Simple as that.
If you don't think they will, then take the challenge and tell me why. I'll be waiting.

Is there a reason besides you being a Cowboys fan? Probably not. The Cowboys won't win the NFC East for a few reasons. The fact that T.O. is still there and the receivers are both well into their 30s, which doesn't bode well especially for Terry Glenn who uses his speed to get open. The fact that Romo got rocked by the Lions at the end of the season doesn't show promise for his future as a Cowboy. If he plays like that or the way he did for his last four or so starts, expect the Cowboys season to be flushed down the toilet. Another thing to look at is the Cowboys secondary. Roy Williams couldn???t cover to save his life and the addition of Ken Hamlin doesn???t help seeing as he isn???t that much better at covering the pass because he is the same type of safety as Roy Williams: run stop first. The offensive line is also a weak spot. The release of Marco Rivera, injured or not, was a blow to the offense. The over paying of Leonard Davis was a bad move; he is not all that great for having been the second overall pick four years ago. Marc Colombo at the RT spot doesn???t help either. He was a bust in Chicago and played decently with the Boys, but is easily beaten by faster ends like Umenyiora

First of all. This is about this year. So I don't care that TO and Glenn are in their 30's, because when it all boils down to it, they should still have the same talent they had last year, which was enough to make them a dominant duo, especially once Bledsoe got pushed out.
Then you move on to talk about one game of Romo's career. A game that if they had won, they'd play the Seahawks in round 1 of the playoffs, if they had lost they'd play Seattle in round 1 of the playoffs.
Let me tell you something about Romo. He's showed better promise than Jason Campbell and Eli Manning, and has way more talent than both of them.
RoyWill will not be getting burned as much this season, because Zimmer is out. He had Roy as the last man back way too often last season and teams took advantage of that. Phillips has new schemes that will put Roy in position to make plays, not as the last man back.
Oh and the way you attacked the o-line was stupid. Rivera leaving doesn't hurt the Boys at all, he got burned more than anyone last year on the line. The line is better than it was last year. With Romo starting a full year, I can't see this weak NFC East competing with them to win the division.
Big Ben68 said 06/17, 11:16 PM
Is that it? First of all, age always catches up to speed guys and that does have to do with this year because both are 33 an age when receivers start to go down especially when they've been playing for 11+ years. I pointed out one game as a highlight to my argument. When you get beat by Detroit's defense you are not all that great. He turned the ball over way too much in that game and the last four games of the season. If that continues into this year expect Romo to no longer start and the Cowboys to be looking for a new QB. Yeah, he did show a lot of promise, but Campbell showed just as much. Remember Romo had been in the league FOUR years prior to starting and had learned Parcells system in and out whereas Campbell has had to learn a new offense since his sophomore year in college and was still able to put up decent numbers in his first in as a starter as well in yet another new system. And Roy Williams has been getting burned every year of his career and got burned even more last season. But when playing back he shouldn???t have gotten burned because he would have been there for the ball and the receiver. Even if he plays more run support, Hamlin won???t be able to play the pass.
Rocketman said 06/17, 11:26 PM
I don't think it will be Williams and Hamlin as the two safties if that's what you're getting at.
Anyhow, the Cowboys had two main problems last year; giving up big plays and lack of pass rush. Offense was not one of their problems and it should not be next year either. Compared to the rest of the division, which offense would you rather have? Gotta say the Boys with a good 1-2 punch at RB, two premier receivers that help each other out, and a great receiving tight end. They also have a POTENTIALLY good QB.
Romo's future may still be somewhat up in the air, but he has shown so much more than any other Cowboys quarterback in the last 10 years. If people were so eager to jump on the Cowboys bandwagon last year with Deadsloe as starter, why not this year with a true hard worker who just loves the game?
To address their two problems this offseason, the Boys drafted Anthony Spencer, to help out the pass rush, and got rid of Zimmer to fix everything to do with the D.
I'm not gonna win this throwdown, because no matter what, people hate the Cowboys, but for those who have either the Eagles, Giants, or Skins as the favorite in this division. Please... think again.
Big Ben68 said 06/17, 11:37 PM
It will be. Pass rush shouldn???t be a problem for them this year, I???ll give you that. But big plays will be; that defense will still allow those big plays until they bring in somebody who can cover. Also, the Redskins have younger receivers (who are faster), an amazing running game every season, and a great receiving TE in Chris Cooley. As an offense we allowed only 19 sacks, one of the lowest in the league. Both teams have potentially great QBs, but Romo has more to prove especially since he has been in the league much longer. So I would still take my WAS offense compared to the DAL offense. Romo may be a one hit wonder, but for the Cowboys sake, he better not be. I still don???t think they???ve fixed everything with the defense even with the drafting of Spencer and the removal of Zimmer or the addition of Phillips, who, as a coach, has not been all that spectacular. I need to see them stop big plays and Romo needs to play like something other than his women matter. But my choice for a winner of the NFC East would probably be the Eagles, but if McNabb goes down again expect the division race to be between the best rivalry in the NFL???the Cowboys and the Redskins.

