Just for starters, the Chargers will own this division, coaching or not. In no way can Norv Turner turn this 14-2 team into a 4-12 team. If he does, I will tattoo "Cowboys rock" on my arm. But the reasons this incredibly talented team will win the division are Tomlinson's astounding abilities which include rushing, receiving, and passing. He rushed for over 1,800 yards last season, set the TD record at 31, as well as passed for 2 TDs. Phillip Rivers will be in his second year as a starter and will have a great rapport with Antonio Gates as well as the other receivers. They added Craig Davis in the first round which will take coverage off of Gates with his abilities. The defense is top five yet again led by Shawne "Lights Out" Merriman. This man is a monster and racked up 17.5 sacks in only 12 games. I foresee even more sacks this season with the emergence of Shaun Phillips on the other side. They have the big man in the middle of that line in Jamal Williams who is a monster and eats up blockers every play. Luis Castillo will be a year more experienced and be just as good against the run. Now the secondary is somewhat weak, but with that pass rush, it matters not.

This may all be true, but I think that the Broncos have a very strong chance of winning the AFC West. Quarterback Jay Cutler shows plenty of promise and coupled with the great offensive mind of Bill Callahan, they should be very formidable. As they do every year, the Broncos have a great running back in Mike Bell. He just won the spot last year and he can only get better. The Broncos may be very solid at these positions, but they definitely outshine the Chargers at receivers. Rod Smith and newly acquired free agent Brandon Stokley should make plenty of plays.

Whoa, I think you have mixed up a few things there. First off, the coach of the Broncos is the "All mighty" Mike Shanahan not Bill Callahan and Travis Henry is going to be the starter for the Broncos and Bell will be in as the Spell HB and in particular situations. At receiver Denver has Rod Smith, who was injured much of last year and is up and over 30. Javon Walker on the other hand will be the only real target for this team besides the running backs. Stokley is coming off a major leg injury as well as an injury plagued season. I really don???t see him doing much of anything for this offense. The defensive line will be pretty much rookies and that can???t be good especially in a division with two other powerful offensive lines in the Chargers and Chiefs. They will be pushed around even with big man Sam Adams (who is 34 and not all that great anymore as we saw last year in Cincy). But the Chargers will win this division because of LT and that offense. Phillip Rivers will be in his second year of starting and his receivers will be better this year. They have tall guys to use in the red zone (Gates, Parker) and speedy guys to use to get into the red zone (Gates, Davis).

Sorry about the coaching confusion. The names sound almost the same to me. I know that Travis Henry is the starter but I think that Bell is better and will eventually become the starter. Either way on the receivers the Broncos simply are better. Stokley's injury will heal and Smith still has a few seasons left in him whereas the Chargers' McCardell is very old and they don't have anyone great behind him. It's true, the Chargers running game is very powerful, but there offense almost reminds me of the Cleveland Cavaliers. LaDainian really won???t have much help, especially with the great John Lynch and Champ Bailey hounding the receivers and Rivers. I think the Chargers will be a good team, it???s just that offensively, you must have more options; against the Broncos that is. The Denver Broncos may not have too many standouts, like Ladainian Tomlinson, but at every position they are very capable of competing. They are just a well-rounded team and a force to be reckoned with.

No, guys just do not come back from achilles injury (especially tears) and play the same. He will be slower (he is already over 30) and McCardell hasn't been a Charger since the end of the season; he was released. John Lynch is 34, slow, and not the guy he used to be. He is only on that team because they have no one better and because of his leadership qualities. Champ Bailey will shut down one half of the field, but he doesn't cover 6'5" tight ends like Antonio Gates. Against the Broncos last year, the Chargers absolutely obliterated them 41-27 and swept them overall. The Broncos just don???t have the offensive firepower to defeat the Chargers. They have only one real receiving threat and the running game to lean on. The defense is young in the wrong spots especially in the division they play. A real force is LT who has run all over the Broncos the last couple years even with the Broncos having a top ten defense. They can???t stop him or the Chargers???they can only hope to contain them.

I think, however, that they may be able to stop him. He is the only one the Broncos defense is going to think about before the game. He's like Lebron James, he is the only person that the Broncos will have to prepare for and he just can't keep getting 150 yards game in and game out, it's impossible. This is the reason they lost to the Pats last year and the reason they will lose to the Broncos this year. And it's true, last year the Broncos didn't have the offensive firepower because half the year Jake Plummer was starting and the other half Jay Cutler was starting. This year SHANAHAN (I think I got it right this time) will have time to work with Cutler and the receivers to have a very potent offense. I???m not pretending that the Broncos are a much better team than the Chargers, it???s just that they have more weapons.

Shanahan vs. Norv Turner, though? NT doesn't have to go 4-12 to not win the division...just throwing a thought out there.
