This season's NBA MVP, going by the rules set in this argument, has to be Chris Quinn of the Miami Heat.
Despite his team tanking games purposefully this season, he still managed to average almost 8 points a game and had 3 assists per game. The Heat benefitted from having him the lineup whenever possible.
His 3 point percentage was a startling 40%, and his free throw percentage was a respectable 86%.
He turned it on hard in the last 5 games in the season, when the team simply would not win, averaging 12.8 points a game down that stretch.
In their 2 wins in that time frame...he had a total of 27 points! Nailing it down baby. This Quinn kid had the moves. And based upon the rules set forth, he was the NBA's MVP.
Should you disagree, feel free to take the challenge.

I have the best choice for NBA MVP. There were 3 choices for me to pick: Quentin Richardson, Quincy Douby, and Quinton Ross.
I'm arguing for Quentin Richardson because he is the most valuable player with a name starting the letter Q!!!
Wade, Marion, Parker, and Mourning missed many of the games so the Heat really had no one on the team left. Just by default Chris Quinn got the ball. If Marion, Alonzo, and Wade were on the team he would be putting up the same small numbers with everyone active and not very valuable.
Richardson never had this opportunity. Richardson put up respectable numbers with a healthy lineup and he could put up even better numbers if some Knicks became injured. If Lee, Robinson, and Crawford became injured, then Richardson would be putting up even better numbers than before. Kind of like last season before the selfish PF Zach Randolph came to town but Zach of course plays with Eddy Curry (a terrible combo). They are more concerned with what is for dinner than whats the teams record. Despite this, Richardson has managed to put up respectable numbers the entire season even though everyone else is unfortunately playing.

Quentin Richardson couldn't start for the Knicks most of the season. The Knicks people. He couldn't start for the Knicks. Thats like not starting in golf. Think about that.
Chris Quinn was the Heat's secret weapon (they didn't even know about it because they were tanking at the time) and he was an exquisite shooter.
Q Rich's stats? He scored points by default. 35% field goal percentage, 65% free throw percentage. He actually scored more on groupies than he did on opposing teams. Its just that awful.
Quinn scored 27 points in just 2 games down the stretch leading the hapless Heat to 2 victories! They had 15 wins all year. He led them to over 13% of their victories in 2 games! That is, of course, math.
MVP's make their opportunities. You can't say a player didnt have one. Quinn, however it happened, is an agent of the system. Call him Agent Quinn. He tried to single handedly bring down the Heat's master plan of tanking the season. He made his opportunity happen.
And you know I meant last name starting with Q...but in the comments below...my mistake came out. Oh well.
Seriously, Quinn baby. Lots of Quinn. Lots more of Quinn.

You said, "Quentin Richardson couldn't start for the Knicks most of the season. The Knicks people. He couldn't start for the Knicks."
Quentin Richardson started every game that he played in, Chris Quinn didn't start every game he played in.
Next, you described Quinn as a secret weapon
Quinn a secret weapon?
Quentin Richardson V Quinn
8.1 PPG 7.8
4.8 RPG 2
1.8 APG 3
Quentin Richardson scores and rebounds more than Quinn. Quinn has 1.2 more APG, but really,3 APG is not much for a PG. Quinn improved his PPG because stars such as Marion, Wade, and Mourning did not play. Congrats Quinn on playing better than your D-League teammates. Last year, Quentin Richardson scored 13 PPG. Important because this season he plays with a selfish PF who scores 17+ PPG. Plus, his coach did not know how to utilize his players
When Quentin Richardson played while Randolph was injured
9.55 PPG
6.11 RPG
2.77 APG
When Quentin Richardson played while Curry was injured
11.18 PPG
5.45 RPG
2.54 APG
When Quentin Richardson played while Curry AND Randolph were injured
16 PPG
7.66
4 APG
Chris Quinn could only put a few points on the scoreboard when his team was full of D-Leaguers and injured stars.

I didn't want to bring this out in an epic assault, but it must be done. There are children starving in Myanmar, and should I not post the following, there will be nothing left to save them.
Once Shaquille O'Neal criticized the young Quinn master, he decided to destroy that mammoth whale's insinuations and average 15 points a game, 4 rebounds a game, and 7 assists. And THIS happened with better players on the floor than what the Knicks were flowing out there.
Few points? With D-Leaguers? Please. Quinn is the new Zen master. And he's also going to save the children of Myanmar.
Isiah Thomas didn't know how to utilize his players? He maximized the value of the product on the court. All the time. The Knicks will select early in the upcoming entry draft, maximizing the product quality on the floor. In mixing his lineups, he effectively dropped the Knicks to an awful record and placed them strategically at the top of the draft. Why do you think he's still on the payroll? Yep. Thought so.
Quinn is the secret weapon, hidden by the Shaq fat. Shaq hides lots of things in his fat, like Pat Riley's soul. Quinn came out and played MVP for the Q team.
I Like Turtles said 05/14, 02:10 PM
Chris Quinn averaged 7.8 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 3 APG, while my pick Quentin Richardson averaged 8.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 1.8 APG.
The reason I don't think Quinn is valuable was because in that stretch, there were several D-Leaguers he was playing with. I mean, he put up numbers that rivaled Quentin Richardson, but Chris Quinn rarely started and played on a team that had a lot of D-Leaguers such as Kasib Powell, Luke Jackson, Stephane Lasme, Blake Ahearn, and Bobby Jones.
I disagree that Isiah Thomas maximized the value of his players. Even NY fans wanted him out with their "Fire Isiah" chants
As soon as selfish players became injured, we can see clearly that his production skyrocketed. The Knicks I believe are going to trade Randolph or Curry because they simply can't keep both. Then we can see just how valuable Quentin Richardson truly is. Quentin Richardson's talents were hidden because Zach Randolph is selfish, Curry's conditioning problems, and because Isiah Thomas is an idiot. As soon as those two clowns were listed as DNP, he showed what he could do.

I saw this when it was open and was about to take it, but I thought I'd let you have your fun, moon. Here's to someone going nuclear at some point in this TD!

I knew I made a mistake with this TD...not specifying Q as the last name. So if its used against me so be it. I'm really mad at myself for that.

I checked NBA's list of players in alphabetical order and Quinn is the only one that starts with a Q. Unless it is not a complete list. Sorry about the wait though.

Damn Dizzle, this is too bad. It's like when you set up an elaborate practical joke, only to have someone ruin it or get seriously injured in the process, sucks the joy right out of it.

It stinks because I waited 9 hours, got tired of wanting to do it, and now I have to get in the mode of having playtime. I'm not in the mood today.

Since the heat were trying to tank, Quinn getting baskets and rebounds was actually detrimental to his team's goals.

Chris Quinn reminds me of Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman, which reminds me of the brute in that show named Sully. Sully, is by far the funniest name in the English language. For those reasons alone I vote left.
