Alright this is going to be good as I pick the Boston Red Sox!
Good Luck!
YanksFan said 04/21, 06:39 PM
Well, of couse the Yanks are doing good, but we all know about last year 14.5 games out in May and finished 2nd. So, as you know the Yanks get hot after the All-star break. If they do this like normal and all their players healthy they will be great. The Yanks also might have Joba in the starting rotation.
The Yanks will finally make it past the first round so that is why the Yanks will win the W.S. withe Girardi as their manager. Girardi and Torre manage differently and I think the Yanks will do better becuase I like Girardi's managing style and that is why they will win.
Good Luck to you

3 reasons the yankees will not win the world series
1.A lot of question marks on the rotation, the yanks are weak in this department, sure Hughes and Kennedy are developing players but they have stunk so far with 8+ eras. Mussina is also unstable and would be more fitted for a senior citizens home than a baseball diamond. So basically on the starting end Wang is their only reliable pitcher.
2. New Manager; this is another big question mark for the yanks. In 06 with the marlins Joe had the awful record of 78-84. There is no excuse for that. So you say a coach will guide a team to a championship after having a losing record in his only other season. You don't have to be Einstein to know that it doesn't make logical sense.
3.To old, look at this statistic. The yanks have only two every day players under 30. This kind of aging is not good. As you get older your reflexes soften thus affecting your game.
Red Sox > Yankees
Oh and let the best Red Sox fan win ( just kidding, good luck).

I think the Yanks will win because there staff will do a lot better and Girardi still will do fine. The age is good sometimes because the players all are veterans and can teach the younger players things and some still are prettty good. This is just pretty much a summary of what I can say because it is hard to predict a winner of the W.S. in only APRIL.
The teams are just starting so it is hard to say who is going to win.

You say that the yanks staff will do better but what indication is there that they will. Like I said Mussina is washed up and Kennedy and Hughes haven't quite proven themselves in the bigs. Sure they had success in the minors but the major leagues is a whole other ball game ( pardon the pun). Hawkins also hasn't looked like an all star releiver. Yankees pitching is a strange mix of old goats and unproven young-guns which spells disaster!
Here is a simple equation: Girardi+ unproven rookies+ washed up players x typical Steinbrenner anger = a yankee team that would be lucky to get into the playoffs!

14th out of 30 in OBP...25th out of 30 in ERA. Not such a good start.

However its entirely too early in the season for this...

Report Offensive Commentwow Buchholz pitched a no hitter. good for him. he has an ERA pushing 5 this year (and that's after a really good outing in his last start) and his WHIP is 1.500....that's horrible. right now, batters are hitting .274/.337/.405/.724 off of him. ouch.
Lester has an ERA of 5.06 right now and has a career ERA of 4.74. his WHIP is 1.688 right now and 1.585 for his career.
yes, Jon Lester and Clay Buccholz have a lot to proove--just as much as Hughes and Kennedy do.
thejetstolehome: hiatus? | 04/23/08, 09:37 AM
Report Offensive CommentSure a 4+ and 5+ era aren't great but then that's better than Hughes' and Kennedy's 8+ eras.
