A.J Pierzynski, anyone? here are the stats for there players

Soto: .317 BA, .422 OBP, .614 SLG, 33 RBI, 21 R

mcCann: .316 BA, .379 OBP, .579 SLG, 26 RBI, 20 R

Napoli: .258 BA, .310 OBP, .607 SLG, 23 RBI, 13 R

Martin: .320 BA, .437 OBP, .420 SLG, 17 RBI, 23 R

Mauer: .319 BA, .398 OBP, ,397 SLG, 18 RBI, 25 R

Pierzinski: .317 BA, .371 OBP, .496 SLG, 16 RBI, 20 R

Now, Mauer and Pierzinski are in the AL where hitting is lower for positional players, and runs are lower, so if they are similar to someone else in the NL, they are doing better.

Napoli is not hitting for average or reaching base, he has hit 10 home runs, but he also is not playing as much as the other catchers. Mauer is the best of the 6 defensively, and is the bes at throwing out potential base stealers.

Here is my ranking

1. Soto
2. McCann
3. Mauer
4. Martin
5. Pierzynski

uh is there a reason u didnt put hrs up there?

aj 3 homers

napoli 10 homeruns

aj 1 homer every 46 at bats

napoli 1 homer every 9 at bats

napoli will get a lot more playing time and he has like 50 less abs than aj

Yes, he has 18 fewer games than AJ. and hits 60 points lower. and has an OBP aroun 60 points lower. Give me the guy who has played for about twice the number of games, hits or average, and has a good OBP, even though he hit fewer HR's than the guy who has played for only around 1/2 the games. napoli may be better at the end of the season, but as we are talking about the season up until now, as we cannot predict the future (Kinsler with 10 homers 1st month, then dissapeared after that last year), as of now, AJ Pierzynski is the better catcher.

Mauer and Martin are pretty similar, but Mauer is better defensively, and he means more to is team. Plus, I'm from minnesota (I think everyone on FN knows that) and I'm a homer, so I got to go with my fellow guy from St. Paul. Plus, Mauer leads his team in runs.

O.K. So, you won't make an argument. I think everything that needed to be said was done in my last argument. Add to that the Pierzynski is fiery, and is able to motivate teammates, much better than any other catcher on the list.

"Now, Mauer and Pierzinski are in the AL where hitting is lower for positional players, and runs are lower, so if they are similar to someone else in the NL, they are doing better."

Really?

Yes. The BA is lower in the AL, and add the fact that the NL has a higher BA while the pitcher also bats, and you get that the BA of positional players in the NL is higher than in the AL.

Mauer is 4th in BA in AL. Pierzynski is 6th. Soto, who has the same BA as Pierzynski is 15th in the NL. Seems like there are better BA in the NL.

You guys are MORONS. Jason Varitek is the best defensive C in the league, is batting .290, OB .378, 7 HR 11 2b and 22 RBI.. how is he NOT in the top 5?????

May 20, 2008  02:13 PM ET

Napoli?? No vote to either of you

May 20, 2008  02:30 PM ET

MADMAXPOWERS, Varitek is not the best derfensive C in the league. What are you smoking? Variteck is not all that good at throwing out runners, and he has to miss every 5 starts because he can't catch a knuckleball. Seems like a big hole in his catching. I don't know if the others can catcha knuckleball or not, but we do know Variteck cannot, so that means the others get points over Varieck for that.

Plus, everyonne on my list has a higher BA than Variteck, all but 1 have higher OBP, and none have the advantage of the green monster or a hitters park of that magnitude to pack their stats, not to mention only Soto has a lineup as potent to help with RBI's and runs.

How many catchers do you think can catch a Knuckleball?

May 21, 2008  11:15 AM ET

But Varitack has had plenty of time to learn how with Wakefield on his team, and he still has not.

All catchers miss 1 every 5 starts...they're catchers. They can't play every day rtard. And if you are gonna drivel about "stat packing Fenway" at least do some friggin research. Fenway had the 4th fewest HR's hit, the 2nd fewest triples hit and only the 6th most doubles, all while being .06 points over the league ERA average.REAL advantage. Anything else stupid you want to say GaretJax????

AJ and Napoli should be on that list. God I wish i didn't drop Soto from my FBB team at the begining of the year. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO myself!
