Its crazy. The jinx cant end his season so it will take over a different part of his life.

The Cancer could come back in Deanna.

He could develop disease himself.

Car Wreck

Mowing Accident

Whatever, he is nuts for being on that Cover.

Where does it's say in the Madden Cover Constitution that a Retired Player can not be on the cover? The guy is a sure fire Hall of Famer. Holds NFL records for...
TD passes - 442
Passing Yards - 61,655
Most Consecutive Quarterback starts - 253 - 275 with playoffs

It's meant to honor the guy as one of the greats in the NFL. And sure it increases sales of the Madden Game as it will become a collector's item.

Whow

I wasnt saying he was undeserving or shouldnt be there. I was stating for his own safety and the well being of his family he should have declined.

The Madden Curse is for real. Now it will not be able to give him a football injury or make him (VY) throw 19 ints. It will have to attack him off the field.

Gee Frank I know that you are a Farve hater ... but I didn't think that you believe in curses.
Do you believe in the Boggyman?
The Toothfairy?
The Easter Bunny?

I'm sure the Favre doesn't believe in them either. And I'm sure that he sees this as an honor and when it comes right down to it money!
I'm sure he is getting a cut of some kind on this whole thing.

I could find any sales stats for the 2008 game but the 2007 game was in excess of 8 million copies in the US alone. I'm sure that this 2009 version will surpass that easily.

Marshall Faulk, Daunte Culpepper, Michael Vick, Ray Lewis, Donovan McNabb, and Shaun Alexander all have suffered significant playing injuries in the season that they appeared on the cover

In total, the eleven cover players since 1999 had a total of forty Pro Bowl appearances prior to their Madden cover appearances, compared with just four Pro Bowl appearances afterward.

Even if not injured players went into steep decline, see Dorsey Levens.

The Curse is real. When you are on the cover bad things happen.

Think of the possibilities:

Raped by nicole bass in a dark alley

when hes throwin the ball across that lake like in the commercial he could fall in and get ate by a giant catfish

he could forget to double bag his groceries, the bag busts and his leg is cut off by a piece of a broken pickle jar

the possibilties are endless, you retired and want to enjoy life, why take this chance?

The Curse as it is called is baloney. It's just a series of coincidences. As it was said in the comments section Football is a rough sport and injuries happen all the time and in every game.
Madden himself was on the cover for the 1st 10 years of the game and what happened to him? Nothing.
Vince Young was on the 2008 version and what happened to him. Nothing. He led the Titans to the playoffs. Other than TD's and Ints he actually had better stats than his rookie year.

Madden 2009 is the 20th anniversary of the game and it makes sense that it goes to one of the NFL's best players during those 20 years. Why would he turn down an honor like that? It's just another honor to go along with him on his trip to Canton Ohio in his Hall Of Fame Career.

Hey frankie poo.

You're crazy man.

May 22, 2008  10:21 AM ET

i wanted this one

May 22, 2008  10:25 AM ET

No coltslaxer, it would be an easy win, but frank would begin to haunt you, screaming bloody cheating and telling people you are a little piece of crap. It's just not worth it. I don't td against frank anymore.

May 22, 2008  10:50 AM ET

Frank, this is FavreNation. You have no hope of winning this. None I tell you.

May 22, 2008  10:51 AM ET

Foosball, so far you completely missed Frank's point. He's not arguing that Favre is undeserving.

May 22, 2008  10:57 AM ET

It will actually work as a reverse curse since he is retired. Favre will win the lotto, while shooting a 12 point buck, and finding a lifetime supply of Wrangler Jeans. All of this will lead to Aaron Rodgers becoming the greatest thing since berries and cream Starburst.

May 22, 2008  11:17 AM ET

The curse isn't real. This is a high injury sport.

May 22, 2008  11:25 AM ET

I don't know about that bucky, i rubbed my rabbits foot today and i haven't been fired yet. Luck and jinxes are a mysterious thing......

May 22, 2008  11:55 AM ET

He's already from Mississippi. How much more cursed can he get?

May 22, 2008  12:03 PM ET

^ well, he COULD have been from tennesee.

May 22, 2008  12:27 PM ET

I'm just waiting for the Nicole Bass tie in.

madden curse is bulls hit its just another thing to talk about at the watercooler

May 22, 2008  12:51 PM ET

Vote left. Frank isn't hating on Favre he's just stating the obvious Madden curse. Foosball should counter his arguments to what Frank is saying.

May 22, 2008  12:52 PM ET

I normally don't believe in curses but it's pretty uncanny that all those covermen had something bad happen to them. That cannot be random. It just cannot be.

May 22, 2008  06:38 PM ET

I agree J.HOVA. There is something to that curse as Frank has pointed out.

May 22, 2008  06:45 PM ET

Frank starts to earn some respect with his arguments as of late......
