Darren McFadden is destined to be: a good player, terrible player, great player, average,HOF. Your pick

Darren McFadden has a lot of talent there is no doubt about that.So how will he do?I predict that he will be a GOOD player, and his production may compare with maybe a Thomas Jones,a solid guy to have.Yes he is explosive (a 4.33 40 right?)and he has some strength. He is very athletic and can jump.He jumps better than Adrian Peterson. But that's where that ends.AP will be great while McFadden will be good.
Here's why he won't be better than good;He has a hard time of sustaining contact. This is a rough and tumble league, you have to be able to take a hit.He had a hard time moving after initial contact. He aslo has a fumbling problem(23 fumbles over 3 college years)this could defenitely keep him from attaining great things. His confidence could take a shot.
Here's why he won't be worse than good;He has tremendous athletic ability, one of the most athletic RB's to come out in a while. He can throw, catch and run,and has that remarkable speed, and jumping ability. He is very explosive in the open field,he will not let minor faults hold him down to much

I will say he will be a great player in the NFL. By great, I am guessing you mean a Pro Bowler.
McFadden will be great. Like you said, he's got all the tools he needs. Speed, elusiveness, jumping ability, whatever. He's got it all.
He's faster than Peterson. Jumps higher. Not as strong, but pretty close.
Anyway, McFadden has one things that can definitely be improved in his early NFL years: fumbling problem.
Fumbling is not a difficult problem to correct. To show you, I will use Tiki Barber as an example.
In a certain 4 season span, Barber had 35 of his 53 career fumbles. That occured pretty early in his NFL career. He fixed that pretty quickly, as in his final 3 seasons had only 9 fumbles.
Tiki was pretty good, dont you think?
I don't see why McFadden can't do the same thing.

If he is ever a pro bowler,he may be once at most.I don't think he ever will be.My guess is that he will be just a solid guy to have.A thing about some of these college guys with the athleticism McFadden has, they tend to try and rely on their speed to much.Yes he's fast, but he gets hit,he goes down.In the NFL you have to grind it out and take many hits, something he did not suceed in college at.
McFadden's fumbling problem won't just dissapear,23 fumbles in three years???He actually led college football in fumbles over that three year span.
But can he cut down his fumbles by 6 or more a season?I don't think so,the fast ruuning backs mentality seems to be run away from everyone, and don't worry about tucking that ball away.
I just don't see him becoming great because of his inability to shrug off defenders, one thing Felix Jones did for him last year was keep the defense guessing with them sharing time.I just don't see him becoming a star,it's plausible, just not gonna happen.

I disagree with you on this point:
"My guess is that he will be just a solid guy to have." I don't know how you can say that. McFadden reminds me of a LaDainian Tomlinson. Although they are not exactly built in the same mold (Tomlinson is shorter), they both have similar attributes.
I think of Tomlinson as a fast, speedy back who can also break tackles. McFadden is like that. Imagine if McFadden went to the Raiders. The AFC West would have a TON to worry about.
Tomlinson corrected his fumbling problems. Since his rookie season, he has never fumbled more than 6 times in a season. Last season, he did not fumble even once.
It only goes to show, fubling improves as a player becomes more mature. And we're talking careers here, not one season.
McFadden can't shrug off defenders? Seriously? I completely disagree. To show you, watch this You Tube video. Pause at 37 seconds and see the stiff arm.
McFadden is one of the most versatile weapons in college football. He will translate his success into the NFL. He will become a star because he has all the tools and all the talent.

the only thing he doesn't have is a team...and like it or not it will determine how well he will perform...there are many places this guy could end up going and depending on wich team picks him up will determine how well he will perform.IMO
good arguments by both...for now i cant label anyone in teh draft being GREAT...

IF McFadden goes to the Raiders, the Raiders STILL won't be respectable. At least for another 2 years.

I think he will turn out to be a lot like Tiki Barber. He is an athletic phenom which is more than Barber was but much like Barber he is fumble prone at this stage of his career. He will find a way to fix it and many will eventually forget about it.
