LIST FIRST THEN ARGUE 2 AND 3

My pick is Alfonso Soriano for the Cubs. Signed a 8 year $136 million contract.

I'm guessing you mean the off season before the 2007 season. By the way, thanks for declining the other TD. It was a tourney one. Anyways, my pick is...

Barry Zito! Giants gave him a $126 million, 7 year contract.

I said Soriano because he signed a bigger and longer deal. Sure Zito is playing horribly, but Soriano hasn't played at all or when he has he has played horribly. He strikes out 3 out of every 4 times he goes to the plate, he won't steal bases for fear of hurting something and when he does make contact on a pitch, it is alway a pop fly or an easy ground ball. At least Zito can be a good reliever if not a starter. The Cubs have only gotten about 35 good games out of their big deal, Zito played ok last year.

This isn't even close...unless if golden can come up with an epic argument.

Alfonso Soriano was supposedly going to hit 40 or more home runs though. Zito just came in to solidify the rotation. Vote left.

One simple point: Soriano is still playing. Zito is sitting the pine.

Zito wasn't brought in just for that. He was gonna be the ace to help try and guide this team the next 7 or so years. He's been a complete disaster. Soriano on the other hand, has not been. Add the fact the Cubs made the playoffs last year. The Giants are a bad team to begin with. Soriano has not hurt the team in anyway really. Zito on the other hand, has put the Giant franchise in a huge headlock that is the last thing they need.

Zito. Just because he hasnt been good at all. Soriano has been decent when not injured.

Do I need to say why???

I mean, really..........

April 30, 2008  05:26 PM ET

This isn't close to begin with but when GoldenEagles flat makes things up (He strikes out 3 out of every 4 times he goes to the plate, he won't steal bases for fear of hurting something and when he does make contact on a pitch, it is alway a pop fly or an easy ground ball.) it would be impossible to vote for him even if he had the better choice.

FACTS:

Soriano strikes out less than 25% of the time.
He stole 19 bases last year despite playing injured much of the season, and 41 the year before.
Soriano hit .299 with a .560slg % last year. So much for always a pop up or easy ground ball...

"Alfonso Soriano was supposedly going to hit 40 or more home runs though. "

Um, he hit 33 despite missing 27 games to injury. You call that a disappointment?

And he wasn't expected to hit 40 or more. Geez, he's only reached that level ONE time in his career. Anyone with such high expectations was delusional to begin with.
