Pick three players, on each side of the ball, to build a franchise around. Also pick a city you think it would be successful in. It can???t be in a city where an NFL Team already exists. List then argue.

Offense

Tom Brady
Adrian Peterson
Larry Fitzgerald

Defense

Demarcus Ware
Antonio Cromartie
Julius Peppers

City and name: San Antonio Defenders

Offense

Peyton Manning
Ladainian Tomlinson
Larry Fitzgerald

Defense

Demarcus Ware
Antonio Cromartie
Mario Williams

City and Name: Los Angeles Mostly Naked Women Laying Exposed on a Sunny Beach.

Real City and Name: San Jose Flames

Why I picked San Antonio? Becasue for starters it is the 7th largest city in the U.S. Secondly, it is a sports hungry location. With the success of the Spurs, they feel the need for more rooting interest. The training camp for the Dallas Cowboys occurs in San Antonio every other year it seems like and it is heavily attended. Heck, it was talked about being the landing spot for the New Orleans Saints.

On to the players. Lets just squash the QB debate. P. Manning and Brady, it really is a toss up. Why I picked AD is because of his success and HIS AGE. He just turned 23, where as LT will be 29 years old at the beginning of the NFL season. So I took that into account if I was starting a franchise. I took Peppers and you took Super Mario. Mario is younger, but the art of pass rushing, in my opinion starts and begins with Peppers in the NFL. He does it consistently and is also known to block field goals on special teams (6) since 2002.

I like your style. I also don't argue a team in San Antonio, except that it draws attention from the Spurs. Not too relevant here. But LA is the second largest US city and supported the Rams for almost 50 years. Football would succeed in LA.

I agree the AB debate here is a tossup. Manning and Brady are like Magic and Bird. Glad we're letting this one lay.

I took LT over AP for a few reasons. First, AP is injury prone. He struggled with injuries in college and his rookie year in the pros. Second, with LT you know what you are getting. AP is only a sophomore, with only one year of production. Other players have had remarkable starts to their careers and faded (Terrel Davis, for example). LT his produced at the highest possible level and has never missed a game. LT is the best back in football and has at least five years of high production left in him. We have no idea what AP will be doing in five years.

The art of pass rushing starts with Peppers? He of 2.5 sacks last year? He worries me, and Williams looks to be every bit the pass rusher Peppers is without the questionable did in production. Williams did have 11.5 more sacks than Peppers in 2007...

Peppers was out most of last year with injuries. That is why is production was sooooo low. How do we know that last year for Mario wasn't just lighting in the bottle? If we are in the schoolyard and they are both standing against the wall and I am picking teams, give me Peppers anyday

With AD, and your injury concerns...somewhat true. But even with an injured season, he produced higher than most backs who completed all 16 games unscathed. LT may have 5 good years left in him but AD has 10.

...and about L.A. L.A. is a transplant city....it is such a melting pot of people from different cities around the nation that alegences are already taken. And if there is a more fairweather city for sports..please, let me know. They only care about sports in LA if those sports are winning. USC football is king, and Sundays are set aside for what Cali living is known for....beaches, shopping, botoxing, police car chasing etc..

Peppers played 14 games last year, two more than his rookie year when he had 12 sacks. You can't blame it on injuries, he just looked complacent and weak last year. Maybe it was just a blip on the radar, but Williams was a beast in the second half last year. He sure didn't look like lightning in a bottle.

With AD's running style and previous injuries, I don't believe he has ten years left. He is a straight up runner who plows guys over. And yes, he did produce more than most backs, but you know one who produced more? LT. AD also completely disappeared in a couple of games and doesn't seem to very consistent. One week he runs for 296 yard, another he runs for 6. Give me LT, who is also a far better receiver and can throw better than some QBs.

If what you say about LA is true and they only care about winning teams I have no problem. You're saying a team with Brady, Tomlinson, Fitz, Ware, Cromartie, and Williams wouldn't be a good team? This would be a highly successful team, so no worries. I notice the Angels sell out on Sundays, as to the Dodgers. Tourism is huge in New Orleans, yet they will the Dome. I'm not worried about attendance in a city as large as LA.

Damn! I put the wrong city!! I wanted LA!

Who needs offensive linemen, anyway?

April 24, 2008  12:27 PM ET

LA FLAMES?

April 24, 2008  12:28 PM ET

I clicked one second too late to exploit that...

April 24, 2008  12:30 PM ET

Tom and Peyton are both a bit older and why no Joe Thomas... i mean its not like he has only been in the league 1 year and was a beast or anything.

April 24, 2008  12:32 PM ET

No, I originally had the San Jose Flame, then wanted to change it to LA, then decided Flames would be in bad taste.

April 24, 2008  12:34 PM ET

When will people learn. Larry Johnson was averaging 5.2 ypc and getting 20 TD's then Shields and Waters left KC and he gets splattered like a bug on a windshield by defenders only getting 3.5 ypc and 3 TD's.

April 24, 2008  12:35 PM ET

I would have taken out a RB and put in a offensive line, got to have at least one solid lineman.

April 24, 2008  12:35 PM ET

In any other city my team name choices would be Flames or Gunners, but naturally both would be a bad idea in LA. It has to be something unassuming and kinda passive: LA Sun. Not Suns, Sun.

lovingt the first name choice on the right

It's also the one we have to go with, but I actually don't like it.

April 24, 2008  12:53 PM ET

People in L.A. don't even want a team there.

April 24, 2008  12:56 PM ET

Says who? That's like saying Seattle doesn't want a basketball team.

April 24, 2008  01:19 PM ET

Seattle hates basketball. That is a pretty well known fact.

April 24, 2008  01:22 PM ET

No it isn't. Where are you from? Seattle loves basketball. Have you just been reading select news reports? What Bennet has done is heartwrenching to most Northwest natives. I refuse to get in this debate again. Just know you are wrong.

What....no Curtis Benson to build your team around?

Pssh.
