Larissa Latynina versus Bart Conner? I think thats the argument. Bart Conner was perhaps the most successful American Male Gymnast of all time. Not only is he one of the most RECONIZABLE faces fo the sport, he is also one of the people made it cool (well as cool as gymanstics can get) to be a gymnast. He is a HoFer he is the only American male to have won gold at all competitive levels. Larrissa was great but noone is going to know who she is when you put her up there, your record is not the only consideration for being put onto the monument.


Larissa Latynina was the 1st female athlete to win 9 Olympic Golds Medals. And holds the record for being awarded the most Olympic medals 18 (that's both Men and Women)(9 Gold, 5 Silver, 4 Bronze) + 14 World Championship Medals (10 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze).

Nadia Comaneci ... I bookended her for the significance of being the 1st to score a perfect 10 at the Montreal Olympics in 1976. And for winning 9 Olympic Medals (5 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze) + 4 World Championship Medals (2 Gold, 2 Silver)
