The L.A Lakers are the toughest team to play right now in the playoffs.
Unlike other teams the can win on the road. Most of the team can not win on the road. Besides the last game agaisnt the Hornets the Spurs had lost most of there away games. Lakers have only lost 2 away games and well 2 games period.
The Spurs have won there series in like 6 or 7 games. The Lakers have won theres in 4 and 6. The Lakers play dominate and look to end the series quick. The Lakers have not lost at home yet in the playoffs. The 1st game of the series will be in L.A so i think the Lakers will go into the game with alot of confidence. I think they pull off the 1st game.
If you watched the Spurs and Hornets entie series. West of the Hornets dominated All-Star Tim Ducan. With either Gaso or Odom guarding him he will have his hand full.
I will go more into the matchups in my next arguement....

The San Antonio Spurs are the toughest team to play right now in the playoffs.
Let's look at who the Spurs played in their first two rounds:
The Suns, a great team led by Nash, Stoudemire, etc.
The New Orleans Hornets led CP3 and just a tiny bit with David West.
The Lakers played the Nuggets and the Jazz. Both good teams, but the Spurs had to push to get where they are now.
The Lakers just breezed through. The Nuggets got lost in the wind. The Jazz did the best they could, but couldn't handle Kobe.
The SPurs had to take care of CP3. It took them 7 games. The Spurs players are more experienced than the Laker players.
The SPurs were in the exact same spot last year and won it all. Why not a twopeat?
You said that the Lakers will go into the first game with confidence. What about the other games that they play in San Antonio? Have you lost hope in your fav team already?
You said west dominated Duncan.
That's why Duncan has:
19.3 ppg.
13.3 rpg.
2.7 bpg.
2.7 apg.
Yeah West really dominated. It looks like it was the other way around.
I'll have more next.

Ok let me start off with the matchups.
The only advantages the Spurs have is Parker and Duncan. But if the lakers put Gasol or Odom on Duncan then he will be really no help to the Spurs.
The Lakers have Kobe, Odom, and Gasol. Kobe is averaging 28.3ppg with 6.3 rebs, and 5.4 assists.
Odom is averaging 14.2ppg with 10.6 rebs.
Gasol is averaging 18.4ppg with 8.4rebs.
The Lakers have the MVP award winner Kobe Bryant. As you said the spurs struggled with Chris Paul. Well can you imagine how much they are going to struggle trying to defend Bryant.
And you say Duncan dominated right lets check West stats:
21.0ppg
9.0rebs
2.5assists.
He held Duncan to less than 20ppg in the series. Yes Duncan did good the last game bacause Wset wasnt 100%. Gasol and Odom either one will give Duncan problems the whole series.
As for Parker being an advantage to the Spurs he is but not very big. In the Lakers series agaisnt the Jazz. Williama was figured to play incredible. Fisher play very good againt him and didnt give him anything.
The Spurs are more experienced but i think the youth and offense and the pase of the game the lakers play at will be to much for the spurs.
Mets Fan: www.sportsnoise.com said 05/21, 03:36 PM
You think that Parker can't help the Spurs much? Have you been watching the playoffs? He is one of the main people that got the Spurs to where they are.
Tony Parker's playoff stats;
23.7 ppg
6.3 apg
3.6 rpg.
With those stats, how can you say that Parker does not have a big impact on the Spurs?
And you definitely left out Ginobli. Here are Ginobli's playoff stats:
20 ppg.
4.0 rpg.
4.3 apg.
And let us not forget the Spurs powerful bench, Kurt Thomas, Brent Barry, sharpshooter MIchael Finley, Fabricio Oberto, Robert Horry.
And you say that Gasol and Odom can hold Duncan down. NO CHANCE!
That's why Duncan was one point away from getting 20 ppg and 13 rpg against West.
This is why the Spurs will win.
Cowboys_Fan44 said 05/21, 05:07 PM
Ok most people said the Darren Williams from the Jazz would be a big factor but really he wasnt. He played good but Fisher stepped up and shut him down. Im not saying Parker wont have an impact i know he will but he wont do as great as everyone says. Fisher is underrated and deserves more credit.
Ginobli is a good player but look who he is going to be mathced up with Kobe Bryant. Kobe has played incredible in the playoffs. He has better playoff stats than Parker and Ginobli.
The Spurs have a good bench but lets look at the Lakers bench. They have good players than everyone underrates but really there a good help to the Lakers. Like Farmar, Walton, turiaf and i think the best bench player the lakers have is Sasha Vujacic.
So even though the players on the Spurs bench are talked about more doesnt mean there any better than than the Lakers bench.
I have to say your a funny guy. Gasol and Odom both have better playoff stats than Duncan and yet your saying niether of them can hold down Duncan. Either of them could hold him down.
The Lakers with Kobe's leadership will get the Spurs in 7, actually mabey 6 because i belive the Lakers can win an away game agaisnt them.
Mets Fan: www.sportsnoise.com said 05/21, 05:21 PM
Your whole argument is based on KOBE BRYANT. we all know that Bryant's an amazing player, there's no denying it. But what if he gets injured. What if he has an off series? Who will step up?
I have to say that you're a funny guy. You think that Gasol and Odom can hold Duncan.
If David West and Amare Stoudemire couldn't hold off the always explosive Duncan, what makes you think that Lamamr Odom and Gasol can?
We all know that the Spurs are going to put Bruce Bowen on Kobe. Bowen being a phenomonal defensive player. You know that Bowen will slow Kobe down.
The Spurs bench has a combined 36 ppg.
The Lakers has a combined 30 ppg.
As you can tell, the Spurs have the better bench.
http://www.nba.com/spurs/stats/
With Tony Parker, Ginobli, and Duncan's leadership the Spurs will win the Western Conference.
Notice I did not depend on just one player like my opponent did.
Happy Voting Everybody!!!!!!!

