Make the best possible lieup out of only MLB bench players:

C - Ramon Castro, New York Mets
1B - Dmitri Young, Washington Nationals
2B - Alexei Ramirez, Chicago White Sox
3B - Greg Dobbs, Philadelphia Phillies
SS - Omar Infante, Atlanta Braves
OF - Marcus Thames, Detroit Tigers
OF - Jacob Ellsbury, Boston Red Sox
OF - Andre Either, Los Angeles Dodgers

C-Jose Molina, New York Yankees
1B-Cliff Floyd-Rays
2B-Willy Aybar-Rays
3B-Greg Dobbs, Philadelphia Phillies
SS-Ronny Cedeno-Cubs
OF-Marcus Thames-Detroit
OF-David Dellucci-Indians
OF-Coco Crisp-Red Soxs

I picked Ramon Castro over Jose Molina for a few reasons - one is that Molina has never been more than an average hitter.

Another one of my reasons is that Ramon Castro hit .285 and 11 homeruns in only 144 at-bats last season, he could of been on pace for 44 homeruns.

Molina was on pace for . . . three . . .

I thought that Dmitri Young should be over Cliff Floyd.

Young hit .320 last year with 13 homeruns . . . and comeback player of the year.

Cliff Floyd isn't the same hitter he was five years ago and has seen a sharp decline in his stats.

Alexei Ramirez is a Cuban import who hit .335 with 20 homeruns last year. Ramirez is a far better hitter than Willy Aybar and Ramirez could hit .300 in the MLB this year.

I picked Omar Infante over many people because he is a solid hitter who will always give you a solid at-bat. What more, he is still young and still improving. Ronny Cedeno has never put up great stats in pinch hit at-bats.

Jacob Ellsbury - Coco Crisp. I won't argue that since we both had a misunderstanding of who is the starting centerfielder in Boston.

I picked Andre Either because he is a very young player and may hit 30 homeruns one day.

Forfeited Turn

Well, you don't give me anything to argue here . . .

I hope you get back from wherever place you were at . . .

Jose Molina has one of the best arms in all of baseball, the guy has a cannon and can throw people out while Castro is slow and not as good asd you said he is.Also Molina is hitting over .300 this year and will be for the rest of the year,he knows how to get on base and while on has more speed then Castro which will result in me scoring more then you,the point of the game right?

I picked Ronny Cedeno for one reason, his speed. He may not steal basebases but he is always a threat to get a doulbe or triple. In his only full season he had 8 triples and 18 doubles with a .989 fielding percentage. Cedeno is a great fielder and an above average hitter so he only helps my loaded team

Willy Aybar has a career average of .296 and is destined to raise that up,hes also a young player only 25 years old so he will do more damage in the future and adds some more speed, which I love to have on my team.

David Dellucci is one of those good charecter guys that every team needs in there lineup,he'll get the hits, rack up solid numbers and is one of the best fielders in the league.Hes a good guy and only helps my team right now, unlike Either who helps in the FUTURE

Happy voting

Lifer, whyd u give away my pick?

April 14, 2008  07:48 PM ET

Well either Ellsbury or Crisp could be considered a bench player for the Red Sox considering they only have Drew, Crisp, Elsbury, and Ramirez in the OF.

its jacoby, not jacob

April 14, 2008  10:28 PM ET

you gotta have Gabe Kapler as one of the OF's. He plays off the bench, but is hitting .408 with 4 HR's and 11 RBI's.

April 15, 2008  07:34 AM ET

C-Jose Molina 1B-Dimitri Young
interesting point is that jacoby ellsbury is a starter now, just for the record

April 15, 2008  07:51 AM ET
