In my oppinion ALex Rodriguez will not be able to get the Yankees out of their slump. The reason is because the Yankees were in this slump when they had a healthy A-Rod. The rpoblem witht he Major Leagues today is that so many teams rely on just one player and try to pin their problems on that player when it goes alot deeper then what it looks like on the surface.
The reason the yankess are struggling is ebacuse besides Jaba Chamberlain and Mariano rivera there hasnt been a reliable bullpen option this entire year. Each of them besides the two mentioned that have competed in at least 5 games has an ERA of over 4 whih is not what u want from your bullpen.
Also the plate discipline needs to be better for the Yankees. They are striking out on a more frequent basis than they used to and they are also not getting as many walks as they used to draw.
Finally the main reason Alex Rodriguez cant help the Yankees break out of the slump is because their depth. They are having too many injuries ad are starting to begin to show their age. Nobody knows when Posada will bea back or if he can have they year he had last year and jeter just got injured
More to come out of room

Defensively , A-Rod cannot help the Yanks out. But he CAN get them out of their slump. A star player like A-rod can get a spark into the team. Let's say that A-rod knocks a homer out of the park at home and the fans are in the game. Not only will they recieve a boost from their fans but A-rod will give the team better morale.
Im not saying that the Yankees need to be happy to win games BUT morale can effect how a player plays. They say the game is have mental. Slumps in players are usually because the player can't focus like a writer with writers block. So lets say Roduiguz goes on a hot streak and so teams started walking him. That give better opportunities to other players to score points.

Well u say if A-Rod hits a homerun his morale and the stadium start to get into it? what about last night. First game back, first at bat from injury he hits a homerun. Couldn't ask for a better storyline and the Yankee lose, fans arent happy, and the slump continues. One player in a nine man sport can only do so much.
Say A-Rod hits a homerun and commits an error next inning? there goes the morale. he just took 5 steps forward and ten steps back.
The key to the yankees breaking out of their slump is the pitching, especially of Chien-Ming Wang. The guy is a consistent 20 win starter and is struggling along with th bullpen. If any team wants to break out of a slump it has got to be with the pitching. That's where it starts and thats how it will always be. You can have the absolute best offense in the world but it wont matter if you dont have the pitching.
The key to the yankees slump is not the play or absence of A-Rod, its the play of the pitching, bullpen, and keeping their players healthy. If those three things can intertwine with each other than they have a good chance of climbing the standings.

There is many ways one player can effect the whole game. He could make a web gem play that gets not only him but as I have said before his team going. Even there is a remote possiblity that the Yanks should trade A-rod and get some young pitchers with talent and potential? That could excvite the franchise though i doubt it will happen.
One homerun can't get a whole franchise out of its funk. Lets say if he can go on a hot streak in a series against a team that is weak defensively. That could get the team going.
Most of a slump as I have said before is similar to writer's block. A-Rod could contribute to his team by adding a positive presence now that he is back in the locker room. The fact that the team is fully equipped may make the slumping layers top stop making excuses and play to their fullest.

The main point im trying to make towards this is that A-Rod cant break the Yankees out of their slump because A-rod isnt the reason they are in a slump in the first place.
The reason the Yankees are in a slump is because of their injuries and pitching. I cant stress this enough. A-Rod is good and he always will be. He is not the reason for the slump. Take injuries for instance. If Jorge Posada wasnt injured this season and A-Rod never got injured either, the Yankess might be looking a little better. Also, Jeter has had some durability issues this year along with the often injured Giambi. The Yankees are getting old. Another thing that has to happen is the pitching has got to be there. With the struggles of Wang and the enitre bullpen, not named Jaba Chamberlien or Mariano Rivera, the Yankees are in no position to make up any room in the standings.
If the TD is A-Rod helping the Yankees break their slump then why trade him? If they traded A-Rod they would be sending a message to their fan base stating "we dont want to win this year, we are giving up" not a good message to the Yankee fan base
