All NFC East offense vs. All AFC East offense

No offensive line. I'm gonna say the NFC East.

QB: Tony Romo

RB: Brian Westbrook
RB: Marion Barber

WR: Terrell Owens
WR: Plaxico Burress
WR: Kevin Curtis

TE: Jason Witten

How CAN you pass up on the AFC East?

QB: Tom Brady

RB: Marshawn Lynch
RB: Ronnie Brown (before he went down)

WR: Randy Moss
WR: Wes Welker
WR: Jericho Cotchery

TE: Ben Watson

How can I? Simple...

I will give it to you at QB with Brady. Romo is very close though. He came in second in TD passes.

I definitely have the RB edge. Brian Westbrook had his best season as a pro last year, and Marion Barber, even thought he only got 204 carries, still finished 18th. Marshawn Lynch was 11th in the NFL in rushing, and although Ronnie Brown was having a good year, he still cannot match up with Barber.

Ah, Moss vs. Owens. I'll do stats first.

For one, Moss did not even catch the most passes on his team. Wes Welker did.

Moss

yards: 1493
TD: 23
YPC: 15.2

Owens

yards: 1355
TD: 15
YPC: 16.7

This is closer than you think. Moss was really his team's best red-zone threat. On the Cowboys, that was Jason Witten. I'm calling it even.

Burress vs. Welker

Burress

yards: 1025
TD: 12
YPC: 14.6

Welker

yards: 1175
TD: 8
YPC: 10.5

Welker caught more passes, but Plaxico didn't have that much less yards. He also averaged more yards per catch and caught more TDs. Edge Plax.

Curtis caught 5 less passes than Cotchery but only had 20 less yards. He also had more yards per catch and scored more TDs. Edge: Curtis.

TEs will be next.

Romo is nowhere near close. Brady threw 14 more TDs while throwing 11 less INTs! Not to mention Brady set the passing TD mark and became just the third QB to average 300 yards passing/game.

Ronnie Brown can definitely match up with Barber. Despite playing in 9 less games, Brown only had 373 less rushing yards, and 7 less TDs. Not to mention, Brown was leading the league in yards from scrimmage, and had he played the whole season would've had more yards from scrimmage than Westbrook.

And you realize Moss still had 98 catches, right? Who cares if he didn't lead his team in that category, 98 is STILL more than Owens. And you say Witten was the RZ threat on the Boys? He had 4 RZ TDs - Owens had 6, almost as many as Witten's total TDs. Not to mention Owens was 3rd in the NFL with 10 dropped passes.

Welker was insane last year. 65 first downs, only 4 drops on 112 catches. Not to mention the SB-tying record of 11 catches. Lets not forget Welker was his team's #3 WR too.

As for Cotch, he was playing on a team with terrible QBs and it's amazing that he reached 1000 yards.

And as for TEs, Ben Watson had almost as many TDs as Witten despite being with Moss and Welker

In terms of production, Romo isn't all that far back. Not sure why I'm still arguing it though, I gave it to you.

Ronnie Brown can match up? Sure, but Barber spilt carries with the mediocre Julius Jones. Barber did get more carries, but not much more: only 40 more than Jones. Barber was better than Brown in nearly every statistical category.

Moss did have 98 catches. I am not saying he didn't. I'm not saying he didn't have a good year; he did. I guess right now I'll call it even. T.O. also played one less game than Moss. There's not a huge difference in yardage. By the way T.O. was going, he might have been able to catch up with Moss in one game.

I'll call Welker and Plax even. We're not talking about the SuperBowl here. Welker caught a lot of passes, but still didn't get that much yardage. Plax caught only 70 passes yet still isnt too far behind in yardage. Also Plax had more TDs. I say even.

"it's amazing that he reached 1000 yards." So are you saying it's amazing because he's never been that good, or that he had bad QBs? Curtis played on an average team, and his QB couldn't even play a whole season.

Witten has arguably the best year of anyTE. 96 catches. WOW. GOOD

I told you, Romo is FAR back. 600 less passing yards, 14 less TDs, 11 more INTs.

Before you say Brown can't match up, look at per game stats. In fact, to make it easier, Brown's 16 game stats were 1376 Rushing Yards and 9 TDs, to go along with 890 Receiving Yards and 2 TDs. That beats Westbrook's 2104 yards from scrimmage, and Barber as well.

One game? What? TO was 17 catches, 138 Yards, and 8 TDs behind Moss. If he caught him that'd be the greatest game by a WR in NFL history, so I doubt he would. That's a HUGE difference.

Welker wasn't a yards per catch maker. Rather, he was a YAC maker. 634 YAC was the most in the NFL.

It's amazing he reached 1000 because his team was terrible. The Jets only threw for 3330 yards, so getting to 1130 is ridiculous. And besides, Cotch is a good WR. He had 960 last year. Besides, 11 of Curtis' catches, 221 of his yards, and 3 of his TDs came from 1 game. Remove those and his 66 catches, 889 Yards, and 3 TDs are very, very average numbers.

Witten had 7 TDs on those 96 catches. Watson had 6 on 39 catches and also missed 4 games, and only started 8. Had he played and started all 16 his numbers would be higher.

You also have to remember that Wes Welker had the best Yards After Catch average in the league.

True...

However, Welker did have 3 Fumbles, compared to Burress 0 Fumbles.

Report Offensive Comment

But Wes Welker had 1,200+ yards from scrimmage, while Plaxico Burress only had 1000+ yards from scrimmage.

I would have to call them even to this point.

^________Givin a little to both sides ..........

Well, yes, because I think it is pretty much even.

Take away Kevin Curtis's game against the Lions, and see his stats, haha.

Counter-acted to Welker's 4 drops compared to Burress' 6, and Burress didn't even catch half the passes thrown his way. Welker caught 77% of his.

This is true, that is why I said it was more even, than people think.

True.

Burress was mad injured last year though so I give him some props. Sprained Ankle, cartilage hanging off the bone in his knee and a separated shoulder.

Report Offensive Comment

Yes, that is true.

You should have done using the history of both divisions. Then there wouldnt have been a contest, The NFC east is historically the best division in the NFL.

Report Offensive Comment

Caveman, that would be the problem with the historic one. There would be no contest....

"You should have done using the history of both divisions. Then there wouldnt have been a contest, The NFC east is historically the best division in the NFL."

How? The QB battle is over the second Marino is mentioned, although the NFC East probably takes RBs with Smith and Dorsett maybe, although the AFC East had Martin and Thomas, Simpson and Csonka, etc.

WR? Hmm. . .AFC has Maynard, NFC has Irvin, Monk. . .there has to be other WRs from the AFC East though. I mean the Bills had Andre Reed.

There's like no one at TE though

And there's still no votes on this thing. ****?

He didn't have the highest average, but the most. His average was the highest for any player over 100 catches though. Greg Jennings had like 7.something but only on 52 catches
