all positions, 3 SP, 1 CP
Lance Berkman is listed as a 1B and OF.. can use him for either.
C- Genovany Soto
1B- Albert Pujols
2B- Hate to go against Utley, but its Dan Uggla
SS- Hanley Ramirez
3B- Chipper Jones
OF- Josh Hamilton
OF- Nate McLouth
OF- Lance Berkman
SP- Cliff Lee
SP- Brandon Webb
SP- Edison Volquez
CP- Joe Nathan

I see 3 I can disagree with. The starters would be tough to argue Lee and Edison have sick ERA's. Webb hasn't lost or got a no decision, great year. So i will give my differences.
2B- You are a philly fan, so did Chase Utley piss you off or something. With Utley and Uggla, their numbers are almost identical, their is almost no stats where you can say the difference is big enough to matter offensively or defensively. I have but one, it is small. Uggla strikes out more than Utley (what I said it was small)(43 to 27). When you have numbers this similar you have to nitpick. other than that they are identical .
SS- I will get killed for this(probably). Rafael Furcal has had a better year to this point. He gets on base more and strikes out WAY less than Hanley(34 to 15). Also Hanley is a TERRIBLE defender.
CP- Mariano Rivera- Let me put it this way. It is May 18 and he has given up 1 run and has 0 walks. He has allowed 9 base runners in 17 innings. Saves are a great stat and he does only have 11 in 11 tries. But I like a 0.53 ERA and 0.53 WHIP a lot more than 2 more saves.
PhillyFan83: BEAT L.A. said 05/18, 02:44 PM
I love Utley. But at the moment, I feel uggla has had the better year.
Uggla is batting 312, 13 HR, 30 RBI, 33 R, 393 OBP, 669 SLG, 48 H, 14 2B.. i'm aware of his K's
Utley is batting 310, 14 HR, 30 RbI, 34 R, 393 OBP, 643 SLG, 52 H, 12 2B.
Now.. its pretty much a push in every cat. But, Utley has played in 3 more games than Uggla. While this could lower his AVG, he could raise his HR's, RBI's, and R's to leap over Utley in those categories.
I think we could say this is a complete push as even their fielding % are exactly 976. Utley has made 6 errors, Uggla has made 5.
SS- Furcal has been good, and if he didn't get hurt, I would've probably put him. Hanley has more HR, Rbi, R, H, and SB. I know he's played in more games than Furcal, but it shows that Furcal is just too injury prone. It's an all-star team, I would take the guy who is healthy and producing over the guy who is producing slightly better in AVG and R, but can't stay healthy.
CP- Rivera has been lights out. But as a closer all you can ask for is saves. Nathan is 13/13 this year. He has more k's than rivera in the same amount of IP. Running outta room. This is the only position i'll give you the slight edg
Nickb23- It's a Girl! said 05/18, 03:00 PM
While I agree Furcal is hurt although he should be back this week and really I wanted at least a 3rd differnce as your list was strong. This really comes back to your Uggla arguement as Furcal has played in less games and therefore should be lower than Hanley in some areas. The thing is they are expected to do different things for their teams. Furcal is a leadoff hitter he is expected to get on base and score runs. He has a .448 OBP and scored over a run per game so far. Hanley hits in the 3 hole and does great things there for his team. The biggest difference I see is that hanley is flatout as bad a defensive liability as their is in the game. The Marlins have a young staff and that is the last thing they need. Young guys need the confidence that the players behind them will make plays, so they don't try so hard to strike guys out. He hurts his team big in an important defensive position.
We both know it isn't about saves, if it was you would have picked K-Rod and his 17 for 18. Closers need oppurtunity, but they don't make there own. K's are nice but Rivera is older and knows how to get guys out without strikeouts, and preserving pitches. A 0.53 ERA and WHIP is just SICK.

Uggla has been scorching the ball lately, but Utley is having a nice year. I will wait for arguments. Rivera is a good pick.

"But as a closer all you can ask for is saves."
No, you must look at the Save Percentage. The number doesn't matter. What if you had a player with 50 saves, and about 10 of them blown, and you have another pitcher with 30 saves, and only 2 blown.

You have any Vernon Wells jerseys. Weird question I know, when I was a bartender he would come in a bunch in Arlington (his hometown). We ate up their one night and watched a Yanks/D'Backs world series game with him, real nice guy.

I only have one Toronto jersey, and that is of Roy Halladay. I'll probably get a Wells jersey though sooner or later. Wells has been good to the Jays, he's been a mainstay for the club for quite a while now.
