The SEC is a harder confrence to win in college football than the Big Ten

The SEC is home to many great teams. UGA, LSU, Florida, Tennesee, Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, ect. Many of the teams don't have a wonderful record but it is only because they are pretty much even teams, sports analisists can't precict who wil win the confrence title because the SEC is so unpredictable, every one thought Florida would own Uga last year but it was the other way around, every one thought Florida was going to beat Auburn, but did they?NO. Then when Uga faced the Vols people thought Uga would win, Uga got embarassed, Then in the Sugar Bowl people thought Hawia would give Uga trouble, man was that a joke, The Big Ten is way overatted they get way more credit than they deserve, they talk about how good Ohio State is all year then when they play the SEC in the title game they look like a 1-aa team

The SEC is a harder conference no doubt- Wrong on 3 counts

1) In the SEC you can drop a game- and still be in contention for the National TItle as well as the SEC title- in the Big 10- you lose ONE game and you are DONE- Has a 2 loss team EVER won the Big 10? Reason being is that the SEC team knock each other off- can you see any team other than PSU or Wisc knocking off Ohio State?

Put it another way- If you are a game back of LSU- and they play FLA, UGA and Tenn- You can feel pretty good about your changes
If you are a game back of Michigan- and they play Iowa, Mich St and Northwestern - you are DONE for that year

The comment about losing two games in the SEC and still winning the confrence is worthless,
First in the SEC there are two divisions, the best from the east and west play each other, in the Big Ten correct me if i'm wrong there is no confrence game the team with the best record wins, so of course a team with two losses isn't going to win, if they had it like the SEC than Ohio state would face the second best team then who knows what would happen,
Secondly the comment "can you see any team other than PSU or Wisc knocking off Ohio State? " what is that supposed to mean , those are the only good teams in the the Big ten, if thats what you are implying than you just shot your self in the foot, this TD issaying that it is harder to win games in the SEC the reason SEC teams win the national title is because they are lucky enough to survive the confrence, and then they kill any other teams from other confrences

That would be my second point

There is a Championship game- If you are a game back in the Big Ten at the Close of the season- you are done- but If UGA is 9-1 and LSU is 10-0 then UGA has a chance to take the title home- If PSU is 9-1 and OSU is 10-0 then Joe Pa is just stuck if they don;t play that year

and your TITLE is

"The SEC is a harder confrence to win in college football than the Big Ten "

No- the Big Ten is because they do not have the DEPTH of teams to knock each other off- as they do in the SEC, and the lack of a title game gived the Big Ten ONE LESS team to play to win.

Of COURSE the SEC is the harder Conf- but it is the easier conf to win

THink on it- If you are Iowa- and you loose week 1 at Michigan ST- you are done for that Big 10 year- until you gamble that MICH AND OSU AND PSU drop 2 game and/or you beat them

If ARK loses to Auburn- they can still see at LEAST one loss on Auburns Sched- maybe 2 in a given year.

LSU lost TWICE in conference and won the COnference- find me a Big 10 team who won the COnf with TWO conf losses and I'll FF right now

Consider that a challange

thank you for your comment Azmodi

"Ahem here are teams and the years in which they won the Big Ten Championship with 2 losses.

Wis 1959 5-2 record.

1981 OSU and Iowa tied 6-2 record.

1984 OSU won title 6-2 record.

1990 Iowa, Illinois, Michigan and Michigan St. tied with 6-2 record.

1992 Michigan won title 6-2 record.

2000 Michigan, NW and Purdue tied for the title with 6-2 record.

Just thought I would toss that out there."

does that answer to your challenge

Thought about taking this. I would have probably called him out on the easy win. I'm sure David will do something else, but his arguments will be superior either way.

EVERY conference beat itself up....how is the sec any different?

May 19, 2008  08:47 PM ET

michigan, psu, ohio st, wisco...with Michigan St and Illinois on the rise.... all beat eachother up...and it lokos to me that the big 10 is the only OTHER conference to go back to back to Championship games win or lose they made it and the rest of the BCS conferences didnt...i dont see you knocking any other conference for not even making it to them....hmm? whys that?

i corrected myself right after I posted it, it is really unnecessary to point out typos and grammar errors in and arguement about sports

Why would that be? You want people to actually be able to read what you've posted, don't you?

May 19, 2008  09:35 PM ET

i could see if it were unreadable, but if you know what they are saying, then why point it out

"The Big Ten is way overatted they get way more credit than they deserve, they talk about how good Ohio State is all year then when they play the SEC in the title game they look like a 1-aa team"

Now that's just unfair...

Ohio State got to the game, but they sure as hell did not look like a 1-AA team. If they were so bad in that game, why did they tie for the 4th most points that LSU gave up this season, gaining more total yards than LSU did in the game?

May 19, 2008  09:41 PM ET

Not the current Big 10 there Azmodi- back in 92 they still could count to 10 in the Big 10+1

but thank you for proving my point.

May 19, 2008  09:41 PM ET

I didn't realize that 7 people on FanNation were stupid enough to vote on Big 10

May 19, 2008  09:53 PM ET

SEC is by far the toughest conference...but the Big 10 is the toughest to win because of everything that NC talked about. If you're a team in the SEC you've always got the conference title game to fall back on if you're fortunate enough to make it to that game.

They aren't. They are voting on the arguments.

May 19, 2008  11:03 PM ET

Ahem look at those dates!!!!!

In 2000 Michigan, NW and Purdue tied for the title each had 6-2 Conference records. That is the modern Big 10+1.

Penn St. Joined the Big Ten in 1990 and alll athletics in 1993. So That proves your last arguement wrong. Sorry just hate seeing people bolster their arguements with myths.

May 19, 2008  11:11 PM ET

Man, I should have taken this TD. I would win and I don't like either conference.

May 19, 2008  11:28 PM ET

MUCH better argunents right

That would be PROVING my point- sharing a title is NOT winning a title
