The Warriors could make it but the West is a very competetive conference. They had 48 wins this year and still fell two games short of the playoffs. The teams in front of them will probably repeat their playoff appearances and then Portland will make it even more interesting when Greg Oden returns I believe that they can also make a playoff run.
You are right they do have a lot of good young players but that may go as a disadvantage for them. They fell apart at the end of the year last year because they are a young team that isn't developed enough to handle the pressure of a playoff run. I think it will take them a couple more years and the signing of some key veterans to get over the hump of the challenge to make the playoffs at the end of the year and not crash and burn. It will come eventually, I just don't think that this year will be the time. They are still too inexperienced.
Another problem I have with the Warriors is they are very thin on the bench and rely too heavily on the starters. If some stars go down you can count them out.
They could make the playoffs next year but I wouldn't bet on it. There are too many good teams in the West and Portland will be a force.

true they dont have a good bench but they didnt fall apart at the end of the year. they didnt ge tblown out ny denver who might trade anthony
J (Browns 19-0) Carbathlee said 05/20, 11:05 PM
They fell apart. They were in the 8th spot about 2 weeks out and blew it going 4-6 in their last 10 games. 4-6 in the west will get you no where.
Denver won't trade Anthony. Trade talks come out all the time, but thats all they are; talks. Seldomely are big named players thrown around like that especially franchise players.
Golden State is very capable of the playoffs but i think they have a better chance of missing the playoffs than making the playoffs. They are too young and don't have a true veteran leader. It proved they weren't ready this year and until they play some defense I don't think they are playoff bound. They rely far too much on their offense to produce night in and out and without a true bench when one of their players go down they will fall apart.
They aren't very good at rebounding either. Only one player had more than 5.5 RPG and it was Andris Biedrins their center. They get outrebounded by most teams and a mismatch can easily be made since they don't have much presence down low.
The Warriors have pressing needs that have to be addressed before they can get over the hump into the playoffs such as less turnovers, more depth (bench), and a true big man
stephenx said 05/21, 01:57 PM
true they lack a big man but they will get that in the draft and they brandon wright. they do have a vetran leader in baron davis
J (Browns 19-0) Carbathlee said 05/21, 10:32 PM
Who knows who they are going to draft. I'm not calling Davis a veteran. He hasn't been around that long and lacks playoff experience. He can't really lead them as he showed this year. Wright really did absolultey nothing last year and when there are no other big men he should have really produced better. Who knows who they are going to draft but I don't think there are too many marque big men this year. Beasley is gone and KLove is probably out too by the time they pick.
Without a big man, they will crumble in the tough tough West. IF the Warriors get a good big man and a little depth from their bench i will consider them as a threat but as of right now i see them as 9th or 10th in the west with the Blazers getting Oden back.
Not much left to say. Covered most of it. Good team, not experienced enough to make the playoffs when the last stretch of games hits them. Plus they can't bang down low.

Call me crazy but I think Seattle could be over .500. They are getting a high draft pick and they already have Durant. If they can pickup Rose they will be dangerous.

IMO none of the Texas teams will be as good next year and yes I do include the Spurs. Still waiting for the fall of the dynasty. For this reason and the fact that the Warriors do have playoff experience I like them as a bottom four playoff qualifier.

Okay J - I'll call you crazy - They're going nowhere on a fast track - they may not even BE Seattle Sonics this time next year. They might be the "Oklahoma City Sonics " ........
They've pretty much worn out their welcome after Karl left and losing became their way of life. They sank - no - RAN to the cellar year after year - after year after ... right out of the gate every year. It's no wonder Seattle fans don't care if they stay or go.
What's fun to watch about that ? The lottery every year? See who's going to be bolting 2 years after they pick them?

The West is just too good for the Warriors to make the playoffs.

The West is very competitive..but I wouldn't count the Warriors out as they are a young developig team. Based on arguments, vote to J.

But you should take Td's with people who are actually willing to argue and therefore give you a challenge. Which is the point of this site.

Honestly I voted left because
a) I'm a warriors homer but more importantly
b) Otto's arguments are fabricated. Baron Davis is not a leader. No playoff experience. Don't know how to make a playoff run. Don't have a true big man. all these are either blatantly untrue or speculative. Or better yet they are opinions posing as facts.
