It was a good idea to get rid of Joel Quennville!

Joel Quenville was a terrible coach. Quenville needed to get out of Colorado. I applaud you, Front Office of the Colorado Avalanche for getting rid of him!

Joel Quenneville was a great coach. And the front office did not get rid of Quenneville, he announced that he was leaving the organization.

In two of his three seasons with the Avalanche, Joel Quenneville got them to the second round of the stanley cup playoffs.

With the avalanche, Joel Quenneville coached his 750th game. With the avalanche, Quenneville got his 400th win. Quenneville got the Avalanche their 2nd best record since 2002.

That's why Quenneville was in fact a great coach.

Good Luck SCREWGrossman!!

Seriously?
Quenville was a terrible coach. The thing that everyone looks at is how he has got them to the second round the past two years, but I promise you it wasn't because of his coaching.
One thing I have to clear up right away is that Quenville did not walk away on his on terms the Front Office did not pick up his contract. Quenville didn't even have to have a press conference, he did that because he is slightly arrogant.
He never let the players build chemistry together. He switched up the lines, it seemed, like every other game this season. No one was able to build a strong relationship with another player because he was playing with a next the next day. The only reason that Sakic, Forsberg, Foote and Hejduk had any chemistry was because they were all Avalanche before Quenville became coach. Before Svatos was hurt and Smyth was hurt Quenville was content with their team but did not act upon his words. He said that he believes that lines had been broken up too quickly, even sometimes based on a single bad shift. This was occurring well before the team's rash of injuries.

See the rest of my argument in the comment section.

How can someone who leads their team to the playoffs for 2 years out of three be a bad coach?

Quenneville got the avalanche their best records since 2002.

How can you say he was a bad coach if I have stats, evidence, and a link to back it up?

Anyway, good luck.

I'll have more later.

Stats are just a number, they don't represent the way a coach is supposed to coach. I bet you are one of the people who hates Barry Bonds. Barry is awesome.

First of all, I don't hate Barry Bonds. I thought this was a hockey td. Guess I was wrong.

And stats are not just a number. They represent what someone can do and how it affects that person's team.

I'm sure you ignored that playoff stat. You probably think that if a coach gets his team to the playoffs two out of three years then that is bad. Is that what you're trying to tell me? Because if so, that's not true. Just look at my arguments and you will see that.

Happy Voting everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck

LOL, three straight 95 point seasons. In 11 NHL seasons as a head coach, he has missed the playoffs.....once. The problems in Colorado were in the "front office", not coaching on the bench. They've made miserable personnel decisions since the lockout.

The current GM in Colorado never liked Quenneville, and never offered him a contract extension. The current one expired this season. Some team, probably Ottawa, will benefit by the mistake of the Avs. Meanwhile, as long as Giguere is making the personnel decisions, they'll continue to struggle. Heck, Giguere didn't want to simply make personnel decisions, he fired Quenneville because Q wouldn't let him coach the team from the owner's booth.

My point exactly Gruden again.

True, but I didn't just go to Wikipedia and get my info! LOL.

But make no mistake, he was fired. No matter what his publicist wrote in Wikipedia. Giguere hates him.

Thanks I'll correct that

Colorado really should have put up a better fight than they did verse Detroit, but they had tons of goaltending issues, which is partially to blame. also, it would've been a perfect story if Forsberg went back to his Avs and they went on to win the cup with alot of the players that did it last time, but everyone could tell Forsberg wasn't really worth taking that risk with.

Another reason why is that he never put enough faith into his younger player like Hlnka, Wolski and Jones. He took Jones off the first line almost immediately after he came up and played out of his mind against Edmonton. Hlnka, a great offensive talent, was never used to his full potential. Parker was always suited up but was rarely ever used. The only time they used Parker is when they wanted a goon. This season the Avalanche did not need a goon.

I have other reasons, I will wait for your rebuttal.

Not sure it was such a great idea. A lot of coaches are looking for work for next season for one. 2 The Aves suffered a truck load of injuries in the Detroit series. Joel may be one of the better ones looking for a team next season...The Aves have been rumoured to be talking to Roy...which is a joke. vote to the right here and LEFT should know that arguments in comments don't count for anything and should be ignored. Make you points in the space provided guy.
