I buy. Rich holds notable wins over Travis Fulton, Marvin Eastman, Jorge Rivera, Evan Tanner (twice), Ken Shamrock, Edwin Dewees, Nathan Quarry, David Loiseau, Jason MacDonald, Yushin Okami and Travis Lutter. Rich can't get past the dominating Spider Silva. I like the move to light heavy because I think he would be a good one. He dominates everybody in the middle weight except for Anderson Silva. I think it's smart of "ACE" to move up. He can't beat Spider and running through the middleweights like he does and then getting beat by Spider is getting old. I think Rich "ACE" Franklin could stirr up the lightheavyweight division. I mean look for example. Rick Franklin vs Jardine, Liddell, Rashad Evans, Michael Bisping, and Rampage. I think he would fit GREAT in the light heavies again. His record is 23-3 and he is one of the faces of the UFC. The lightheavy weights need another good fighter and Rich Franklin is THAT.

I guess I have to sell.

Look, I love Rich Franklin. He's my favorite fighter. But if he went up a weightclass, he wouldn't dominate it like he does Middleweight. People are coming into MMA/UFC more rapidly than ever before. I know he hasn't beat Silva, but it's not like he's gonna run out of people to fight.

Plus, he still hasn't fought Dan Henderson at 185lbs. He should at least beat everyone at the top (except Silva) before even thinking about going up. He started out as Light Heavy early in his career, but chose to move down to dominate the lower class. Walking around at 205 and fighting at 185 is totally different than walking around at 205 AND fighting at 205. He'd have to change up his whole routine. Not only that, he'd have to bulk up to fighting at 205, not just be 205. There's no way Rich could get in the octagon right now and fight Rampage. Fighting and dominating the Middleweights isn't the same as fighting the L.Heavyweights. Light Heavy is packed full of stars that would prove tough matchups from Franklin.

I'm not saying he couldn't do it, eventually, but he shouldn't/couldn't do it right now.

I think he can right now. Throw him in the fire of the lightheavies and he would get some wins. Franklin is a fighter and usually destroys competition unless it's Spider. Spider has been two of his only 3 defeats.
Rich Franklin could beat Michael Bisping, possibly Jardine, and others. He couldn't hanlde rampage off bat but he would thrive in the lightheavies. Ttio Ortiz is leaving and they need some more big names up there. I'm not really impressed with Forrest Griffin. Yes, he beat Shogun but Shogun was WAY out of shape in that fight. I think Rich would be a top contender in the light heavy. He might not be number 1 or number 2 but CLOSE. Rich Franklin can fight and moving up one weight class won't hurt the future HOFamer in the UFC in my opinion. If you don't like Rich Franklin then you don't know real fighting. Just because Spider dominated Rich doesn't mean too much. Anderson Silva is on another level in the middleweight division. I call him the MJ of the Middleweights, that being Michael Jordan. ha

Michael Bisping is in Middleweight, and he says he's staying there. So if Rich were to fight him, then he would have to stay put.

Rich Franklin isn't used to fighting bigger fighters. He would just be in the pack, and like you said, CLOSE, but no Champion.

Let me put it to you this way: Rich Franklin has a bar. It's on level 6. Everyone else in Middleweight is at a 4, except Silva and Hendo. When Rich moves up to Light Heavy, his bar is still the same, but the competition's bar is at 6-8. Big difference.

And another thing, if Franklin moves up, and somehow wins the title, what's to stop Anderson Silva from moving up and whipping his **** there. Would be the same thing. What Rich needs to do is gear up, fight and beat Bisping and Hendo, and then train like a motherfker and beat Silva. Until he does that, he has unfinished business in the Middleweight class.

Sure, if he moves up, it won't hurt his HOF status, but it's not gonna help it either. Randy Couture moved down to fight Chuck, and we know how that ended up. Stick to what you are used to.

Rich Franklin not matter the competition can't gear up for Anderson Silva. Anderson Silva owns him. He beat Rich in his hometown. Rich Franklin is a great fighter and those losses don't hurt his career. Rich would be a very decent light heavy. I would like to see Forrest Griffin and Rich. I don't think that's two one-sided. I didn't know Bisping went down but if he did then that's a great idea. Anyways, anything can happen in ufc. Franklin has the matches down and only needs to get stronger to hang in the light heavy. Think of this, wouldn't it be enjoying to watch Franklin in the lightheavies fighting big names and staying competitive. . Wanderlie Silva for one. Franklin can do anything he wants to and is an ELITE ufc fighter. With only 3 losses and 22 wins this guy has the experience and power. He might need to get a little bit stronger in the light heavies but he is an athelete and will do his job. This is a buy. Rich Franklin minus Spider in the Middleweight division would be TOPS.

Rich Franklin IS tops in the middleweight besides Spider. And it's not that far fetched that Franklin would beat Silva. The first fight was a good fight, and Rich wasn't even 100%. The second one, though, was just embarrassing. My point is, a fight is a fight, and anything can happen. Rich possesses the skills to beat Anderson Silva, he just hasn't put it all together.

You're argument is that he should move up to stay competitive. I say he still has people to fight where he's at.

Rich and Bisping would be a decent fight, though I would take Rich to win in the second round. And Rich and Hendo would be a great fight to watch. That's what should be in the works right now. Franklin/Bisping, and then Franklin/Hendo. And IF Franklin gets through both of them, then he should fight Anderson Silva one more time. If he can't beat him, then he can't beat him. Then there will be no one else left to fight. But as far as I see it, he still has at least 3 fights left in Middleweight before he should move up.

This is a SELL, until he finishes up with the Middleweight division.

The real question is: Who would you rather have? Vida Guerra or Jessica Alba. Think about it.

Good luck.

"prove tough matchups from Franklin"

meant: "prove tough matchups FOR Franklin."

Wow. I see FanNation loves MMA TD's based on all the traffic this one is getting. LOL!

Vote to the right. Better arguments. I don't know much about the MMA. RobertMenn swayed me a little more that way.
