I'm gonna go with Chris Paul.....

I'll let you argue first.

Jason Kidd, he had 1.7 steals per game, .32 Blocks per game, and 7.5 rpg.

Chris paul lead the NBA in steal by recording 2.7 steals per game, which blows Jason Kidd's out of the water, Chris Paul wasn't very high in the block category because of the fact that he's a small player,

Jason Kidd also was on a defense most of this season that gave up 100.9 ppg., while the hornets only gave up 95 ppg. and were ranked 7th in the NBA in points allowed.

Chris Paul does this all with less size then gurads like Jason Kidd or Kobe Bryant, that just shows you what kind of hard worker this kid is.

Kobe Bryant?

Its easier for him to guard taller players because usually the path of the ball goes higher to bounce to the hip of a taller player.

It works as an advantage for Paul if anything.

Steals don't equate to good defense. Chris Paul isn't a stopper, he's good at stripping and getting in passing lanes. That's different than lock-down perimeter D, which is what players like Kobe, Shane Battier, Bruce Bowen, and other elite perimeter defenders are known for. Neither Bruce Bowen nor Shane Battier, usually considered the best perimeter defenders in the league, are anywhere near the Top in steals. Battier is #85 and Bowen is #176.

I would definitely go with Kobe on this one.

As much as I despise him as a person, Kobe Bryant is an amazing basketball player. He is the best defensive guard in the NBA. I'm surprised neither of you picked him. Paul is good too but Kidd is over the hill. He can still play D but not like he used to and his teams struggled defensively all year, as previously stated. I'm gonna vote for LSUrocks1.

ur kidding me. agt is completly correct just because u record a healthy number of steals does not mean u r the best defensive gaurd in the nba. im sick of people who just base a arguement in a throwdown completly on stats.... please please watch a few games and find something other than stats to base a arguement. who would be the hardest gaurd to beat in the nba... kobe bryant!
good luck getting a good shot of against him or beating him of the dribble or penetrate past him using a crossover.. he is the best defensive player in the game.
