We The People first round What three pitchers have the best chance to have 20 wins?

Alright here's my 3 picks:

Brandon Webb:8-0 already!

Joe Saunders:6 wins already, and has been on a hot streak since September of last season.

Jake Peavy:one of the best pitchers in baseball, always a Cy Young candidate.

I agree with Webb.

I'm going to add Cliff Lee and Chien-Ming Wang to the mix.

I'm not buying Saunders just yet. I know, he's off to a great start. However, he's a young starter, and young starters burn out easily. Peavy's Padres aren't looking so good either. Granted, neither are the Yankees. But I'll explain in a bit about Wang.

Cliff Lee has arguably been the best pitcher in baseball this year. 6-1, 0.81 ERA and 39 K's in 43 innings is great. The Indians offense has been incredible this year, and I think he's for real.

Wang has won 19 games in consecutive years. He knows how to win, and he has a good offense behind him. He's looking even better than before, and he should break the twenty win plateau.

Ok,here's the thing;Lee has some good stuff, but has been inconsistent. He was 2-3 last year and spent a long while in the minors last year after starting for several years. He has gotten hot early on,he will cool down.Still, playing in the AL Central will wear on him a little as the season wears onj.

Ok,Saunders was 7-3 in '06 and 8-5 in '07.He is staying a full time starter. He has proven he could pitch consistently over the last two years, and his 21-9 record shows that. And pitching, with a team who hits as well as the Angels shall help him tremendously.

Wang,is a good pitcher with good stuff. But his sinker isn't as good as Webb's is,and that's why I don't think he'll win 20 games, sure he has one very good pitch, but that's it.Webb, mainly uses that sinker but it is one of the best pitchers in the game.(I'm aware you agreed with Webb).Wang,I can't see winning 20 even in the AL with his high 3 ERA.

Lee has won 19 games before. He used to be one of the rising stars in the league, and now, he's reaching his potential.

I still think that he'll tire out by August. Once young phenom pitchers get on a roll, managers overwork them terribly.

His 'high 3 ERA' has won him 19 games in consecutive years. He's been the most consistant Yankee pitcher, and he knows what it takes to win.

I'm surprised you haven't argued peavy yet.

Forfeited Turn

Don't know what else to say.

Who knows if anyone will win 20? We can't tell based off of injuries, slumps, or fatigue. However, I hope somebody does.

I dont like Saunders he's not getting 20 wins and Peavy will come close

I dont like Lee getting 20 but i like Webb and Wang

list of saunders 08 accomplishments

AL Cy Young
AL MVP
NL Cy Young (he will find a way)
30 wins
negative 3.48 ERA
412 Ks
no WHIP. Saunders doesn't believe in baserunners.
28 saves
gold glove
silver slugger

I think I covered mostly everything.

good not placing Johan up there, he plays for the Mets, so the run supports there and he's the best pitcher in baseball

Report Offensive Comment

Hmm I wouldn't call the Indians' offense incredible just yet.

crap,fofeited argument

there is no way saunders is winning 20 so i'll say webb, wang and peavy all three excellent pitchers two of the three play in the easy nl and one plays for the powerhouse even though not yet yankees and has the most wins the past three years and has the same amount of wins as saunders

Webb i think has the best chance if anyone can do it. I think the days of 20 win pitchers are almost over. To many pitch limits, 5 man rotations, and trips to the dl for runny noses in baseball these days.
