I don't see how you could forget DeRosa. Not only has he been better than your number five, but he has also been quite a bit better than Pedroia, especially in the hitting department. Lets take a look at their stats:

Average:
Pedroia-.306
DeRosa-.303

OBP:
Pedroia-.408
DeRosa-.343

Slugging:
Pedroia-.451
DeRosa-.405

Those last two numbers, give DeRosa a much better OPS(on base plus slugging), with an advantage of .859 to .748.

They have the same amount of RBIs, but DeRosa has twice as many home runs. He also has about twice as many walks, so he has shown a better eye for the ball.

Pedroia leads all 2nd basemen in hits and fielding % yet he is 4 and 5?? HR's aren't everything.. he also has 6 SB.
