Chargers GOT functional this offseason

You have got to be kidding me. Calling the offseason dysfunctional is like calling Paris Hilton the image of chastity and grace. The fact that the Front Office and coaching staff could not communicate did not cause a breakdown during the regular season because there was never much pressure. The players knew how to win, Marty let his coordinators coach, and where playcalling broke down, the highest talent level of any team took over. As soon as the playoffs hit the dysfunction derailed a medicore coach and his overrated staff. AJ built this team, AJ has to answer to the owner, and Marty refused to answer to AJ. The choice was simple, Marty goes, AJ stays and the Bolts are still among the elite NFL teams.

By bringing Turner, the Chargers consolidated the HC and OC positions. Cottrell brings the same system Phillips built on defense. and Rivera (a top HC candidate) brings fire.

You did nothing to substantiate your position, just rattled off the same, tired, unresearched position put out by a lazy media. Do your homework next time and perhaps you might look something like a real journalist and not just another pithy cliche waiting to happen.

First I want to say the "You" referred to in this past argument wasn't me. So those words can't be counted against me. I agree that the Schottenheimer firing rid the Bolts of a lot of dysfunction. But it happened too late, and the Chargers were left with the leftovers of the coaching search. They were lucky Rivera was dealing with his own dysfunction in Chicago and was available, but he's overqualified for his position, which may lead to its own dysfunction.

Then there's Norv Turner. He's a bad coach - everything in his track record says so. He was appealing to AJ because Turner gets along with everybody and will be a perfect 'yes' man. That's why he lasted as long as he did in Washington - Snyder likes a good 'yes' man. But when this team starts losing games it has no business losing, because of poor coaching decisions, like it always happens with Turner, the dysfunction will come back full force. Fans will be upset at AJ Smith for not firing Marty sooner, enabling them to promote Cam Cameron or Wade Phillips, especially if one of them is having success in Miami or Dallas. The dysfunction is far from over.

Um, argument.

Wait, firing your HC when he was beaten because a player was an idiot, and letting your two Cooridinators walk is functional?

The hell?

Two very scary words, Norv Turner.

Chargers didnt do what they needed to do this offseason. They lost McCardell and didnt make any other acquisitions at WR. They still have the same unit that lost its cool and forgot how to catch a football against the Pats in the playoffs.

They sat and watched as Stallworth, Moss, Stokley, and Lelie went around the league.

Cottrel was completely terrible in Minn. as a D coordinator and no one wanted him this year. They guy was actually retired when the Chargers came to him. The only success he's ever had was when the HC was a defensive coach that actually run his defense for him.

And don't look to Norv Turner when their D is falling apart this year.

ShouldnRaider Fans be banned from even trying to vote here? Dear god, your team makes the Knicks organization look competent...

June 21, 2007  02:46 PM ET

Ok, bringing in washed up and "take plays off" kind of receivers wouldn't have improved this team.

Norv Turner made HOF careers for three different Cowboys when he had talent and a real front office.

Jury out? Please. Name three teams, you are certain are going to finish ahead of the bolts, including post season and then explain why.

I'll admit it was a chaotic offseason, but dysfunctional is different and not what happened. Then PErloff tries to write a list that doesn't include the Raiders? Please, keep drinking his Kool-Aid and the San Diego fans will laugh all the way to Glendale! See ya losers!

"Chargers didnt do what they needed to do this offseason. They lost McCardell and didnt make any other acquisitions at WR. They still have the same unit that lost its cool and forgot how to catch a football against the Pats in the playoffs."

Uh, they dumped a receiver who didn't top 600 yards and didn't score any touchdowns, so that's a bad move? They brought in a younger and faster Craig Davis through the draft, one thing to point out about him, HIS HANDS. Plus this is a young receiving corp that is almost developed. Vincent Jackson will amaze you.

"They sat and watched as Stallworth, Moss, Stokley, and Lelie went around the league."

Stallworth = injury prone, Moss = lazy and not who he was in the past, Stokley = product of having Wayne and Harrison and Lelie = LMAO

Asking a Raider fan to give an articulate, and neutral response to anything related to the AFC West is like asking a Terrorist group to campaign for Bush.

Can his vote be taken off?

Norv Turner had to coach the Redskins and Raiders. Neither of those teams succeeded with him, and even now without him. That doesn't prove anything except how poorly the Raiders and Skins are being run right now.

Looks like Perloff declined, but I'll pick up his slack. Because Norv Turner sucks.