I'll wait for more arguments, but the Spurs are the defending champs, they are way more experienced in the Finals than the Lakers are, and they just overcame the Good Story of the Year in beating the Hornets, and a tough Suns team that is always tough to beat

Lakers breezed through because they are a great team. Spurs struggled because they are not as good as they used to be. Lets say.... Lakers in 7.

Stats lie. Look at the NY Giants going into the playoffs. No stat would have pointed to them winning it all. Pack up your stats and dont forget your dropped pocket protector Maxine.

mmm Cassidy... that is stupid. Seriously. to now think you can compare the Giants to every single team is stupid. The Lakers are the Cowboys of the NBA. The Giants WERE the Magic. Sleeper teams. You are obviously confused. Its ok though. hang in there. Cheater. LOL.I am sorry but ZERO teams allowing 105 PPG in the playoffs have ever won. So plaese, get something fresher than a Giants reference,, idiot.

LOL... Lakers--- they are 2 and 5 against the 3 other teams remaining... they are the only team with a defense that allows 100+ a game... Spurs/ Celtics will be the final. Get back to me when it is over Cassidy... for now, keep off my nuts.

The Giants winning was considered an UPSET for a reason. B/C it disregarded all logical theory. Get a clue please. Nice call on the Pistons winning game 1 too! LOL.

SA scores about 96 a game... a fun fact-
Of the bottom 6 in playoff defense, the Lakers are 2nd to worst. The rest were all knocked out in the first round. (PHX,DAL,ATL,DEN, and TOR)

ok 96 a game and they play good defense to right but then you can say look at the teams they played first of the nuggets who well lets be frank dont give a s**t about defense and all they focus on is offense so u expect good offensive games from them then there are the jazz who score a ton of points at home and a few of their games went into overtime to adding points so i dont think its as bad as u think but they do have to pick it up

madmax, true stats dont lie. But let me remind you that the Celtics played ATLANTA AND CLEVELAND to get to where they are at. Look at these stats:
Combined record of ATL and CLE: 90 - 74
Combined record of DEN and UTAH: 104 - 60

No matter how much 'defense' the Spurs can play, the Lakers are just way too much. The Lakers can score the ball. They are also WAY younger, more athletic, and besides, they have Kobe Bryant. Trevor Ariza may also come back, as he is already practicing fully with the team, which will only add to their depth.
