Although the yanks currently are playing very mediocur baseball I know they will soo pick it up and Boston will soon slow douwn.

I dont doubt that the yankees will start playing better but they have no pitching really. they are not hitting that good. On paper they arent even the second best team. The Rays have better pitching and hit better and Blue jays are maybe better also. They are not close to the red sox. Unless both Boston and Tampa Bay fall apart because of injuries, the Yankees are not going to win the Division... or wild card

Obviously the yankees are not hitting well, A-ROD is injured, with the addition of darrel rasner the yankees pitching will pick up. Also you cant say much about the Rays considering the fact that nobody really knows whether or not they are a fluke because they never played this well. The Rays certainly dont have better hitting. I do think the Red Sox will become injury prone down the stretch as well. Ortiz is going to be playing like he did before he came to the Red Sox. Also, the BLUE JAYS? c'mon! with the exception of good STARTING pitching, they are going to be injured all season and their relief is nothing great. Look for the yankees series with the mets decide whether or not the Yanks will pick it up.

the entire red sox line up would have to get hurt for the yankees to win the division. Ortiz is starting to get hot, Youk is on a tear, the entire line up gives you offense. they also have great pitching with there starters and they are deep at pitching. LISTEN THEY HAVE BETTER PITCHING THEN THE YANKEES. THEY HAVE BETTER HITTING THEN THE YANKEES. they have a better bench and BETTER MANGER. If you add all that up it equals= RED SOX ARE BETTER.

The red sox just dropped a relief pitcher in order to pick up Sean Casey, there is no way the Sox have a better bench or lineup than the Yankees. Nobody really knows what Joe Girardi is capable of except for the fact that in all his years at manager HE IS 1 FOR 1 with manager of the year awards. The Yankees have the second best lineup (behind Detroit). The Yankees also have Phil Hughes who is only 21 and had a terrible start this year but a great one last year. JOBA who is beyond words because he is just great and Mariano Rivera who is just like 10 TIMES BETTER THAN PAPELBON. the yanks have Shelly Duncan on their bench along with Jose Molina (best backup catcher in the mlb) and Morgan Ensberg! ENOUGH SAID. Wait sorry WE HAVE A-ROD AND POSADA MISSING NOW AND WE ARE STILL DECENT!!!!!!!!!1

OK i see all the yankee fans are voting for you because anyone that watches baseball knows that the red sox are better. the TD is who will win the division. can anyone say that red sox are worst then the yankees? no one that is smart can say that. they are better in almost every way!

Ya Yankees Are gonna TAKE IT ALL

RED SOX ARE YOU KIDDING

The way the Yanks are playing right now, And I'm not saying this because I'm a Red Sox fan, I think they'll finish 3rd. Right now Tampa Bay is really impressive. And as a shout out to all Red Sox and Yankee fans, I'd be worried about these guys. Their starting pitching is great, their scoring runs left and right, and they have good young talent, led by veterans that know the game very well. I think the order based on play so far goes:
Red Sox
D-Rays
Yanks
Blue Jays
O's

What is up with all these retarded Yankees fans on this site. This current moron's argument was that the Red Sox will be injury prone down the stretch. You have absolutely no evidence of this AT ALL. You are just making competely irrational statements. EASY VOTE right

You know the red sox will be injury prone because either they have all been injured so far this season and they are really old. Ortiz is not playing well and Manny is slowly decreasing.

At this point, the Yankees will finish third. The Red Sox have a better rotation/bullpen, a better every day lineup, and the Sox actually have a first baseman, as opposed to a giant black hole. Even with Alex Rodriguez, he was hitting relatively bad numbers. Finally, the Yankees are nothing without Jorge Posada behind the plate.

Don't underestimate the Rays, either. They have a MUCH better pitching staff than the Yankees and their every day lineup can either field, run, or hit...and most can do all three.

As a Mets fan with daily access/subjection to YES and the NY media, I can tell you that most Yankees fans have realistic expectations for this season. I feel they will have to trade for a decent back of the rotation arm (Bronson Arroyo is a name I've heard), as well as get 10 2nd half wins from Joba, to have a shot at the wild card. The young starters this man is referencing are simply not ready to pitch and win games at this level. Hughes I think can get there, but Kennedy has been awful, and giving starts to Igawa and Rasner is not a recipe for winning the division. There is no reason to believe the Yankees can finish ahead of the Red Sos this year.

Angels will take the AL pennant, so this discussion is mute!

May 13, 2008  03:51 PM ET

HAHA, yea, the Angels have done very well in the playoffs since 2002. They've been swept twice by the Red Sox and won a single game once in the ALCS. I am not buying the Angels until I see them do something in the postseason again

Ah, another weakminded argument from another weak mind; one that thinks that what happened two years ago will determine what happens this year. Better stick to your fantsy league & your team's Super Bowl success.

The Red Sox don't look particulary strong. What happened, they won a couple?
