Phoenix was the 2nd best team without argument last year. They were narrowly defeated by SA in a 2nd round series that many agreed was the real NBA championship of '07.

Only a controversial suspension of Stoud kept Phoenix from a title.

So what do they do? They hire Kerr, with his zero GM experience to shake things up.
He needs only make a couple small adjustments.
1. Nash needs a reliable back-up (a-la Udrih)
2. They need a cheap vet big man that can play D (a-la Ratliff)
3. And one reliable swing player off the bench that can defend (a-la Ross)

What does Kerr do? He blows all that money on Grant "over the" Hill. Early on, Hill makes an effort, but slows down the Suns blistering attack considerably. Like a monkey wrench.
Then Kerr gets another brilliant brainstorm. He trades away integral piece Matrix Marion to add a completely shot load of boat.

Remember that Phoenix had the #1 seed in the West at time of trade.
I'm not saying that Shaq didn't give an effort. He did. Diving into crowds for loose balls. But he is not the explosive player he once was and is a serious liability on pick and roll defense.
Kerr did terrible job of wasting a year for this club. He's gotta go.

Only because YOU thought trading for Shaq was a GOOD idea. And YOU thought the Suns would run right through the Spurs in the first round.

If it had gone as YOU predicted, you'd be calling for Kerr to be named executive of the year.

Oh, and NOBODY "agrees" that the Suns-Spurs SECOND ROUND series a year ago was "the real NBA Championship". That's beyond absurd.

Always plenty of blame to go around with you, Ruby. Unfortunately, you never accept responsibility for ANY of it.

The Suns made plenty of mistakes this year. I openly questioned the Shaq deal myself, BUT they KNEW they weren't a contender as is. Can't give Kerr TOO much grief for getting a guy of that pedigree. A player who DOES know a thing or three about acquiring rings.

You are advocating firing a guy you know absolutely NOTHING about, who hasn't had even a year to prove himself, working in a system where you know NOTHING about how much power he had in the first place.

All based on players you approved of, initially. Blame Game Ruby.

You're close to a title run with the 3 headed monster of Nash, Stoud and Matrix. Matrix is a key element in this because of his versatility around the basket and ability to defend any position. He's also a shooter and runs the floor and has perfect timing with Nash That has built up over the last 3 years.

Shaq is a half court player that won't fit into Mike D'Antoni's spread the floor, run and gun offense at all! he's gonna just get in Stoudemire and Nash's way. They like to operate in the open floor.

This is a horrible fit for both player and team.

Wouldn't beating San Antonio, the defending champs, completely VALIDATE his moves? Seems to me you don't have a clue from one day to the next where the NBA is concerned. You make predictions, then blame someone ELSE when they don't come true. And you change your tune every time the wind blows.

Little in your second argument and NOTHING in your third give any legitimate reason to back up your assertion that Kerr should be fired.

So I'll simply ask again...

How is it that if you were so certain back in February that the Shaq move was horrible and Kerr was an idiot, you STILL came to the conclusion the Suns would beat the defending champs in the 1st round? Hmmmm....

If the Suns had pulled off the upset you predicted, you wouldn't be here calling for Kerr's head on a platter. You'd be saying "I told you so and my predictions are always right". Instead they were embarrassed by the Spurs, in turn embarrassing you for making such a silly prediction in the first place. THAT is what all this "fire Kerr" stuff is about. It's a Ruby attempt to save face.
