I hate to go with the obvious choice but he did pick the topic, so...

Matt Ryan will be the starter in Atlanta from day 1. They have a fan base that is in dire need of a new regime to begin.

They drafted him with the third pick. They gave all the QB's on the roster the chance to show what they had last year. If they were happy with any of them they would have used the pick to improve their defense or O-line.

They also traded up in the first round to get a tackle. I believe that was a move to make sure they had all the pieces in place to help him from day 1.

Matt Ryan will start from day one, how good will he be I don't know, but the Falcons will put the team on his back and see what happens.

Yea, I did do the topic lol.

I believe the first rookie starter will be Joe Flacco.

He's entering a situation where his team desperately needs a QB, their franchise QB retired, they have a Heisman washup (Troy Smith) and a QB with a strong arm who hasn't panned out (Kyle Boller).

The Ravens' will immediately put Flacco in so he can learn their system and become their franchise QB. They can use him to bolster their offense, and maybe even near the .500 mark for their win total. They still have a pretty good D and they won't wait to get working on making their offense an elite one.

Joe Flacco was drafted by the Ravens in the first round, and he will be the first rookie QB to start.

I don't think Joe Flacco is a slam dunk to start. He definitely has less chance than Matt Ryan.

I remember every mock draft on this site that had a QB going to Baltimore. The reason i remember them is all of the Ravens fans bashed the person who said they needed a QB. They thought Troy Smith or Kyle Boller would give them a chance to win. I am not a Raven fan but if they thought these guys could play, then I bet they will at least give Flacco a run for his money.

Flacco is from Delaware a division 1-AA school, just a thought but he has faced maybe 5 guys that will ever even see an NFL field. So why would the Ravens throw him out their right away. They have a new coach, which means he has time to build his team around Flacco. They don't want to ruin him ala David Carr.

I am very familiar with Tony Romo (being a die hard and all). He is from a small school and he said that the biggest reason he made it in the NFL is getting to sit back and watch this NFL talent and learn from his coaches first. He said he would have never made it if thrown to the wolves right away.

Matt Ryan is the starter, Joe Flacco has a steep climb to be the starter for Baltimore.

As DC stated in the comments, Ryan has more competition for the starting job.

Here are Flacco's "opponents":

1. Kyle Boller - He can't be a starter in the NFL. He's already proven that to the Ravens and to Ravens' fans. He has already had many opportunities, and it would be a waste of time if the Ravens gave him another shot. He would be wasting the first couple games of the season.

2. Troy Smith - Like DC said, Smith won't be able to handle Cam Cameron's offense. He's a washup who will be a good backup at best in the NFL.

----------------------------

Ryan has to beat out Chris Redman for the starting job. And, just like DC said, Redman is a Bobby Petrino guy.

Flacco's path to the starting job is way clearer than Ryan's.

Thanks to DC for making my argument for me lol.

First things first dudeman, you made a little mistake. You said Redman is a Petrino guy, like that is a good thing......Why did Redman find a loophole and is gonna go play for Petrino at Arkansas? The Falcons head coach is Mike Smith. Petrino is long gone and hated in the ATL

The Falcons had too many other things they could have done with that 3rd pick if they thought they had their QB. They would not be paying a QB 3rd pick money if they didn't think he was the future. They have to start him. The Falcons had trade partners for that third pick. They could have added picks to a team that could use all kinds of pieces on defense and the O-Line. They didn't. The reason they didn't is because Matt Ryan was the guy they wanted from day 1 of this offseason. He will run the show.

So Joe Flacco from Delaware, who again I repeat has not played on the same field with even 5 NFL talents in his life, is going to be able to run Cam Cameron's offense with ease. The Ravens will give every guy on their roster a shot. If Cam loved Flacco so much, then why was he trying so hard to get Ryan on draft day. The Ravens just wanted a QB and Flacco was No. 2 on their board.

Ryan will win that job.

John David Booty. Tavaris Jackson is down right horrible, and Booty coming from a Pro offense in USC has the most experience coming out of college. He will be great for them, and will probably lead them to a playoff berth

im voting left.

It has to be Joe Flacco. Cam Cameron is practically in love with Joe Flacco and whos his competition? Troy Smith, Kyl eBoller? Boller has already proven he cant be a starter in this league and do you guys honestly think Troy Smith will be running Cam CAmeron's offense?? Not a chance. Matt Ryan however has already been told he'll have to win the job from Chris Redman, who ironically used to play in Baltimore and is a Bobby Petrino guy. Youd think he woulda been cut, right? Anyway, Chris Redman is the starter as of now in Atlanta.

Flacco will start before Ryan. THe biggest reason: Cam Cameron, who graduated from my high school. GOTTA REP IT, sorry.

haha, controversy: Are you being serious? Tarvaris is horrible? First of all, he hasnt even played a full 16 games in the league, so you cant say if hes gonna be an NFL starter or not. Second of all, he hasnt been THAT bad, hes proven to be a playmaker and as long as you're a playmaker, you'll be on the field.

Ryan, in my opinion is a lock to start sooner. The only person he has to beat out is Chris Redman! What a joke.

Vote to the left. Better arguments.

Great debate from you both. In the end, missing that last argument really hurt dudeman... you both were running neck & neck in my voting until you conceded all the last points made by nick. Silence is acceptance...
