*Choose team in first argument and state the players from that team that has shown the best chance for the NL Rookie of the Year.
Team:
Chicago Cubs
Players:
Geovany Soto
Kosuke Fukudome

This is obviously tough to argue, being that I've picked Fukudome in a past TD to be rookie of the year. But I can't ignore these guys. I assume we are supposed to pick 2?
Team:
Cincinnati Reds
Players:
Edinson Volquez
Joey Votto
I'll be back around noon to continue.

The Chicago Cubs have a better chance at having the Rookie of the Year.
The Cubs have two rookie batting over .310. Fukudome is batting .314 and Soto is batting .321.
The two rookies for the Cubs also have and on-base percentage over .400. Fukudome's OBP is .416 and Soto's is .429.
Fukudome has also scored 30 runs and Soto has scored 20 runs,
The two Cub rookies have over 45 hits. Fukudome 49 hits and Soto 45 hits.
Fukudome has 17 RBI's and Soto has 30 RBI's.
Soto also has 8 homeruns, 1 triple, and 14 doubles.
Fukudome has 2 homeruns, 2 triples, and 11 doubles.
On the other hand for the Reds.
Joey Votto is only batting .280 with an on-base percentage of .348 and has 35 hits. He does have 9 homeruns with 22 RBI's and he has 8 doubles. Votto also has 23 runs.
Both of the Cubs rookies have a better batting average, better on-base percentage, more hits, more triples and doubles.
Fukudome has more runs than Votto while Soto has more RBI's than Votto.
The Cubs have a better chance of having the NL Rookie of the Year.

Ok...this was a cluster-phooey from the get go. I never should have accepted it. Votto, I believe, as a true rookie will be more valuable to an awful team like the Reds. He's on pace for 35+ home runs, he has an OPS of .908, and he's really impressed me on the field.
That said, I'm forfeiting this TD because it's nonsensical for me to continue. Also: the Cubs haven't won a World Series in 100 years, so have all the rookies of the year you like. Hello Henry Rowengartner. At least they won a ring in that movie.
I had to go low and save some of my pride.

Votto played 24 games in 2007....I'm praying he is still rookie eligible.

Report Offensive CommentWow forget it...I may have been a major idiot on this one. Doesn't even seem like Volquez is a rookie. Can someone clarify?

My apologies, but if someone could research the status of my 2 guys I'd appreciate it. I have a huge firewall at work that barely allows me on this site.

Report Offensive CommentThats what I was trying to hear. Thanks.
Votto, if I'm not mistaken, is a rookie. And all it takes is one. So I may stick with this. Although I'm down 4-1 with no arguments. So there may be no point.

Report Offensive CommentPlus...he took two names in the first argument...I thought there would be only one rookie of the year...not fair that he takes two guys...what if Moon wanted the other?

Report Offensive CommentYour TD headline was rookie of the year...not rookie(S) of the year.

Report Offensive Commenti'm going with Votto when the next argument comes my way. I'll just eliminate Volquez from the set-up. I think his throwdown is trying to point out which 'team' is more likely to 'have' a rookie of the year. Which in turn means the Cubs, with 2 solid rookies, should be the favorite. But we'll see.
