State 1st. Argue 2nd and 3rd/
My pick- DeAndre Jordan
Nickb23- It's a Girl! said 05/11, 05:57 PM
I will follow your wishes even though I am against the whole theory of just using 2 of the 3 arguements. I ask that if you are reading this you give us both a chance to state our case in the 2nd arguement before you judge our choice. I will say the key word in this is player...the best PLAYER is...
Kevin Love, UCLA
Mets Fan: www.sportsnoise.com said 05/11, 06:08 PM
Don't get me wrong, Love had a great freshmen year at UCLA. But a lot of basketball analysts and I think that Love isn't ready to make an impact being in the pros. He's not mature enough yet. He should have stayed at UCLA for another year.
Coming out of Texas A&M, DeAndre Jordan is ready to make an impact and is a great player.
Jordan will make an impact because of his dominating presence on the court and his size. He is 7'0, while Love is 6'10".
I'll have more next.
Nickb23- It's a Girl! said 05/11, 07:33 PM
You say Love is not mature enough for the NBA, I say Jordan is not even mature enough for the college game.
Love was the key contributor on a returning final 4 team as a freshman. He averaged 30 minutes a night. In the 4 games that truly mattered (the tourney not counting round1, for obvious reasons) he gave them 35.3 a night out of 40 minutes. His numbers against those 4 teams (all with NBA talent) 19.8 PPG 11 RPG 4BPG. The NCAA Tourney is the best way to gauge what can be done at the next level.
Jordan (love the last name, that is where my love ends) averaged 20.1 a night. But in the tourney when the Aggies needed him..... he played 5 minutes and 15 minutes. One of those he was matched with the not "mature" enough Love. What did he do you ask? 6 points 4 rebounds 4 turnovers and 0 blocks. So Love probably didn't do much, since Jordan is so good, right? Try 19 and 11....and my favorite stat.....7 blocked shots.
So you are gonna tell me that an NBA team ( I realize the GM's are stupid, but pretend you are one) would rather have a guy who could barely crack the A&M lineup...over a guy who stared for and hit clutch shots (might I add)...the 3 straight final 4 UCLA Bruins.
Mets Fan: www.sportsnoise.com said 05/11, 07:55 PM
In your argument you talk about games that DeAndre Jordan was off. How about you talk about games when he was on? Oh yeah, he played limited because he was the main contributor on the Aggies.
And you're right, i think NBA GM's would rater have Jordan than Love.
He led the Aggies throughout the season.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36142
He also led them to the 2nd Round. He was a main factor in the 1st Round BYU game.
If it was not for jordan, the aggies would not have made March Madness.
By the way, the Aggies only lost to UCLA 51-49. and you're telling me jordan is worse than Love. They only lost by 2 points.
Happy Voting!
Nickb23- It's a Girl! said 05/11, 08:21 PM
I get it the jig is up, you are just messing with me.....
"He also led them to the 2nd Round. He was a main factor in the 1st Round BYU game. "
In that game he had 5 minutes and 0 points and 1 rebound. Was he the waterboy that kept them hydrated
"If it was not for jordan, the aggies would not have made March Madness."
He averaged 8 and 6, I think they could have made iwith a walk-on in his place.
"How about you talk about games when he was on?"
I will do that for you now. All his double doubles.
12 and 10 against Ouachita. 16 and 12 against Rice. and oh, wait that's is it. The whos who of NCAA teams.
I don't know why you think I am not giving Jordan his due. I just finished your arguement for you.
Let me finish by saying......Love averaged a double double, something Jordan did twice. Love did it 23 times. But the most telling stat to me...Love scored double figures in all 39 games at UCLA(13 for Jordan). That tells me that he is ready, because guys always have off nights, but he still found a way to give his team something every single night.

I like both picks in this one. I'll wait for more arguments as always though.
YankeeNation, none of the players you mentioned have the potential that these two do.

Those 4 all have just as many flaws in their game as Love. Except his only true flaw is he just doesn't appear athletic enough. Teams that pass him after the big 2 WILL regret it, the boy is basketball player (which means more than you might think)

Ok people that voted for him need to man up, he made no valid points whatsoever. He said a guy who played 5 minutes was the reason they made the 2nd round. Although lakers#1 is probably mad because I said the lakers first real test wouldn't come till they went to Utah and I was right.
