Im going with the man who first "struck the heisman", Desmond Howard. He was the man, and took his skills to Sunday too (Super Bowl MVP).

This was tough. For the record, I chose between Doak Walker, Paul Hornung, and Charles Woodson. I think I'll go with my old standby, Doak Walker.

He is, in my opinion, the greatest all around player in the history of college football, and part of that was (of course) being the best return man of his era (and one of the best of any era).

He was one of the greatest pure winners to ever play football period, at any level, and he was Mr. Everything (and then some) to the best teams SMU ever had, being a 3 time All American in addition to the Heisman win.

Not to knock Desmond Howard, but he really doesn't stack up well against Doak either from a college or a pro perspective.

Also, in the spirit of the TD, he set a record for kickoff return average his sophomore season.

Doak was a great one, but he made his mark as a running back. Desmond was a WR, who made his mark as a kick and punt return guy. Not many can claim that.

I don't really understand what your argument has to do with the TD topic.

First, your topic was "Best Heisman winner who also returned punts and kicks". As such, it really doesn't matter in what area you think players "made their mark", it just matters if they returned punts or kicks. I was sporting, and chose a guy who was a dominant returner in addition to being one of the greatest players of all time.

Second, contrary to your claim, there are a ton of WRs who "made their marks" as kick and punt returners. They're drafted every year, in fact...just in the last few years: Troy Edwards, Peter Warrick, Santana Moss, Ted Ginn Jr...the list goes on forever.

DId you just mention Ted Ginn Jr. and Peter Warrick in the same TD as Doak Walker. Shame on you sir. Don't get all flustered and lose focus just because you are intimidated by my magnificant moustache. Get ahold of yourself.

I have no response.

Redline is a guy who apparently got deleted a few days ago, because I had a throwdown going against him and it disappeared. That and you both are from Mud Butte, SD, and something tells me that's not a huge city.

Mud Butte is a booming metropolis, a melting pot, a cultural mecca if you will. Mud Butte is a vacation hot spot. Fun for family and spring breakers alike. The women are plentiful and the beer is cold.

Mud Butte....where dreams come true.

A booming metropolis huh? Or a city with 150 people?

Welcome back, Redline.

I guess.
