Jerry West playsd 50 years ago- doesn't count.
The only one I can think of - and although he was a very good player, I wouldn't call him a superstar- was Joe Dumars- yeah he was voted into the Hall- but he was never a 'superstar' - in my opinion
Jordan- yuck
Bird- yuck
Isiah- LMAO
There is no one

I like this TD
"There is no one"
this is a hard one, but I will have to say
BYRON SCOTT
jgb said 05/28, 03:56 PM
Byron Scott.........
Has done well for himself as a coach- 2 finals appearances- that's ALL
no titles
Career 14 pts, 2.5 asst, 2 rbs.........
HARDLY a superstar-
Not even the 3rd best player on his laker title teams in the 80s
Good try- but nah

Coach
2007-08 NBA Coach of the Year
1st in Southwest
1st in Atlantic (3 times)
56-26 is a great record, especially with young team like new orleans, especially in the western conference

NBA Draft: 1983 / Round: 1 / Pick: 4 >>>>> Sam Bowie was picked AHEAD OF JORDAN......your draft pick means NOTHING
1983-84 NBA All-Rookie >>>>>>>>>> All NBA rookie ? A nice trophy....but what does that mean ?
3x NBA Champion >>>>>>>>>> he was not even the 3rd best player on his team. MAGIC, WORHY, KAREEM
I think that qualifies for a superstar >>>>>>>>>> no that means he was drafted into an AWESOME situation............
Steve Kerr has like 5 rings- is he a superstar ? NO- was a great shooter played with Jordan, Duncan & was LUCKY
Remember- the player has to be a SUPERSTAR player to qualify-
He was NOT a superstar- GOOD, SOLID, TEAM-PLAYER....yes to all.
but you weren't game planning against him

Let me remind you the title of this TD
"No NBA superstar that has played in the last 30 years has equaled their PLAYING success as a coach or front office person-"
Its not about lucky, rings and etc
Good Luck in voting!!

And he is a good coach- but he still hasn't WON anything.........
Career 14 pts, 2.5 asst, 2 rbs.........
how is that a SUPERSTAR?
READ THE TD- it has to be a superstar
you would put Scott on the same level as a barkley, Malone, Jordan, Bird....?

Report Offensive Commentumm Jerry West DID NOT play 50 years ago. He played from 60-61 to 73-74 which roughly coincides with my age and I am NOT 50. You may have lost the vote of all of us in our 40s! LOL

Report Offensive CommentJoe Dumars was deifnitely a superstar and wouldve been a good choice.
The Guru hopes to be back soon | 05/28/08, 06:08 PM
Report Offensive Commentthis looks like an easy win but MSD saying Scott is a superstar is simply laughable. Of course Dumars was a superstar. How is someone in the HOF and not a superstar. He has a Finals MVP and was one of the best perimeter defenders on the best defensive team in the league. No vote. this is just a bad TD.
screamindemon68 | 05/28/08, 06:13 PM
Report Offensive Commentyeah- sorry for the over 50 thing- coach- I was just trying to get im out of the debate- since he would've mesed up my argument.
And I still say Joe D - although elected to the HAll- was not a 'superstar' player.
if your argument screamin- is that he was a good perimeter defender - well so is Bruce Bowen- is he a superstar?
and as far as finals MVP- One series does not a superstar make-
his whole CAREER he only averaged 16 points per game- How is that a superstar?
jgb | 05/28/08, 09:15 PM
Report Offensive CommentOh- and how many times was Joe D all-NBA 1st team?
NEVER
(neither was Scott by the way)
I guess I'm just a tough critic

Report Offensive CommentBowen wasnt a Finals MVP nor did he ever average 20+ points a game. all those things combined make him a superstar. Also, of course he didnt make first team all nba. He played at the same time as Magic, MJ, and stockton. Like i said hes a HOFer and a superstar.
screamindemon68 | 05/28/08, 09:47 PM
Report Offensive Comment<<<<<<<<<<Sorry, but even if M-S-D did have better arguments, the throwdown title said "NBA Superstar". I wouldn't consider Bryon Scott a superstar. I'm voting for jgb.
