Rickey Henderson is an absolute must on this list. He is without a doubt the greatest leadoff hitter of all time. He's stolen over 400 more bases than anybody else in history. Henderson was incredibly good at getting on base. He was among the top 10 in the league in OBP 16 times. He was acknowledged as a good fielder, an could hit for some power as well (hit over 15 HRs 8 times). Again, the best leadoff hitter of all time has gotta be on this list.

Kirby Puckett deserves to be on the list as well. His career numbers don't really do him justice, because injuries forced him into premature retirement. Puckett was the entire package. He hit well for average. He hit well for power. He was an absolutely incredible fielder, winning 6 gold gloves in just 12 seasons. He was probably the most important player for the Twins in their world series wins in 1987 and 1991. Most importantly though, he was a great leader.

Basketball, do you plan on...doing anything?

May 11, 2008  10:53 AM ET

Yeah...I actually fell asleep at the computer last night. Sorry about the wait.

May 11, 2008  11:31 AM ET

That's one nice lineup on the right. Will wait for more arguements to see why LIfer chose who he did before voting though.

May 11, 2008  11:33 AM ET

You have to give it to LIFER, he did not cherrypick his guys. That will be an uphill battle for sure.

May 11, 2008  11:36 AM ET

Good point, tool..I mean nick - that is why I'm waiting.

May 11, 2008  11:47 AM ET

Wait we shall, emperor.

May 11, 2008  02:09 PM ET

Right now...I would give the vote to Basketball Jesus. Ricky Henderson and Kirby Puckett have to be on this list.

I will wait though on the arguments.

May 11, 2008  02:44 PM ET

Henderson and Puckett, how can you kiss them

May 11, 2008  02:52 PM ET

Guys...I appreciate the votes, but let Lifer make an argument first....

May 11, 2008  07:07 PM ET

Sorry I don't have time for this, something big has come up and I'm not going to be on FN very much in the next few days. Again, really sorry. I wouldn't be doing this if I thought I could get in another argument.

No problem Lifer...good luck with whatever you need to do.
