The two are similar in talent, but I think Ryan is a little over hyped. If I had a nickel for everytime Kiper reminded us Brohm would have been the #1 QB in the 2007 draft, I'd take a bath in money. Brohm, possibly by midseason, could step right into an offense with all the right pieces in place. Atlanta, to put it nicely, is a mess. It may take 4-5 years to get enough talent around Ryan to be effective.

Well the reason I'm going to say no is because Matt Ryan is already going to walk into this season as the starter, while Brian Brohm is going to have to fight for the starting job which is already in the hands of rodgers. Now they won't give up on rodgers right away, he'll at least get 2 maybe 3 years. He will really have to screw up big to lose this job, because Brohm won't have the opportunity to win it.
Matt Ryan has the upside and skill to come in and be a good QB. Now he may have a learning curve coming into a losing situation, but he has the tools to get it done. He threw for over 4,500 yards last year and completed 59.3% of his passes while leading BC to a 11-3 season with a bowl win. Brohm has good numbers but failed to lead his team to the season they were projected to have, they only went 6-6.
Matt ryan will have every chance to succeed with the falcons and that will give him the edge over Brohm. while five years is along time to predict, now we have to take Ryan over brohm due to his slightly superior skills and the QB position hes in.
Booty Face Jackson said 04/26, 09:30 PM
Brohm's team was under a new coach with a new system. Besides watching Favre for 3 years, like we all did on tv, Rodgers has played in approximately 3 more regular season games than Brohm. I assure you come training camp time, Brohm will have a fair shot at the job. McCarthy didnt draft Rodgers and thus is not married to him as a draft pick. Nobody besides Rodgers would hold it against McCarthy if he chose Brohm.
Brohm's situation is alot like Rothlesbergers was in Pittsburgh, while Ryan steps into a situation much like Joey Harrington did in Detroit.
Uofmrules* BS said 04/26, 09:41 PM
mm well it's not like Rothlesberger because in this case both QBs are young and in Pitt at the time Maddux wasn't young and he didn't even have the job locked down.
Now Matt Ryan has weapons to help him in atlanta, in Roddy White and Michael Turner. With the good running game they have all the preasure wont be on him to pass his way to wins right away, but when hes called on to pass he can do it...No Brohm will get a chance to compete for the job no question, but that doesn't mean rodgers doesn't already have the job which he does. The only way he will lose it is if the packers start to lose due to his play or he plays like rex grosman, which i fail to see from him..Last year rodgers was 20-28 for 218 yards 71.4 %, 1 TD o INT and a 106 passer raiting. for his career he has a 59.3 % completion percentage and a 73.3 Passer rating. Respectable numbers. He has not shown any reason to be replaced and he won't be. Thats why Matt rayn will do better the first five years.
Booty Face Jackson said 04/26, 09:45 PM
I say at best you get a Bradty Quinn type discussion with Rodger/Brohm. The Packers won't be nearly as good as last year, and will try to give Brohm plenty of chances to prove himself throughout the year. If Rodgers and Brohm both look good, the Pack may try to trade Rodgers in the offseason.
As far as those weapons in ATL go, Turner has never carried the full load in the NFL and when has Roddy White done anything? Its gonna be a while for Atlanta.
Uofmrules* BS said 04/26, 09:55 PM
Yes Roddy White has. He caught for over 1,200 yards last year, had 83 catches and 6 TDs. he averaged 75.1 yards a game and did all this with a rotation of passers. Imagine him with a QB that can get him the ball even more. So Matt does have weapons that will help him succeed. As for Turner no he hasn't carried the full load but he hasn't shown any reason he can't as when LT was out before he did quite well carrying the full load, and they also said this was one of the best FA signings this year.
Yes its possible that rodgers/brohm coudl do the quin/anderson from last year....but you know what happened? Anderson had an amazing season and they re signed him to keep him as there starter even with brady. Brohm will not overtake Rodgers unless he gets hurt, but even then Rodgers would still comeback and start after. Matt just has alot more chances to succeed then Brohm does.

Its about having the better start to his career, and with the team he's on now, Brohm is far better setup to excel than Ryan is.

STOP SPECULATING
Guys if history has taught us anything its that what guys did in college MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when it comes to the pros. College and the NFL are two totally different ballgames, and a lot of great college players flop in the NFL and a lot of average college players turn out to be great NFL players
What it comes down to in my book is effort really. You always see the guys who are out there working harder succeeding in the NFL. Talent alone can't bring you success in the NFL, but it sometimes can in college.
Speculating on who will be better before either one has taken a pro snap is RIDICULOUS
