Pick-1st
Arguments-2nd and 3rd
*Use this years stats*
Zach Greinke
Dyhard:Homecoming Week said 04/18, 07:47 AM
Zach Greinke:
3-0
0.75 ERA
9 strikeouts
Felix Hernandez:
2-0
1.47 ERA
24 strikeouts
Greinke has a better record, and better ERA, but less strikeouts.
Greinke is 3-0 on a bad Kansas City Royals team. He doesn't allow many runs at all, less than 1 run a game.
Greinke is a good pitcher, and has a less ERA than Hernandez does. That will help out a team better, and that means that Greinke is the better pitcher. Plus, Hernandez plays on the Seattle Mariners. They have a good team with a good run support over there.
The Cy Young of the MLB will be Greinke. He is a good pitcher, and doesn't allow many runs a game.
Greinke:0.92 WHIP
Hernandez:1.17 WHIP
Greinke has a better WHIP. I would say that Greinke is the better pitcher overall, this year, and he will win the MLB Cy Young Award this year.

Felix Hernandez may have a higher ERA but it is still very close.
Grienke only has more wins because when he pitches, he gets a lot of run support, unlike King Felix who doesn't have that much run support when he pitches.
Kansas City won't provide all of this offense for long and soon Greinke will get more losses.
For a "Cy Young Winner", Greinke doesn't get too many strikeouts. Like you said, he has only nine and ESPN shows that he is on pace for just 91 strikeouts over the whole entire season.
King Felix has 24 and he is on pace for 229. That is a big difference, I've never seen a Cy Young winner with 91 strikeouts.
Hernandez has a shutoutand a complete game so far into the season and ESPN shows that he is on pace for 10 shutouts for the entire season.
I really have a hard time seeing Greinke winning it because even though he has had a fast start this year, he has only been an average pitcher in his career.
King Felix will win Cy Young.

Greinke has a less ERA, and that is better becuase he helps his team out more, by allowing less runs.
Greinke gets run support, but he doesn't allow many runs. Less than 1 a game. That helps his win total, and the Royals quite a bit.
Greinke will get that strikeout total up. He has the entire year to do that. He might not be able to strike out as many people as Hernandez will, but he will get more outs than him. I don't think that he will get 91 strikeouts this year. He can get a lot of strikeouts in some games, and he will get more than 91 strikeouts.
He is going to have more than 91 strikeouts. It is most likely that he wil have more than 100 of them.
You gotta give Greinke more time. Felix Hernandez might've had a complete game shutout, but that doesn't mean that he will get more, or that Greinke won't get one.
I have a good time seeing Greinke winning the Cy Young Award. He has a very good ERA, good win total, and he can get strikeouts.
Greinke is winning the Cy Young Award.

How do you know that Greinke will get more strikeouts?
He has had three games to strike out people so far and he has averaged three k's per game.
Grienke will probably get more strikeouts than 91 but he won't get more than 150.
I am guessing that Felix Hernandez will get strikeouts anywhere from 200-230.
Greinke won't keep his ERA this low for long. In the years past, he has never had an ERA as low as this.
Hernandez is a proven pitcher and has a good offense behind him to get wins. Greinke doesn't.
I predcit Greinke wil have these stats:
13-9, 3.70 ERA, 135 strikeouts
And Hernandez will have these stats:
19-6, 3.15 ERA, 220 strikeouts

come on, guys. it's April, not September. basing who's gonna win awards for a 162 game season after 15-20 games is ridiculous. these stats are obviously pretty skewed.

HMMM this year. I would go with Brian Bannister more than Greinke. Jake Westrbrook and Fausto Carmona will be up in the conversation later in theyear when it really matters.

you mean Jake Westbrook who hasn't had an ERA under 4 since 2004 (which was his only season with a sub 4 ERA)? you mean Jake Westbrook who hasan't had a WHIP under 1.3 since 2004 (also the only year with a WHIP under 1.3)? you mean Jake Westbrook who's given up less hits than innings pitched only ONCE in his career (also 2004)? he's got great control but that's it. he's got no chance at a Cy Young award. yes he's doing great right now but there's nothing to show that he can keep that up.
