The pending trade Camby + melo to the nets for Jefferson+Marcus Williams+VanHorn would make the Nets one of the Top 3 teams in the NBA on paper
Woahbigguy Flint Tropics said 05/22, 05:27 PM
his trade would really help the Nets and really hurt the Nuggets,
The Pending trade is Camby + Carmelo for Richard Jefferson + Marcus Williams and Keith Van Horn
This would give the Nets a great team top 5 in the East easily.
PG-Devin Harris, good young point guard, has a high ceiling of potential
SG-Vince Carter, great scorer momentum shifting dunker, takes over games and has great experience
SF-Carmelo Anthony, Easily Top10 -12 player in the NBA, one of the best scorers in NBA
PF-Sean Williams, Young player lots of upside developing scorer, great shot blocker
C-Marcus Camby, 2007 Defensive POY,2008 runner up. great exp. and shot blocking.

I highly doubt that a troubled young player and a good defensive player will vault the Nets past Boston who has , KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, the Pistons who have Rip, Sheed, Billups, Prince, and Maxeil, the Hornets who have West, Paul, Pargo, and Chandler, and the Lakers who have Kobe, Gasol, Odem, and Bynum.
All 4 of these have a better 4 party than the Nets would have if this trade would happen.
Also after those 4 you have to look at the net's lack of depth, notice only 3 Nets averaged in double figures in scoring last season.
The nets lack a big man capable of putting up great offensive stats which is critical to a good team, look at all the great teams I listed above, all have at least one big man capable of putting up good numbers on offense
night in and night out.
The Nets lack the ability to score consistently which shows with there ranking 25th in the NBA in scoring and I don't know if Melo is the answer to those problems, I'm not even sure if he'll be able to stay out of jail until the season begins.
Also I don't understand you expecting a second year player who averaged 5 points a game to start at PF for what you say is a top 3 team in the NBA.

I will say that the Lakers and the Celts have better teams but not the Pistons or the Hornets.
Devin Harris will only get better with the addition of the 23 year old great offensive player, in Melo.
Last year Harris averaged 15PPG-6AST, and he is only 25 with just Vince Carter.
Harris is better than 2 of the point guards on the teams you named Rajon Rondo, and Derek Fisher.
At SG they have all star Vince Carter who averaged 21PPG-6RPG-5AST
Carter is statistically better than 3 of the SG Pargo,Hamilton,Allen.
At SF they would have all star Carmelo Anthony 26PPG-7RPG-3AST.
Statiscally better than all of the other SF.
At PF their one lack would be a very young extremely talented player. He is 11th in the NBA in FG%. Averaged 12.1 RPG per 48min. And was 2nd in the NBA in BPG per 48 min, at 3.98. He is probably the worst of all the PF at hand but has a ton of potential.
At C they have a great defensive stopper. Marcus Camby. He averaged 10 PPG and 13RPG,3AST, with 3.6BPG(best in the NBA). In my opinion the best defensive center in the NBA.

First the Pistons have a team that is challenging the Celtics in there playoff series, I think that they are just as a good as the Celtics, maybe better.
And last I checked the Hornets have a player, Chris Paul who is a future Hall of famer, and Tyson Chandler and David West both had all-star caliber seasons and if they keep it up next season there is no way the nets will be better than the Hornets.
You call Melo a great offensive player, but he isn't a very good defensive player, which is an area the nets need to improve, the Nets didn't rank in the top half in the league in one defensive category last season and the only player they brought in so far that will help improve that is Camby, because Melo's defense is notoriously bad.
Also the nets don't have any offensive threats down low which is very important for a great team, and also lack the necessary depth needed to jump the Pistons or the Hornets.
Woahbigguy Flint Tropics said 05/23, 06:19 PM
They would be adding Marcus Camby who would be good for about 12 PPG,12RPG,and about 3BPG.
Also how can you say after 2 good years for CP3 that he is a future hall of famer. By that logic, Carmelo and Vince CArter are both Future Hall Of Famers also. No team has 5 amazing players to refute your point about a 5PPG person starting, how about the Boston Celtics, the best team on paper in the NBA starting Kendrick Perkins. A 5PPG person starting.Hows that working out, I'd Say pretty well.
Melo, Carter, Camby are all allstar caliber players.
Williams can score and can jump out of the gym and Camby has a surprisingly good jump shot.

"Also how can you say after 2 good years for CP3 that he is a future hall of famer"
Correction 2 great years, the guy has been in the league 2 years and already is a top 5 player in the league and the best at his position.
"By that logic, Carmelo and Vince CArter are both Future Hall Of Famers also"
No, because there stats aren't half as good as Chris Paul's
"No team has 5 amazing players to refute your point about a 5PPG person starting,"
I know, but they have 3 or 4 good player too combine with there 3 or 4 great players, the nets don't have that.
"Melo, Carter, Camby are all all star caliber players. "
Camby isn't gonna make an all-star game until he puts up more than 10 points a game, and Carter hasn't been to an all-star game in a while and he's not what he used to be back when he was in his prime.
The Nets will not be a top 3 team in the NBA unless they go out and get a bunch of bench players to improve what was one of the worst benches in the NBA last season.

I agree that they would be a top 5 team in the East. But not in the NBA.

Just a minute. You don't think Chris Paul is a Hall of Famer? Don't you read RealGm? According to them, he's already better then Isiah Thomas and had a better year then Magic ever had.
