Hitting a baseball is by far the hardest thing to do in sports. It requires so much hand-eye concentration, skill, strength and overall athletic ability. There is nothing harder.

Hit a hole in one...

Receive a tennis serve from a pro thats coming 135 mph...

Make an Olympic dive that consists of 2 and a half flips with a couple twist while in mid air and then enter the pool in a dive...

performing on the rings in gymnastics...

steal home plate...

kick a bicycle kick into the goal in soccer...

Those are just a few tasks that athletes of the respective sports have done /do and IMO are harder than hitting a baseball...Leaving the bat out in front of the plate when getting pitched to is already a great chance of making contact and hoping the ball goes far....and hats for a beginner...if you have ANY athletic ability you will have a better chance of hitting a ball from a pitcher than the one mentioned above...

It is a proven scientific fact that actually hitting a softball is the hardest thing to do in sports and hitting a baseball is second. Getting a hole in one or doing any of the other things that you mentioned aren't the essential of their sport. Maybe I phrased that wrong? Hitting a baseball is the hardest essential thing to do in its respective sport.

Well you didn't make that TD now did you?

Yours says the hardest thing to do in sports...

and even with your "rule changes" in the middle fo the TD your own "thing to do" isn't even the hardest...you said it yourself...im not sure how much "proof" you have of that but....ok? you proved yourself wrong....onward!

I will have to say returning a serve from a professional tennis player...

There serves are usually coming anywhere from 110 to 135-140 mph...on any given serve...and to return it over the net at the velocity its traveling is harder than hitting a baseball..

In baseball all you have to do is make contact and keep the ball in play...in tennis you have to make contact, keep the ball level to have it be returned over the net, and then land in play...baseball if it goes anywhere from a 120 degree area from home plate...it will stay in play...

Now you may say the tennis racket is bigger of a head...but it is less stable to make the ball go straight after hitting the ball at 130 some MPH...making it extremely hard and harder than hitting a baseball...

not to mention you still need the same hand eye coordination as you would in baseball...

Actually just returning the serve would be the feat the details are not included. I could've said hitting a baseball thrown 100 MPH but I didn't. I said hitting the baseball. So yours would have to be returning the serve and by the way there is more surface area on a tennis racket than there is on a baseball.

Dammit, I wanted this TD!

May 28, 2008  02:52 AM ET

the guy makes a TD...then changes the rules in the middle of it, and admits his topic isn't even the hardest thing to do...and he has 4 votes...wow , just wow...

May 28, 2008  02:56 AM ET

Hitting a baseball is hard, but there are much harder things to do in sports. Hitting a hole in one is a perfect example.

your a chump dude, get a life and quit making multiple accounts...you have NO knowledge of sports and rely on fake accounts voting for you...

May 28, 2008  03:23 AM ET

The title of this throwdown was phrased wrong. Vote right.

Cheating with dummy accounts... for a TD... how frelling pathetic can you get?
Is your self esteem as bad as your reasoning?

Don't try lying Grossman - likely 6 votes cast without a single comment left is another of a dozen dead giveaways.
Will someone who cares report this pathetic jerk?

Hitting a baseball? You never specify who's thowing it, how fast it's going, whether it's a curveball or fastball...

No.

I can hit a baseball. It's not that hard.

And by the way:

"It is a proven scientific fact that actually hitting a softball is the hardest thing to do in sports and hitting a baseball is second."

So you pick the SECOND hardest thing? Why not the first? And where did you get this "scientific fact"?

There's so much wrong here. Vote right.

It is a proven scientific fact that actually hitting a softball is the hardest thing to do in sports and hitting a baseball is second.

How do the prove it? Measure the amount of stress buildup on players?

May 28, 2008  08:17 AM ET

No question on this argument----------H---<>point

May 28, 2008  09:33 AM ET

How is it a "proven scientific fact"?

May 28, 2008  09:46 AM ET

impossible to prove it as a scientific fact because different people are better at different things

May 28, 2008  10:10 AM ET

What is this guy stupid or something!

May 28, 2008  11:50 AM ET

Very good point Panthers11. Me personally. I find it impossible to kick a field goal, I honestly have no idea how kickers do that

Winning a basketball game if you are a member of the Spurs and Joey Crawford is the ref.

May 28, 2008  05:51 PM ET

Which scientist said hitting a softball was hard to do? If someone can't hit a softball, they need to take up knitting or something.

Hitting a baseball isn't the hardest thing to do either

May 28, 2008  11:42 PM ET

It was a proven scientific fact on Sports Science.

May 28, 2008  11:52 PM ET

lemme get this straight...a softball which is bigger, and the bat to hit the soft ball is bigger is harder to hit, than a baseball which is smaller ?
