the cowboys are the strongest team in the NFC east, yea the giants won the superbowl but they where a wild card team .they havent been division champs in like 8 years, the eagles and the skins have no chance at all with the cowboys playing as well as they have been the cowboys will roll through the east for the second consecutive year

Ok. I'll go 100% against my belief system and argue this.

Dallas will NOT win the East

Why? Simple.

Start with it's the best division in football. Add in a MUCH tougher schedule than last year, T.O. is a year older, Glenn is almost certainly done, and the FACT there is not legitimate THIRD receiver on the team let alone a second.

Oh, the secondary? Well there is the stud, Newman...and then what? Roy Williams might just be the WORST cover safety in the NFL. Don't give me any nonsense about his Pro-bowl appearances either. I'm a HUGE Cowboys fan and that dude has flat out SUCKED for the last 3 years. He's living on rep.

Tony has two guys to throw the ball to (Owens and Witten). That's pretty much it. MBIII has been great as the #2, does that automatically mean he's going to be a stud as the starter? Unless you are 12 or are a Cowboys bandwagon fan do you remember Troy Hambrick? Absolute stud as a backup and absolute flop as the starter.

Here's the thing. The Giants are FULL of confidence after winning it all. The Eagles and Redskins both improved in the offseason. The schedule is a LOT more difficult.

And Dallas' biggest off-season acquisition? Pacman Jones? You kidding me?

they will win the east

how?simple

the cowboys are also coming off a great year of football , and why are u worried about there only being two good recievers owens and witten are all we need . if i recall those are the only two good recievers we had last year and look NFC east champs!

And this is now not then marion is going to be a great starter . he had just about 1000 yards rushing last year as the back up , the guy is a beast that wont go down for nothin.

the cowboys are full of confidance too shoot thhey where the best team in the whole nfc last year .they have a good strong O line with big lenard davis, aundre gurrode and kyle koziar, there D line is tough aswell with ellis and ware at each end. henery andd newman can take care of the secondary

as long as dallas keeps playing the way they have been no team in the east will stop them u call ur self a fan do u not have faith in what ur team is capable of doing

They are coming off a great year of football so that means they are destined to win?

Please.

What is it? 4 of the last 5 years the Super Bowl losers didn't even MAKE the playoffs?

Coming off a great year?

The NFL is a fluid league. Nothing stays the same. The Cowboys did little to help themselves in free agency, and if you are counting on a DRAFT to help, you are nothing but a homer. Rookies VERY RARELY contribute to a winning atmosphere no matter where they are drafted.

And we have the Wade Phillips-Jason Garrett dilemma to deal with. Think Wade doesn't realize his job is on the line? Think Jason doesn't know that undercutting Wade is in his best interests?

2009 the Cowboys move into THE premier stadium in the world.

Again, I digress.

I ask again, after Owens, who the heck is going to catch the ball from the wide out position? And that's using T.O. and "catch the ball" loosely. Who is the #2 receiver? #3?

"u call ur self a fan do u not have faith in what ur team is capable of doing"

Here's the thing. I know EXACTLY what they are capable of and what their weaknesses are. You ignore their weaknesses, or are just a homer, and assume everything remains the same. It doesn't.

ok,even with all of the problems the cowboys are having they are still better then the whole NFC east division. Yea T.O is getting older but that dont mean anything, get your popcorn ready because T.O. and the rest of the cowboys team are playing very good ball finally for the first time in 12 years. none of the other teams even came close to matching the cowboys record in the east . the cowboys are good and they just keep getting better,so i predict the boys to roll through the east and be division champs agian

"none of the other teams even came close to matching the cowboys record in the east ."

Cowboys 13-4 (lost first round of playoffs)
Giants 14-6 (won super bowl)

None came close?

