more important, but deep south did make a good point. QB'S are more important becuase everyone revolves around him on offense. Deeps south guy did say about the bears but that also if u look at their record they suc because grossman couldnt get the job done so its still more important

Ahh..Good Morning! I think the same things you all do. This is just an impossible TD that I'm trying to win (not looking good so far...probably because people think I'm totally serious.

when your QB sucks it doesn't matter who your receiver is. If it did, then why couldn't oakland do anything with Moss, but as soon as he gets a real QB, they both set records?