Report Offensive CommentIf not the Cowboys, who?
Eagles: If McNabb gets hurt, they dont have Garcia to step in. Lost Stallworth.
Skins: Have all the pieces just havent got it together yet. Campbell is still a ?.
Giants: Lost Tiki, have slackers in Shockey and Burress, and still have the always inconsistent Eli.

Report Offensive CommentNo, Mac...I don't need to debate that...yet, I need to debate how the Cowboys WON'T win the East not who will win the East. Also, I know the Giants won't win it and I think my Redskins may take third, possibly second; though I have hopes we win the division, I don't know if we will. The Cowboys may take second or third and the Eagles will probably win the division if McNabb gets healthy and the receivers can do their jobs well. If the defense gets healthy and stays consistent as well as healthy the Eagles will win the division...unless of course McNabb goes down again.
Big Ben68 | 06/17/07, 10:49 PM
Report Offensive CommentI have the same problem, Ben.
However, I find it's interesting that a Redskins fan would bring up WRs as being a negative somewhere, and calling out Roy Williams when you have a rookie likely to start at FS (who just got shot in the nuts with a paintball). It doesn't exactly support your anti-Cowboys stance.
But...it's about the Cowboys, not the Redskins, so I'm waiting for the remainder of your 45,000 word argument. It's always enjoyable.

Report Offensive CommentNo...I would just have more room to prove my point. If I can prove my point with 1,200 characters, think what I could do with 2,400 characters an argument?
But that's not the point. But what is, is that I don't understand you criticizing my use of the receivers as something bad. There age is dangerous to the profession especially for Terry Glenn because he is/was known for his speed to get open and as a speed receiver you need that to beat guys in the secondary.
Big Ben68 | 06/17/07, 10:58 PM
Report Offensive Commentpoint to big ben.... and how exactly do you walk up to your coach and tell him "Well Joe, I know you are in the hall of fame an all- but that aside I gotta miss our mini camp cuz I got shot in the nuts with a paintball"? lol

Report Offensive CommentGlenn caught 70 passes last season. I'm not saying the guy's the Ageless Wonder or anything, but his age being a reason for the team losing the division?
And in that same argument where you proved your point in 1,200 characters, you doomed Tony Romo's career due to a bad performance against Detroit. That's a bit quick to pull the hook, huh? Aren't you a staunch supporter of Jason Campbell's future after a 52 percent completion percentage over seven games?

Report Offensive CommentUh huh, Steelercooz...hold on. I jump around in my arguments...I need to get back to that, but if you lose to Detroit's terrible defense (turning the ball over 3 or so times) you are not all that great. Now, as someone who likes to see people succeed whether I dislike them or not, I hope he is a great athlete this year, but after his last four or so games he turned into a less than stellar QB. The one that beat up on the Bucs (not like that was hard last year) or the Giants (again...not all that hard). But losing to the Lions and pretty much being at fault for it as well as your safeties not being able to cover a damn thing...you are not going to succeed.

Big Ben68 | 06/17/07, 11:19 PM
Report Offensive CommentI'll say that I wasn't one of those who saw Tony Romo as a revolutionary within the context of what makes the ultimate quarterback...however, I agree with Steelercooz in that pointing out one game to determine someone's future isn't necessarily the best mode of judgement.
Maybe Romo won't turn out to be much more than another unremarkable quarterback, but I don't see how one game can be what provides the final answer to that query.
I think the point about the safeties not covering a damn thing was the main problem that cost Dallas that one game against the Lions. Had the Cowboy defense actually shown up that day, it would have overcome the turnovers Romo was guilty of committing.
adams300 | 06/17/07, 11:20 PM
Report Offensive CommentSo you are, in fact, writing off Romo's pretty good season overall because he lost a game to Detroit? Didn't look all that bad in his passing (not FG holding) in his playoff game.
For the record, I didn't say anything at all about whether you like the guy or not. I am not bringing bias into this. And I can't even imagine the level of pain Landry must have been in/is currently in.
Ombudsman Cooz | 06/17/07, 11:21 PM
Report Offensive CommentTrue...but I also mentioned how he underperformed in his last four or so starts which included the game against the Lions, which was at home. He was sacked multiple times, pressured as well as hurried, fumbled, and intercepted. He looked flustered during that game.