"i predict the boys to roll through the east "

Dallas was 4-3 against the East last year

1-1 against Washington
1-1 against Philly
2-1 against NYG

Do you expect they are going to go 9-1 against teams NOT in the East again this year? I sure don't

T.O. being a year older doesn't mean anything? Sure it does, it already means he doesn't heal as quickly as he used to when he suffers the inevitable injury. These days he's got to put that hyperbaric chamber on overdrive in order to heal from the relatively minor injuries. Age catches up with everyone, including Owens. Even if he's 100% healthy all year, who lines up opposite him? Patrick Crayton is, at best, a #3 receiver. Counting on Terry Glenn coming back at anything close to his old form is fooling yourself

And, again, I love Barber but he's NEVER been a starter. Not even in College. How is he going to handle that role? We simply don't know, yet. There are too many question marks on this team and that division is too good to assume they win the division

i have a TD still going from earlier but it not showing up can people still vote on it

May 9, 2008  04:53 AM ET

Yes, they can. Unfortunately the idiot who started a bunch of foolish TD's ran everyone off the front page.

May 9, 2008  05:03 AM ET

I supposed to play golf in a few hours, weather permitting, so I'll get back to this tomorrow.

May 9, 2008  06:45 AM ET

Uh the next time I praise the Redskins, DWS, will not only will be the first time, it will occur immediately before my obviously insane riddled brain causes me to commit suicide!

May 9, 2008  06:52 AM ET

Gotta love it when people vote against me just because they don't like me...

May 9, 2008  07:14 AM ET

the nfc sucks

May 9, 2008  07:16 AM ET

Ellis and Ware "at each end"? Uh...both of them are linebackers...

May 9, 2008  07:56 AM ET

Altho I'm a huge Cowboys fan, and I do think the Cowboys will win the NFC East, the agruements so far for them winning it are weak. So far, I have to vote to the right... damn it.

May 9, 2008  07:58 AM ET

Ironic that the Cowboy fan on the right is able to effectively dismantle his team in arguments. Was it worth it CCC? Or are you weeping...

May 9, 2008  09:20 AM ET

This is blasphemy CCC

May 9, 2008  09:38 AM ET

I have good reason not to like you, and will vote any way I feel like it. You make me sick.

May 9, 2008  10:02 AM ET

T.O. is a year older...so what. He is better than anyone the Eagles have, or the Redskins have and would still take him over Plaxico today. For some reason he is a phenom and age has yet to catch him.

May 9, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Actually, I voted against you CCC because you can't convince me that the Cowboys won't win the East again. Simple as that.

May 9, 2008  11:07 AM ET

Very nice arguments Triple C. I know it must be killing you to do it.

May 9, 2008  11:48 AM ET

I voted right, not just because I am an Eagles fan but because there are much better arguments to the right.

May 9, 2008  12:15 PM ET

I agree much better arguments to the right, i am a die hard eagles fan, but on paper dallas is the most talented team in the nfc east i can admit that. But dosent mean they are definatley gonna win it becuase of the reasons stated to the right

May 9, 2008  01:08 PM ET

The arguments on the right are really good and I am leaning that way.

May 9, 2008  01:13 PM ET

Actually, I voted against you CCC because you can't convince me that the Cowboys won't win the East again. Simple as that.

John Gruden | 05/09/08, 10:27 AM

Right, Gruden. I doubt the arguments on the left convinced you that they will. Vote to CCC by a wide margin.

May 9, 2008  02:22 PM ET

Better argument on the right. Although I know it must have killed him.

May 9, 2008  02:29 PM ET

"Yea T.O is getting older but that dont mean anything,"

Since when does age not mean anything. You have to explain why if you are going to make statements that are otherwise considered to be false.

Only need two targers? Your just a homer. They will be good but I would favor the giants. WRs are just as good, strong at tight end. Cowboys have the better running backs but the O-line I favor the Giants. D-Line is the Giants by a landslide, linebackers goes to the Cowboys and the secondary is a wash. Leaves us to QB. I take Eli who will extremely confident right now. Romo seems to falter when the spotlight is on him. His biggest games have been his worse. Maybe one day he will put it together like Eli did but until than I favor Eli.
