The Carolina Panthers.

They added guys on both sides of the ball that will help improve this team immediately.

First you have Jonathan Stewart who is the perfect compliment to D'eAngelo Williams. They have had trouble establishing John Fox's power running game with DeShaun Foster. They now have a very scary duo in the backfield that can beat you in both ways.

The other pressing need on offense was OT, which they answered with Jeff Otah. A hard nosed tackle that is perfect for this team. He will step in immediatley and start.

They also added a pass catching TE and some more depth for the O-line later in the draft.

Lets move to defense. They got 2 guys that had no business being available in the 3rd round.

First CB Charles Godfrey, who will be able to help them in anyway needed. He can play both safety spots and cornerback. He is also an excellent special team player.

Then LB Dan Conner, who can play any linebacker spot they need him to. He is a great linebacker who should have been long gone before Sunday. He is undersized in the weight department(That is why he fell), but is tall enough to add weight and really become a force in this league.

I am going to take a team from the NFC South... I am taking the New Orleans Saints as the most improved team through the draft.

They too added players that can make an immediate impact in their biggest areas of need. Last year the Saints had a very good offense they suffered from a bad defense.

With their first pick they got a great Defensive Tackle Sedrick Ellis who can come in immediately, play, and make an impact. With their second pick they addressed their second biggest need, Cornerback. Tracy Porter is a great player maker and has very good ball-hawking skils. We be a great fit for the Saint defense.

They also addressed offensive line depth and defensive line depth by adding two very solid player Carl Nicks and DeMario Pressley both who should not have been their when they were picked.

They also gave Drew Brees another weapon by adding another possible 7th round receiver gem by taking Adrian Arrington. He should have been taken early also, he was never a great wide receiver but definitely can be a solid 3rd receiver or possible number 2.

They improved the most through the NFL Draft.

I agree they did a good job of improving their defense. Ellis is for real but Porter is an undersized corner that will get pushed around by the ever growing receivers of this league.

As for Pressley he is a career underachiever who can't stay healthy. He was drafted where he belonged. They had already taken a future star DT in Ellis and still chose to take another DT with their 3rd pick. The Saints are not good enough to do that.

Nicks is a project at best and will not be able to help them this year. They then took a kicker, who is said to be inconsistent at best in the 6th round. You can find those kind of guys at home right now.

I am not gonna say Arrington can't play but the likely hood of another 7th round reciever turning into a star again is small.

The Saints only added 1 for sure impact player this year and possibly, but not for sure, a second one in Porter. The Panthers added 4 guys that can contribute right away. I feel the biggest difference is that the Saints had to wait till the 5th round to add a 3rd player and then chose a guy who plays the same position as their first pick. They had other needs.

The Saints improved but not as much as the Panthers.

Tracy Porter is a solid cornerback and will fit great in the Saints system. Sure he is shorter and will have some problems covering taller receivers. What he lacks in height he makes up in ball hawking skills, play making skills, and pure speed.

Pressley may not be a great but he is there to provide depth and play sparingly, this he can do.

Nicks is a project, but a very good, he may not be a starter at the start of training camps but could start on the Saints bad line by the end of the year.
Taking a kicker wasn't the smartest pick but not having to deal with Gramatica anymore.

Arrington may not be another Colston but he can come in and compete for a starting job, he is a solid receiver.

The Panthers had a good draft but RB with the first pick was a reach. The draft was loaded with RB they could have had a very good back later.

Otah is a solid Oline man and will be a good fit for their team and Dan Connor was also a good pick but he is a might not be an every down because of his poor pass coverage.

I'm out of room...

Even if Porter is good, that still leaves them with 2 impact players to the Panthers 4.

The depth with Pressley is nice but the Saints could have addressed the offense a ltiile earlier at that point or maybe safety. Really anything to me would have been better than another DT.

From what I read about Nicks it will take more than a camp to make him an NFL lineman.

Arrington fell to the 7th round for a reason, he went to a major college ( so it is not like he was unknown like Colston). I can only think of one 7th rounder who has started as a rookie and like I said for the saints to pull that off twice would be like winning the lottery.

RB was a reach, really. The draft was loaded with backs, true. I have the only example I need as to why you don't pass a guy up if you think he is what you need. The Boys wanted Stephen Jackson but decided Julius Jones would be OK, a round later. Do you think they regret that move?? Stewart is the perfect back in their mind and they went out and got him.

Otah will start from day 1. Stewart will contribute from day1 and having Williams allows him to be eased in. Conner is a natural and will make plays. Godfrey can play any DB spot needed

The Panthers had a very good draft but the Saints did to and they had less picks. The thing about the Saints draft is that they fixed most of their needs because their was very few. Their offense was very good and should be better by getting McAllister back from injury. Their major weakness that kept them from winning more games was their horrible defense. They addressed those needs through the draft.

Taking Pressley shows that their offense is good enough to compete for a playoff spot, they should have went after a DB but the draft was very shallow for that position. Pressley is a very good run stopper and may not start from day 1 but will be a major part of the Saints defensive line rotation. Just because a player doesn't start doesn't mean that he can't be a impact player.

Arrington went to a big school but was over shadowed by Mario Manningham, yet Arrington should become a very solid receiver. Again, even if he is the third receiver he can still be a impact player. The was Brees spreads the ball around Arrington will get his share of looks.

Good TD, looks like I'm fighting an uphill battle..

I think the Chiefs really improved, I was going to challenge this as a regular TD, but I thought it would be a good topic for the Tournament Finale

Good times cuz and good luck.

We could've done Boys draft vs. eagles, but you know we dominated.

A great RB and CB in the first and a RB and CB that have top round talent in the 4th and 5th.

I can't wait for football!!! I am so excited, I had to wear my Ware jersey last night.

sry philly as i love arrington i feel you focused too much on him making the saints draft the best. He was drafted where he was for a reason. Carolina did a great job and Nick did a good job showing it.
